A very good meat counter, with lots of offerings in the grocery section. The Taqueria is pretty straightforward, but tasty.

By far the best carniceria I've been to in Denver. When you drive up, there is loud music blaring, there is everything you need to whip up an amazing and authentic Mexican dish and they have fresh tortillas for sale. There is also a restaurant in the back that had a line incredibly long so we weren't able to try it, but will definitely be back soon to do so!

Guy with Mexican lineage moves to Denver. What is his biggest concern? How is any semblance of real Mexican food going to make it all the way to Denver? Mexican ingeniuty and hard work, thats how. SI SE PUEDE, mother effers. You definitely would never try/want/accidentally stop here if you judge this place by the outside. Completely unassuming entrance into a little Mexican meat market which also sells you all the Mexican candy, fix-ins, spices, sauces, chips, you name it. The one thing you may miss when you are completely lost in mexican euphoria is the mexican restaurant in the back. Im not talking about Tex-Mex, Cali-Mex, or whatever the uck ever you eat. Im talkng about authentic Mex-Mex food. Tacos, menudo, or tortas - you name it. Its delicious and here is the kicker. Its REAL cheap. Do your pasty white ass a favor and go here. You may get some looks from the patrons/workers, just tell them Alex sent you. We're all cousins, right?

This place is real Mexican food.Tacos are just like street tacos you get in Mexico. Two corn tortillas and the meat. They have a counter for the condiments. Line, cilantro, onion, pico de gallo, and salsas. Everything to round out the taco.Menudo is very good, only thing missing was the pigs feet, but that may have been my families recipe. Tamales are really good, both the green and red. A little on the hot side.Decent beans and rice. But I never went to a restaurant for those.

I hate Chipotle. For many, many reasons. Chipotle is a homogenized and bland approximation of Mexican food that is overpriced and underwhelming. Chipotle burritos contain way too much rice and beans and not enough meat. Rice and whole beans do not really belong in a burrito and you should not have order double meat in order to get a regular burrito. So why rice and beans? Obviously because those ingredients are cheaper than meat. And Chipotle sure knows how to skimp on meat. I seriously want to throw that stupid serving spoon in the trash every time I walk by a Chipotle. A good burrito should contain carne asada, cheese, guacamole, some salsa if the guacamole is not spicy, maybe some onions, and THAT IS IT. I guess refried beans are alright, but definitely not rice. For all those who laud the "Mission Style Burrito", I advise you to visit Pedro's Tacos in San Clemente and hopefully, you will see the light. Generally, the farther you get away from Mexico, the worse the Mexican food is and San Francisco is a lot farther from Mexico than Southern California. Also, Chipotle underpays their employees. I won't go into too much detail here, but Chipotle recently defeated a class action lawsuit brought upon them by their employees for not paying overtime. But just because you win in Court, does not mean you are right. And I suspect this is not the last lawsuit Chipotle will face. In short, Chipotle is basic food for basic people, and if you eat there, your favorite band is probably Maroon 5 and you think Big Red gum is spicy. You also probably post a lot of "It's Wine O'clock!" memes on facebook and buy your toilet paper and paper towels at Whole Foods to avoid shopping with ugly people. Ok, enough ranting about Chipotle. Carniceria La Sierra #1 is a great place to get real Mexican food. I typically get a burrito here or I get the tacos. Both are great. I do recommend brushing up on some basic Spanish because I do not think that everyone here speaks English. But the employees here are very friendly and have always tolerated my less than perfect Espanol. I get the feeling that they are happy to be here, and that is a positive thing. As for the burrito, I order a carne asada burrito with cheese, guacamole, onions, and usually, some refried beans. When I order the burrito without the refried beans, it is a not quite full enough, but with refried beans, it is a good size. Everything tastes like it should and there is a nice balance of ingredients. The guacamole is not spicy, so I go grab some of the spicy salsa from the salsa bar properly spice each bite. Also, guacamole is extra, but the total for the burrito comes to $6.50, so no big deal. I would have to pay $12.00 to get this burrito at Chipotle and it would not be as good. All in all, this is not the best carne asada burrito I have ever had, but it is pretty damn good. The burrito gets 4 stars. As for the tacos, they offer a wide variety of options, including carne asada, al pastor, chicken tinga, carnitas and more adventurous offerings like lengua and cabeza. I am not really into cabeza, as brain is basically fat, so I typically get the carne asada, al pastor and sometimes, the chicken tinga tacos. The al pastor is probably my favorite, followed by the carne asada. The tacos are your typical street tacos and are served on two corn tortillas with meat. They also give you some grilled onions which are good. Of course, you can doll up your tacos at the condiment bar which has cilantro, raw onions, and a variety of salsas. The tacos cost $1.49 each which is already a good value. But if you go on Friday, they have $1.00 tacos, which is an excellent value. If it is Friday, I will usually pick up eight tacos and then reheat them in the oven. Three tacos is a good amount for me for a meal. All in all, these tacos get 4 stars. Long story short, this is a great place with great food, friendly employees and you should give them a chance. They also have a full market and you can pick up a bottle of Sunny D or whatever your beverage of choice is and pay at the register when you buy your food. Overall, I give this place 4 out of 5 stars.

Hard to believe there aren't many reviews for this place because it's amazing. The food, anyhow. Basically a few tables in the back of a market. Not much for ambiance but that's overrated. And it's cheeeap. Probably the best tacos al pastor I've had. The asada tacos are also killer. Fresh and tasty... so good. The chicharron (red) are also fantastic but quite a lot of fat... probably because it's chicharron. I've had better carnitas, but still pretty decent. Really basic, real, tacos. Two small tortillas and meat. You pick the salsa to put on top.Their plates (steak, carnitas, etc.) are also delicious. Basically a cut of meat with rice and beans. The ranchera plate (carne asada, I think, or at least similar) is a personal favorite, but the cut can be a bit fatty. The burritos are run of the mill, and if you get them smothered, the chili is more cali style... pretty basic and actually green. Don't come here if you are expecting 'On the Border.'

the taqueria -restaurant. food is awesome. their chorizo sopes, their lengua and pastor tacos are yummy. their quisada is as well they have awesome salsas. love their green one! Horchatas are yummy (they have strawberry and natural) for their carniceria: they sell mexican (central american too) sour creams that are yummy and they sell homemade flour tortillas that taste great (from a local tortilleria). so pretty much, they have what a lot of carnicerias and taquerias are supposed to have and serve. I highly recommend this place! can't think of another more authentic place in Denver.

Ok - this place rocks. It has all the trappings i look for in a good restaurant. Busy, good food, the owner cares about what goes out. The focus at this place is the food, not the decor. If you can get past that, you are in for a treat and thank the Gods that they have blessed us with this place. Where to start? Well most, no, i should say all the Mexican Eaterys, i only will recommend a few items. This place, just about everything you eat will be good, if not great. I what love about this place is that they have what i would consider real Mexican food. Things i grew up with. I dont think they have Fajitas on the menu. But with so many other great choices, who cares, right? I love the soups because they are all really good and available everyday. Also the tacos are great as well as many of the plates. The Gorditas are also all really good. Are you getting the picture?
