A'Town Bistro

This was some of the best food I've had in Washington. We did a day trip to Anacortes and we fell in love with this place! The waitress was so nice and the food was incredible! We loved the duck and paella dish and the dessert was delicious. I'm definitely coming back here because the food was so good! 10/10 recommend checking this place out if you're visiting or on the way to the islands!

Tonight was not our best experience here. Normally always top service and food. Tim sat us quickly at a table I didn't like. I felt like we had servers running in both sides of us. Our server didn't even greet us for over 10 minutes. We were passed by many times. Finally ordered a glass of wine and the Squid small plate, it was nice and hot and very well cooked. Lacking in any seasoning needed a squeeze of lemon and some salt at a minimum. My husband ordered the clam chowder and I ordered the scallops. His was super hot and mine was barely Luke warm. The muscle shells were actually cool. They took it back, the waiter walked by multiple times and didn't even stop to apologize or check in. My husband's clam chowder which is normally excellent was hot though several clams had sand which is horrible. He finished his and mine was brought back nice and hot. The best part was the scallops. Delicious and excellently cooked. Muscles over cooked this time. Guess there is a give and take. Normally super happy with food and service, tonight was a miss on both. One miss is understandable, hopefully just an anomaly as normally food and service is excellent. This trip was not great.

Great food, excellent hamburger! They have a local farmer provide them free range beef. Their fish is also purchased from local fisherman.

Today I ate a sandwich that changed my life. Ambience, food, service -- all stellar. A must stop in Anacortes. Wait ... worth the drive from anywhere.

Run, don't walk, and get to this place as soon as you can. Wow! The food is the star of the show, which is difficult because the service was so friendly and helpful. They really nailed every aspect of our time with them and have created a wonderful place to chill. For Drinks The palomino is refreshing and tart while not being too booze forward. The whiskey fizz drink with the egg white was absolutely my favorite though. On to the main reason for coming here! The grub! The clam chowder is seriously the best you'll ever have. Hands down, nothing even comes close. The night moves salad and the scotch egg were also two super flavorful options we chose and thoroughly enjoyed.

We made early reservations the day before and were seated as they opened. We had peeked at the menu and definitely wanted to try this restaurant that locally sourced as much as possible before we left Anacortes. Service, provided by Kate, was very friendly and prompt. She didn't steer us wrong at all, was knowledgeable not just about the menu but about the food prep and drinks, and made sure we were doing well. Ask for her if you can, she's great. We started with a bookhouse fizz and the no thanks along with the patatas a la brava. I was torn between the moules frites and the nerka king for dinner. Sharon was also looking at the moules frites as well as the short ribs. Every large plate looked like a win. We decided on the nerka king (seared medium rare) and the short ribs. I instantly like any restaurant that asks me how well done I like my salmon. The patatas were a more generous portion than we thought for a traditional tapas dish - just so you know. That said, they were excellent! The house made mozzarella was the perfect accompaniment to the potatoes. The smoky sauces were very flavorful (we suggest mixing them). OMG the short ribs. Wow. They were fantastic. So tender. So flavorful. The salmon, served skin up, was medium rare as ordered - tender pink in the middle. The salmon sausage was exceptionally good and unexpected - very savory (fennel, maybe?). Everything was so great, we had to stop ourselves from overeating. Then Kate brought the dessert menu... Chocolate tahini ice cream?!? I know, sounds odd, but I've had chocolate tahini brownies and stand by the combination. We decided to split a cannoli dessert and call it good. And they were. If you're anywhere near Anacortes, do yourself a favor and make reservations!

The service was OUTSTANDING! All restaurants in Skagit Valley need to take note!!! The food was even more amazing! We had the Scotch Egg, to die for! The duck was like something I've never had, that melted in my mouth!

Best food in anacortes. This is amazing food. I've been 5 times in the past 10 years and have always been blown away. I never have a reservation and am usually turned away because I call on short notice.Get a reservation if you can.What is good? EVERYTHING here is good.Bison burger. Ribs. Salads. French onion soup. The fries. The wine and beer are excellent.Terrific smart knowledgeable service. This is a very special place and I'm glad it survived covid. Thanks to the chefs - we really appreciate your food.

If you try the clam chowder, it will haunt you forever and no other clam chowder will ever compare. You've been warned. Locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients. Lovely ambiance and excellent service, too. This is a small business that you can feel good about supporting. We'll never forget the affordable family take-home meals that they offered during the beginning of the pandemic. Thanks, A-Town!

Sad to write this review. So disappointed with tonight's meal. I had the clam chowder. The first clam was full of sand. The nexr bites were good, then the next two were so full of sand my wife heard me bite into it. It was however hot.Now for the really bad. My wife ordered the scallop dish, it was like $47. It came cold, luke warm at best. They immediately brought a new one. It came hot and good, but I was already finished with my meal. They brought the check, I really expected a credit for something, there was none. We were also seated at a table for two. It was right when you entered the restaurant. It was like a freeway on both sides of us.Sorry Tim, I don't know that we will be back.
