STOP! Do not eat here, do not support this business, they are horrible. I'm Jamaican and the recurring joke is how rude the Jamaican restaurant industry wide staff is. We get it. That's not what this is about. The attitudes we all understand and we deal with it for good food. The food and the sneaky behavior here s by far new to me. Do yourself a favor and go the 2 extra blocks to Fireside. The other day, I said I would try new Jamaican restaurants this year when I'm too lazy to cook. I went here for breakfast. I called ahead of time to make sure they had fried dumpling and mixup porridge and she said they did. As a matter of fact she said the dumplings were not even ready yet so I'm thinking great I'll get them fresh. I get there they had two lonely dry fried dumplings left. I asked if more was coming out, it was 9:30am! She said they have backups which I didn't understand but I said ok let me get two. I ordered 4 fried dumplings, a chicken patty, ackee and saltfish with boil food, one piece of fried chicken to taste it, and a small/porridge. It literally took this girl 8 hrs to pack the food up. Literally I see why they had no customers. Fireside line is out the door. I was literally the only one in there ordering and her lack of enthusiasm and slowness was bar none. It doesn't take 20mins to pack up pre made food but it did for this chick. Ok fine, working on my patience so I was cool with that. She puts the lonely cold looking fried dumplings in a small paper bag then goes to the back with the bag to get the other two dumplings, the "back ups" they charge almost $2 each for. I pay. Bill $30. Mind you, during all this, not sure what she was doing, but my food still wasn't packed up. She comes back out from the back with the dumpling bag closed up. I reach over the counter to see them.These sneaky, dutty fools, removed the two decent looking dumplings and put two unsellable, burnt, hard as rock fried dumplings in the bottom, THEN, put the two I did see back on top! How dishonest can you be? This is taking it a step further because why go through the trouble just put the other two on top and keep going. But they knew they were were not edible and were being dishonest and shady. You know how many times I've gone places and the servers will say, this doesn't look good so don't get that or, since it's smaller or less than sellable we'll just throw this in free eat it or don't or not sell it at all. These people opted to steal my money instead of offering good food, and went out of there way to remove the the dumplings I saw, because the bag is so small you have to take that step, put the non edible ones in the bottom to hide them not knowing who they were dealing with, then add the decent ones back on top hoping I would just leave and not discover they were F'd until I got home. I opened that bag and said I need a refund those are hard and burnt I'm not eating that. Here she come I guess the cook, owner, whatever from the back like she didn't have a clue knowing their trash selves did all this. She says, "you charged her for 4?" Knowing full well I paid for this. You didn't just throw those in. You SOLD them and tried to hide the piss poor quality. Took them another 5 mins to issue the refund to my card. I finally get to leave this awful place $30 less in my account wasted. I'm headed to the post office, this fool left out the piece of chicken I paid for! I was so mad. After all that, you still couldn't let me even leave with what I paid for. I call and say hey you forget the chicken please put aside a decent piece for me. I get there, of all the pieces of chicken, after the most terrible service ever, you think she would be apologetic, maybe throw an extra piece of the dry chicken no one was buying? Nope! She gave me the smallest, mostly bone single piece she could find. I said, these folks are clowns! I told her you're kidding right, switch this out for a thigh please I don't want this, I told you decent. Smh.In short, if you know the culture and anything about Jamaican restaurants, they will not change. Reviews mean less then dog crap to them and this recount of events is mainly for patrons like myself looking for a Jamaican food spot, and giving an honest review for you to keep driving pass this place. It's very easy to miss with good reason. They don't deserve your money. Also, the ackee, the boil food, the patty, the FRIED DUMPLINGS, and the dry piece of chicken I had to turn back for.... Horrible. All the food was tasteless and nasty. The ackee was at least hot and fresh, but not good very bland and everything else was cold and tasteless. I literally tasted everything and threw it all out. What a waste of my time and money. Never again. Don't be like me. Negative five stars still needs to be a thing.
