Illegal Pete's - DTC

I love this food. I did not know how much I needed an Illegal Pete's nearby me. This place is better than Chipotle or Qdoba. The food is always fresh, the staff fills up your bowl, the vibes are always good but most importantly...they have incredible chocolate chip cookies. They are so soft and delicious I always have to get one when I'm there.

Needed a quick bite in a pinch so decided to run by this location. We waited a bit for service even though there was no one in line, and the staff wasn't very friendly. I tried to order chips and salsa and the man at the counter seemed annoyed that I wanted something on the side. They struggled to communicate as a few of the team members didn't speak English, and had to have someone called over to roll the burritos. The food is decent, we ordered burritos and they were stuffed with ingredients and not rolled very well. The mild "salsa" was pico which was very disappointing. They also had a new vegetarian protein called Taco Night that I read was made of mushroom. It was pretty good and did remind me a lot of ground beef! We were definitely full after our burritos, so it's worth the price, but wouldn't get the measly side of chips and salsa again.

I usually love this place. It is a go to.Just asked for an order to go.And the server refused to separate out a few "wet" ingredients. I have to travel 10 minutes and didn't want my dinner to get soggy.Another employee jumped in and tried to assist, and the first employee cut him off - hard!Again I am a fan of IP.But this was a really bad experience.A 1 Star experience!!!postscript - got home meal was just what I expectedyou lost a long time customer

Love Illegal Pete's I got a Chicken Burrito and a Chicken Quesadilla, which were both delicious They have 2 for 1 Specials for Educators at times, which I sincerely appreciate. The Employees are wonderful and very helpful.

I had yet to try Illegal Pete's, but I am glad I did! Friends wanted to stop by while we made a stop at Micro Center. I ordered my bowl and it was delicious. The meat was tender, no gristle. The green chile was pretty good too! Service was good, although they were out of guacamole and shredded cheese. They made it up to us with extra queso. The place in general was a bit dirty, we sat at the cleanest table we could find. Not going to really fault them because this place was so busy when we came by. Overall it was pretty great!

I discovered Illegal Pete's in a roundabout way. I was at an event with a taco bar and it was really good. I asked who catered it and was Illegal Pete's!I had to check out the restaurant. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was still good. It's very similar to Chipotle in how you go to the counter and go through the process of having your burrito, taco, or bowl put together with your choice of ingredients as your go down the line. All the staff is super nice and they make you feel like a welcome and valued customer. The biggest difference from Chipotle is that they have a full bar. There's plenty of seating...mostly long tables with chairs on both sides. My friend had a fish taco and said it was one of the best he's ever had!! It was a generous piece of fish, he said. I had a burrito. The food is good quality. It was about $25 for two burritos. If I went back, I'd get a bowl instead of a burrito. The tortilla gets soggy pretty fast.

Their food lacks flavor. I have to pour sauce or queso all over my food for it to have any flavor. The rolled tacos are pretty weak too - not much meat inside. I am so over mediocre food at high prices.

Illegal Pete's is a much, much better version of Chipotle. Fresher ingredients, no food poisoning, nicer staff, booze selection, and hyper local feel without the mega corporate trash.The steak doesn't have much gristle or super chewy parts. Sometimes a couple pieces. Not every single bite, every single time like Chipotle. Chicken is flavorful. Honestly not as big of a fan of the barbacoa and pork (not terrible, but I prefer chicken and steak here). They mix all your ingredients for you in your burrito, so each bite gets all the flavors and ingredients. You don't get a mouth full of lettuce, then meat, then dairy products, etc. in isolation. Queso is crazy good here, and green chili is nice. The happy hour is awesome. A small, but very good, selection of local beers on tap.You can order at the line, where you customize each order moving down the line of ingredients, or order online. Inside is plenty of open seating and a few TVs. Also kept pretty clean.I love that Illegal Pete's has a focus on local artists, musicians, and causes. A real community establishment that makes you feel good about giving your business here.

The manager running this location is a complete FAIL I give him a huge F. Look at how the restaurant looks with clutter - boxes, supplies scattered at the top of a cabinet near the tV where u look while eating your food and junk on tables. Closet where employees leave bags is wide open right near bathrooms, someone can see right in. Looks messy, unorganized like someone's house, and honestly your waiting for theft to happen. I watched the bartender with her hair down serve someone at the bar then walk right into the kitchen pouring cheese and queso with her hair hanging over the food. Just not ok, this whole place looks dirty, I wouldn't trust the way the food is prepared. Will never go to this location again.

I've been let down a few times by this location but today was the worst. Not only does this location often times lack bare minimum customer service but the food has gone downhill. The Colfax location never disappoints unfortunately this one has never been on the same level. Today I got a cheese quesadilla, seriously how incompetent do you have to be to mess that up? There was little to no cheese it was two grilled tortillas. I'm not asking for much but 6 shreds (not slices, shreds) of cheese does not make a quesadilla. Do better!
