We came here on a Tuesday evening for dinner. The place was busy but we were seated immediately. The place looked filled with a lot of seniors. Our server was friendly. It felt like a mom and pop joint.What we swallowed:*SHRIMP AND FISH TACOS w a SIDE OF RICE: Lil' bits of fish and shrimp with a great seasoning. I couldn't really make out which was fish and which was shrimp but this would have been really good over a bed of lettuce as a chopped-like salad.*FRIED EMPANADA with ice cream: This was a good finisher to our dinner.This felt like a local joint. Slow paced. The food was decent, our server was nice and the chips were non-stop. It was a great experience to try.

We ate here on October 5. This past Saturday. I can say we left disappointed. We ordered menudo and the la Fonda burrito the smaller one. First of all my boyfriend's menudo was just okay. But they failed to serve us a side of cilantro and onions. Second my burrito was not evenly wrapped all the meat and beans was at the end of the burrito so half of the bites were soggy tortilla covered in chili. Cold chili at that. My plate was super hot but the food was just barely warm if that. The michelada my boyfriend got was okay he says. And we love micheladas. The worst part I ordered an horchata. As soon as I took the first drink all I tasted was powder. I gulped down a little more and realized my cup was just powdery all along the top where I had drank some. Then I looked at the bottom and about half an inch of powder. So gross. The powder we mixed and it would still settle at the bottom. Also our waitress was not very friendly or attentive. When we went up to pay we didn't even get asked how our meal was. And I believe the new owner was there and he was too busy sitting watching the baseball game then to get up and greet us or introduce himself. We eat out a lot and spend lots of money trying new places. And I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where we aren't greeted by the manager or owner at the restaurant. MyBoyfriend knows the old owners and they were such sweet welcoming people.

I'd give it a 3.5 if I could, and there's a lot of positives to start with* Large portions* Good prices (especially considering the portion sizes such as the large nachos)* Easy order and pick up serviceWe did run into a couple downsides tho:* We requested utensils and napkins but didn't get them (or notice) til we got back. And we were stuck in a hotel with no access to forks anywhere and we kinda had to McGyver eating our food* The breakfast burrito was huge and glorious, but was very overpacked with large potato chunks which made it less satisfying and kind of a trick to eat cause it broke apart easily. Would much prefer a smaller burritos that wasn't so potato heavy

What a great experience at this establishment. The portions were huge and the food was so delicious. We came here for our anniversary and they gave us an awesome dessert. The margaritas were huge and very strong. I would recommend anyone wanting some great Mexican food to go here.

To Clarify up front, I almost never give 1 or 5 stars as that means the place is exceptionally bad or good. I just updated this La Fonda to Five Stars because their service is amazing and very friendly. They deserve your business.I am so glad I rediscovered La Fonda! My family would bring me here back in the late 1970s and in many ways it still looks the same.I have been searching for a place to go that my ex doesn't know or go ;-)My waitress the day was absolutely amazing and accommodating for my vegetarian needs saving me from the customary smothering of Pork, Green Chile. I am sure it's good because the rest of the food I have eaten here has been great. (three times so far)It's not all "Traditional Mexican" recipes, which frankly is nearly impossible to find locally. Don't let that dissuade you! There are some Real Mexican treats and the usual "Tex-New Mex" food at La Fonda. It is exactly what one would expect to find and they have a lot of choices at reasonable prices and you get a Big Plate-Full! You parents should appreciate the Combinations: #8 "Children's Plates" for $5-!I only drink coffee, but I saw a what looks to be a reasonable wine rack and they have a "From the Bar" menu for those that want a little something.The kitchen is well run, organized and fast. They get all the food for your table out at the same time and piping hot! By the way all my servers have been excellent and friendly, it seems they all speak Spanish and English which is a real plus. Even the cooks waved good bye as I left the other day! That's Awesome! It really makes one feel welcome. And it wasn't just me the staff treats everyone nice and they remember those they have seen before! Saying "How are you, Today?" it really goes a long way!I highly recommend La Fonda!

Good service. The food is not spectacular and it's pretty typical Mexican fare, but it is tasty and the portions are God. Did I say the service was great? Sometimes that makes up for shortcomings in the food. It was great service.

Amazing food, Cantorito (drink) and great waitstaff. We had the mix tacos, fajita's and burrito. The chips and homemade salsa is so yummy! I have lived down the street from this place and have been wanting to try it for years, I always see people on the patio and parking lot full. Now it's my go to for mexican food restaurant. Try it out!

Terrible service. Ordered combination enchiladas price was 1195 server asked did I want rice and beans I said just beans. Added 450 to the bill. Menu says rice and beans 250. I guess because I said just beans server charged me $450. Not sure why. Food came and never saw server again. Had to go to front desk to pay my bill. Never going back server had an attitude

Good burrito. My only complaint is you need to give a bigger container of salsa for to go orders. They give a large bag of chips and a half cup of salsa. It's barely anything.

Came in for dinner tonight and was seated near restrooms. Staff cleaned bathroom while people still in the dining area. She must have used full strength lavender fabuloso because it hit the air fast and stayed there our whole meal. It's been two hours since we left and I can still taste fabuloso in my mouth. Couldn't enjoy our food because that strong scent interfered with our ability to enjoy the meal. Maybe clean restrooms when you are closing and everyone's left? I can't tell you if the food was good or not. Waitstaff was friendly and pleasant which is a bonus but hide the fabuloso!!!
