After some initial confusion Helga's management was able to host my mom's 80th birthday! My mom grew up in Germany and the environment helped her feel a bit like she was home!Our waitstaff was amazing! Austin was friendly and incredibly attentive to every detail! He was knowledgeable about the menu and all the beers! He was assisted by Jay, who is fluent in German and spoke with my mom, and they had a whole conversation, including his wishing her happy birthday!! They made sure that everything was perfect for us. Thanks for helping celebrate my mom's special day!

Back in the day, Helga's (when it was off of E 6th Ave) was great!! the last i came (in the current location) it really left something to be desired. To be fair, it was an off time of day, squarely between lunch and dinner - and they were not at all busy. The service was good, but the place itself looks like it hasn't been cleaned since they moved (which was a while ago).The food we ordered was mediocre at best. Not the trip (mentally, anyway) back to Germany that I was counting on. Perhaps this was just an off day for them, but it disappointed me enough, that i cannot say i would ever return. And that's a shame, because there are not a lot of Bavarian choices in The Metro area.

German food! Helga's is always a solid choice. We were here for the start of a date night. Could not have been a better start.Helga's is located adjacent to the mall so there is plenty of parking to be had. The staff is welcoming and provides recommendations.Whenever we come here I am reminded of my grandparents. My grandmother used to make many of the dishes they serve.I started with the cucumber and beet salads. Delicious. And being the dark beer girl that I am, I needed a Warsteiner Dunkel to go with. I had the Rouladen which was thinly sliced seasoned beef, wrapped around onions, bacon, and a pickle with a brown braising sauce. In the menu they recommend having the red cabbage and spaetzle with it. How could I go wrong? The Rouladen was such a fun mixture of flavors and of course the sides were solid! The red cabbage reminded me of my grandmother's.My husband started with their chicken soup and a Warsteiner Pilsner. He enjoyed the bratwurst dinner with spaetzle and sauerkraut. The mustard that came with it was so tasty. The brats had been charbroiled for that extra flavor.When I have the opportunity to come to Helga's, I'm there.

Craving German Food? Helga's will hit the spot. With German music playing happily in the background and a liter of lager in his hand, my husband was a happy man! He kept saying "take me to your liter". Anyway he loved his Rueben and fries, and I enjoyed my rouladen; rolled beef in a brown sauce, it was filling and tasty. Thankfully I was able to order a half portion. The potato salad and the red cabbage were my favorites and I will be sure to order them again.

I felt like I had stepped back into the old world of Germany when entering this place for lunch. We walked through the bakery and small shop (lots of German goodies) to reach our table. We both ordered sandwiches that included 2 side dishes of our choice. The meals were plentiful and favorable. We didn't order desserts but they looked appealing (next time).

I had never bene to Helga's and my husbands family go fairly often so we are decided to go to lunch and get together for some yummy German food. We arrived and they were fairly busy so we had to wait for a bit for a table. No big deal. When we were seated our server was quick to take our drink and food orders. She was even helpful with some recommendations. I ordered the bier bratwurst plate with sauerkraut and the brussels which were the veggie of the day. Our food arrived quickly and hot. Once we had our food and drinks we literally never saw the server again. We finished our meals. the dining room emptied out and we were the only table still there. We finally had to go find someone so that we could pay. Then we are went to the gift shop to get some goodies to take home and no one was working the counter there either. We waited and waited and again finally had to go find someone so we could be rung out for our items. Not sure what happened with the service but the food was incredible!

This is a traditional German restaurant with a German store attached with treats, cheeses, and meats for sale. I got the chicken schnitzel with broccoli and goulash on the side. The breading on the chicken tasted excellent, the chicken was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was tasty. The broccoli and the goulash also tasted very good. The goulash was so tasty, I actually ate my wife's goulash as well! It was rich and savory. The cook did a truly amazing job and everything was perfectly cooked. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in the mood for authentic German food. The atmosphere of the restaurant makes you feel like you're in Germany. Will definitely be back soon.

If you like salt you'll enjoy Helga's.The currywurst, as well as the accompanying potato salad, were so salty that I'm dumbfounded as to how this restaurant has such a favorable rating here.
