This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and holy crap, I had no idea what I was missing!! I'll have to spend a lot of time catching up because I'm now obsessed. Came here on a Friday night for date night and it was fairly quiet in the dining room, but takeout seemed quite busy. Loved the artwork on the walls and staff was kind and helpful to my naive self. Prices were also very reasonable. We started with sauteed plantains (delicious) then Yemisir Wot & Awazie Tibes for our entrees. Y'all. THE BREAD. I am STILL talking about the bread and it's been weeks. It's pure happiness. Absorbed the mouth watering entrees while being a perfect vessel for eating and scooping. Can you tell I'm obsessed? I cannot wait to come back.

My husband and I came here pretty late one night and felt so welcomed, even though they were about to close. Ali was really helpful, friendly, and fun! He hooked us up with some delicious dishes (we ordered the meat combo and added a couple of vegetable sides as well). We also got a couple of appetizers and were really impressed. The decor on the walls is interesting and it's awesome that they play music videos from Ethiopia and other countries! I really love this spot, and look forward to coming back here again.

I'm pescatarian and my partner is vegetarian so we just came in today for lunch for 2 7-sampler veggie plates, tons of extra injera, the Abyssinia salad, and some lentil puff pastry apps. This review will be short. The salad was AMAZING. We received 2 containers, 1 smaller than the other, so if that was on the house.. thank you kindly! Fresh carrots, tomato, red onions, fresh greens..but that dressing though. Please sell it!! All of the 7 veggie portions were full of spices and delicious. The puff pastry was airy and crispy, golden. The injera was as fluffy and pillowy as you'd expect. The woman at the counter was very friendly! For $50, you get a massive amount of flavorful food. You won't regret trying anything here, I can almost guarantee it.

I was hesitant to try Ethiopian in an out of restaurant context, but man did Abyssinia deliver!! I placed a delivery order through Grubhub, it arrived very promptly. The portions were sizeable (I got the 3-meat and 7-Veg samplers) with plentiful Injera (will make for three large meals). The flavors were bold! I could pick up the ginger, cardamom and garlic distinctly in the various vegetable sides. Beyond delicious! They even threw in a small house salad, which was dressed perfectly. Yum. I am surprised to say I think this delivery order was actually the best Ethiopian I've had in Denver so far. And I'm definitely looking forward to picking up food here in the future. Go for it!

We went to the Ethiopian restaurant first around 8pm on a Saturday evening. It was completely packed and we were told it would be a long while before we got our food. So we left and came here. This place does not have a parking lot but there is street parking. Decent number of tables and a bar available to sit at. Decor is very old, dingy, walls need to be repainted, etc. My friend got the vegetarian 7 sampler plate. He said it was ok. Good portion, he finished all of it and was stuffed.I got the meat combo which had lamb, beef, chicken, spinach and yellow lentils. Lamb was my least favorite- dry, beef was ok, chicken was good, hard boiled egg didn't have any flavor, spinach was not bad and lentils were ok. It was a good sized portion - I took a tiny bit home for leftovers. It was $18 for each of our dishes.Overall it was alright

Excellent Ethiopian food in Denver. I love they have the "combo" options so you can sample a bunch of different dishes if it's your first time or you want a bit of everything. Service is very friendly and reasonably priced

Very tasty. The spicy dishes are too much for me, but my friends like them. I've eaten their vegetarian sampler several times and have enjoyed it. I look forward to trying some of their meat dishes.

My husband and I love Ethiopian food and recently moved to the Denver area so we've been trying quite a few places. This is our FAVORITE so far. We were a little nervous walking in as it looked kinda dark and was empty, but the chef-turned waiter-turned hostess came out quickly and had us sit wherever we wanted. The menu is extensive so if this is a one man show, very impressed by the variety! Our food was ready quickly and hot and delicious! Best gluten free injera we have tried in the city so far. Doro wot, doro tibes, gomen, atkilt wot, split peas, lentils - every vegetable offering is amazing! (fyi, closed on Tuesdays!)

My husband and I came here for the first time. We love Ethiopian food! We thought the food was great but, it was really really slow and it was just us and one other person in the store. It took over an hour. The staff was super nice. Besides how slow the service is I would recommend it.
