As first time visitors, we made a reservation to ensure a table (standard). They do have other options to include bar, high top, and outdoors. Ambiance is definitely classy so feel free to dress up especially for date night! They change their menu according to when produce is in&out of season, have unique events every month, and happy hour specials. Food was excellent! We ordered the calamari, chargrilled oysters, bacon fat confit octopus, hasselback potato, and whole Branzino fish (special this month) to share. To drink I ordered the Albarino which paired nicely with the Branzino. For fun we tried the oyster shots but we aren't fans of Bloody Mary's so this wasn't our fav but worth a try. The octopus was definitely our top winner from the items ordered! The chefs really know how to cook their seafood here and they know what pairs well as a side and drink! We can't wait to go back to try a monthly course special or the cold bar options. Bryan was our waiter and great! He had a friendly demeanor and was attentive to our dining needs. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and pairings, and had great recommendations! Parking - small lot with "to-go only" and "2 hours max". If the lot is full there was a sign for garage parking.

Jax is great - we had only been to the one downtown, until today. Because this location opens 30min earlier, and we were a bit ravenous after hiking, we stopped at this location today around their opening time of 3:30p. There were quite a few tables with 'Reserved' placards on them, which is similar to the downtown location. My husband and I both opted for old fashioned from the hh menu and they were fabulous! We also were given ice water (the table behind me was offered water without ice, which I would have preferred due to the chilly day and being sat next to a window, but we weren't given a choice.) We also snagged some of the oysters from the hh menu and those were fine - however, they were served with ketchup instead of cocktail sauce... even had my husband verify I wasn't mistaken. I've never in my life had oysters with ketchup... Thankfully, I noticed before eating my first oyster, but I did have to scrape it off as I had out it on one before realizing. After that, I must admit I was nervous, but we both ordered what had brought us to Jax: catfish. This is the only Jax location that does not have the crispy grits in the catfish dish. Instead - hushpuppies, which I am typically not a fan of. That said, these were pretty good, a nice consistency, and fit well with the dish, but the crispy grits are superior. The hush puppies have jalapeño, making them a little spicy, and we noticed there was a sweetness to the pot likker butter that wasn't present downtown - likely to offset the spice of the jalapeño. It was a good dish, but I do prefer the 'original'. To end our meal, we had the fluffernutter nanner pudding, which came in a mason jar and was a decent (if slightly overly sweet for me) end to our meal. Not a bad option if you're in the area looking for some seafood and tasty drinks.

You know 5 star service when you get 5 star service. Jax doesn't slip at all, focusing on several touches from multiple ppl, with a customer centric focus. Every dish we ordered was exceptionally executed. The calamari was the best we've had; not over cooked, sumptuous with a perfect fry and both tubular and rings balanced. Also, there was no "old" taste to the frying oil. Their willingness to substitute sides without concern was another way they excelled at pleasing the customer. They have quite a few menus so that you know everything available. Perfect for our birthday party. While my father wanted scallops I was happy they offered raw oysters individually, freshly shucked. Our tableside banter with Cody, our waiter, personalized our birthday dinner.Thank you Jax, for adding to our special event. They even had "Happy Birthday" written on the table. Get there a bit early for their Happy Hour with live music.

Valentines Dinner at Jax for the first time! Service was excellent, food and drinks came fast. Food was excellent with a wide variety of options. Was tempted to try a bunch of apps including calamari, octopus, and grilled oysters. Calamari was great with large portions as well as the octopus. Grilled oysters had good flavor but were small. Shared a the whole brazino entree which was cooked to perfection and had a nice refreshing salad. Only complaint would be the hassle back potato wasn't very soft in the middle. Will definitely be back but only on special occasions as it was pricey but quality on point.

