My girlfriend and I visited from Phoenix and we have both never had Ethiopian food before but the reviews were good and I wanted to try it out.Holy moly! Seble, the owner, is so kind and sweet. I ordered the Zilzil tibs and they were amazing! Seble told us the meat is not frozen and received fresh from a local farm every week! It was excellent flavor, amazing food, and great service. 10/10 will recommend going again!

Absolutely delicious food! The most friendly, delightful, charming service you will ever encounter. The owner is incredibly welcoming. The servers are professional and friendly. Everything was cooked to perfection and the prices were incredibly reasonable! Make sure to come in for the coffee ceremony in the daytime. Absolutely delicious!

This wasn't what I expected at all. I had high expectations going in as this place had great reviews. As soon as I walked in, the place was empty on a Sunday at noon. Shocked but eager to try it out, me and my party sat down. Our waitress was very sweet but spoke very broken English. This was hard as she wasn't really able to explain certain menu items so we had to shoot in the dark.We ordered water and it came out looking like dirty milk. We decided against it and paid 2 dollars for bottled Costco water. For appetizers we all had beef samosas and those were the only things that I enjoyed the taste of. Next, after waiting almost 2 hours for our food (place was empty) we were served injera which I thought was very sour and not my favorite and lamb/beef tibs with awaze. These dishes looked decent but the taste was very offensive and not good.Lastly, we were eating and did not like the taste of the injera, but the waitress brought out another basket and we thanked her and thought it was complimentary. It was not and they charged us for it. Very very sketchy, but we just paid and left. Sad to say but I will probably never eat Etheopian food after this experience.

Eatopia was recently in 5280 Magazine -- and deservedly so! Owner Seble has created a haven for authentic Ethiopian fare and a comfortable, casual dining experience. A recent review references sour injera and "offensive" flavors. Injera is supposed to be sour! It's a fermented food that's tasty, good for the gut, and offers copious iron and minerals. Ethiopian cuisine features spices that are not familiar to most palettes, and I can see how people who are new to Ethiopian food might not cotton to it immediately. Remember to separate the cuisine from the restaurant: for those of us who are fans of Ethiopian food, Eatopia offers a haven of flavors and warm service.I first discovered this restaurant 2.5 years ago, and I've been going back monthly ever since, always with my family of four and often with friends as well. It's important to remember that Eatopia offers an experience. We always stay for a couple of hours -- last weekend, we were there from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM with our group of 10 adults and 5 children. We started with sambusas, then lots of veggie dishes, awaze tibs, doro wot, and injera. Then, we ended with a tasty coffee ceremony. To me, it's not a stop for a quick meal -- it's a place to relax and enjoy amazing food and good company. "Good company" meaning not only the guests I've come with, but the restaurant staff as well.Seble has poured her heart and soul into Eatopia, and she tends to personally check on tables and try to get to know her customers. Everyone who works for her is super nice, but I can understand how the language barrier could somewhat affect the experience (but not the food, which is consistently excellent) if Seble isn't around. If it's your first time trying Ethiopian, you can always call ahead to make sure that Seble is in. She takes immense pride in taking good care of her customers. In short: I highly recommend Eatopia. Go and try it, and make sure to bring your appetite!

The skinny: Authentic delicious food with the best and friendliest service. One of my favorite spots for food in Denver. The overview: My fiance lived in Ethiopa for a few years so we've always been on the hunt for some authentic Ethiopian food. And I'm excited to say we've found it! The place is a bit unassuming from the outside but is quite large inside. Everything we gotten is absolutely delicious. A few of our favorites include doro wot, veggie combo (to get a variety), & tibs wot. But my absolute favorite is Shiro Wot which is a simmered chickpea dish kept hot on a little pot over a small candle. You can't go wrong here so my suggestion would be to get a few different things and try everything family style! And the service is just incredible - the owner/chef is one of the nicest people we have met in the Denver area. You can really see her passion in food and hospitality - in fact - its hard for us to even want to try another Ethiopian spot with how warm she is!Would I come back: Yes! And I do all the time.

I really enjoyed trying something new in a different part town. This was my second time having Ethiopian food. I think there was only one other person in the restaurant when we went on a Monday late afternoon so we decided to sit at the bar. The staff was so friendly and great to talk to. I enjoyed hearing about Ethiopian culture and how all the food they prepare is fresh, never from a can or processed. I got the vegetable platter and it was super yummy. I'd love to go back to experience their morning coffee ritual one day.

I am so glad Eatopia is down the street from me! I am used to having to add a lil salt to most of the restaurant food I get. Not at all the case with Eatopia. So flavorful and buttery. The injera is really nice, it seems like it has more teff because it is darker. It was empty when I went in, probably because it was 12:30 on our first snow day of the year. The service was very pleasant and prompt. I'm used to waiting a loooong time for Ethiopian food to come out of the kitchen and it didn't take much time at all. I can see the contemporary ambiance they are going for with the large tv screens, LED at the bar and spacey pendant lamps paired with traditional paintings and classic posters. It's a little bit of an Ethiofuturist vibe and I like it! Prices are good, too!