With friends in Glendale, looking for a happy hour spot, we found Jax and their Monday Happy Hour (all night!). A bright, festive atmosphere found us seated immediately and ordering one thing after another off the menu. Raw oysters, deviled eggs with lobster, mussels with toasted bread, chargrilled oysters, fish sandwiches, beets and burrata salad, wedge salads, you name it. And of course drinks of all sorts. Fresh seafood, decent dishes, delicious drinks. If you're looking for a good happy hour, visit Jax in Glendale, especially on a Monday where the happy hour lasts until closing time!

Great happy hour at Jax! We love happy hour--especially when a restaurant can make items not gluten-free, GF. Jax not only provides the atmosphere for date night, they also have great seafood. Everything we had was yum and the portions were nice--not too small. We enjoyed: west coast oysters, shishito peppers, we split the hh wedge salad, lobster deviled eggs, chargrilled oysters and my partner had a cup of gumbo (not gf). We sat at the bar talked to the bartenders who are always knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Loved our experience!

Another stop on our recent staycation. My Sweetheart and I typically visit the downtown location of Jax but this one opened up a half hour earlier and was more in the vicinity of where we were at the time. This location also has convenient, free parking so that's a plus. Upon entry we were greeted quickly by the host. There were quite a few tables marked as reserved but we didn't have to wait at all. My wife and I both ordered an old fashioned from the happy hour menu and it was quite good. For our entree we both ordered the catfish. I went fried, she went blackened. My fish itself was good, consistent with what I'd had previously at the downtown location. The greens were ok as well. The pot likker butter was sweeter and this version doesn't come with the delicious grits that other locations offer up. Instead this version comes with hush puppies. They weren't bad, I simply prefer the grits. I did ask one of the staff why no grits at this location when all others have them. She essentially said the juice isn't worth the squeeze to them at the Glendale location as the grits apparently take a long time to prep (but to me, they're oh so worth it and the other chefs must agree) since they're offered at every other location. Dessert was the nanner pudding. I'm glad we finally tried it, but I'd probably get the chocolate cake if we visit this location again. Bites were a little inconsistent with some bites offering peanut butter caramel goodness with the banana and others simply the banana. Service overall was good but there's just something about the downtown location that makes you feel warmer.... Good ol southern style hospitality. I'm definitely curious about the other locations now to see how they put their spin on things.

We stopped in to this location for the first time today and absolutely loved it. We have been to the downtown location many times and found this location better suited for us - it wasn't as crowded, it's easy to find parking, and there is live music on Fridays (the singer was fantastic). Ryan and Ben waited on us at the bar and both did an excellent job - but the thing I was most impressed by was how many employees checked in on us, they really work as a team. We had several happy hour apps starting with oysters, shishito peppers, French fries, peel and eat shrimp and the lobster deviled eggs. Everything was really good and they had perfect portion sizes. My favorite were the shishitos and my husband's were the oysters of course. We didn't have any drinks, but I did check out the wine list and was impressed by the quality of wines they offer. We had a great experience and will be back again soon!

I had great service from the moment I walked through the door two nights ago. I sat at the bar and both bartenders were very attentive. I didn't have to ask for anything. I started the evening off with a cup of gumbo. As a native New Orleanian I am extremely critical of NOLA cuisine. That said the gumbo was pretty good. One small tip the roux was a little too dark and left a low note of burnt mess to the dish. Natives don't make their roux that dark for gumbo. It was pack with seafood. So a huge thank you for that! For my entree I had the North Carolina Catfish. The dish is solid but probably not one I would necessarily order again. I found the cornmeal a little too thick but that is a personal preference so no deduction. I am not a hush puppy person but these were really good, especially when combined with the pot licker. I absolutely love desserts and was able to end the evening on a high note with a key lime tart. I will say that there are a lot of entrees that sound very appealing and I will definitely be back to indulge.

We came to Jax on a Monday evening for happy hour. They serve happy hour throughout the entire restaurant, which is great. They have a nice covered outdoor patio area where we sat. Their happy hour has some great options, including oysters and mussels. The oysters were so fresh!
