Service was fantastic, prices were reasonable (relatively speaking), and the food was excellent. I came here while traveling for work and will absolutely make it a point to eat here the next time I'm in town.

Trendy with upbeat music -- three floors! Last night was one of the busiest nights that I've ever happened across in the North End! My dad and I wandered around -- we hadn't planned to be there and quickly realized that we were going to have trouble getting a table for two at 7:15pm on a Saturday night! We stopped by 4 locations before finding Assaggio. You didn't have any tables open at the time but you sat us at a couch table setup where we ordered appetizers and I ordered my first Aperol Spritz! Shortly thereafter, we were moved to a high top (as promised)! I used to work in the restaurant business and I truly didn't expect that we would be moved to a better table... I expected to be forgotten about! The eggplant parm appetizer was to-die-for. It simply fell apart (in a good way) and could be easily cut with a fork. We then moved on to our main course. I got the gnocchi and my dad elected to go with the broccoli rabe pasta dish. I tasted his and the complexity of the flavor mingled with the sauce, made me wish that I had a bottomless stomach and that we ordered 10 more dinners. I will absolutely absolutely come back! Note that this restauranteur owns many locations around the North End and they are opening a new location on Hanover street! We look forward to dining with you again!!!

One of my favorites in the north end. It's tucked away off Hanover which I like. It is a very intimate ambience, but the top floor is more of an upscale lounge area that I like to do dinner with friends. Food: For apps my top two are the octopus and carpaccio. Octopus is done phenomenally, not chewy or tough. Beef carpaccio is very flavorful. For meals I love chicken parm, the cutlet is done perfect, thin and crispy. The "pompei" is my favorite pasta dish on the menu, but gone here many times I have never once had a bad dish. Drinks: lemon drop martini here are amazing. If you enjoy espresso martinis, I also highly suggest to try one. The service here is always 10/10 with the staff being very welcoming and accommodating.

We went here as a group and the food was delicious. I like that the calamari has fried onion and shrimp included. The short ribs were delicious. The meatballs were good. I enjoyed the wine.

The ossobuco was very good, and the sauce was particularly great. What really stood out was the risotto though, excellently cooked and rich in flavor. The greens were too salty which was the only minor flaw.

Great ambiance and food was delicious. Service was also amazing during dinner however when it came to boxing up the food, I realized they didn't seem to have boxed the entire dish. I couldn't finish the whole Positano and had a lot of clams leftover. However when I checked my box, it only had one in there. It's probably something minor to some people but still disappointed that this was done. Overall dining experience was nice though.

So delicious! I was impressed! Wanted to find a great Italian place in little Italy and we did. The only negative was the air conditioner broke in one of the rooms so it was super hot but it wasn't their fault. It was still worth it and an amazing. We started with the assaggio salad which was the perfect small starter salad. My mom and I split 2 meals. The first was a spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta the meatballs and sauce were all great. The next was chicken parm. It was cooked perfect and tasted great. We didn't have dessert but that would prob be good too. Would love to return next time I'm in Boston

Took advantage of restaurant week in the north end and decided to try Assaggio. A beautiful place with three floors and an open kitchen. We were greeted right away and had a great window seat. They had a large drink menu offered some very fine and expensive wines. Our dinner started with calamari and an octopus appetizer. The calamari was plentiful with onion rings and a mixture of fried seafood. My octopus was a beautiful plate with perfectly cooked octopus. Main dinner was their mama's lasagna and Zappa di pesce. The pasta was delicious and obviously made in house. For dessert we had the chocolate soufflé and the vanilla bean panna cotta. Wow! I am not sure which was more pleasing

Very intimate restaurant. The table service was nice and friendly and checked up on us frequently. Had to wait a few minutes when we first entered as the host wasn't there but wasn't too bad. On the pricier end but the quality is there. The menu seemed a bit limited to me but at least there were various vegetarian options as well as non-pasta options. I went with the lamb chops and they were delicious! My old fashioned wasn't the greatest but it wasn't terrible. All in all a good place for a special occassion.

My friend wanted to come here for his birthday, so I arranged reservations and they offered a table upstairs in the lounge, which had a more open vibe and atmosphere rather than the intimate one downstairs. The girl on the phone offered for a birthday cake or dessert with a candle and I said that would be fantastic. She said she put a note in for our reservation the next day. We came a little early, and were invited to sit at the bar upstairs prior to being seated. Doreen was an excellent(!) bartender. We were then seated nearby and Frank was our waiter. He was extremely hospitable and immediately wished my friend a happy birthday. I ordered the Margarita pizza for an appetizer, while I ordered the Maori (spaghetti + meatballs) and he ordered his favorite lasagna. TEQUILA SUNRISE: 5/5MARGHERITA PIZZA: 4.5/5 (dip it in the pesto olive oil that comes with the bread, thank me later)MAORI: 5/5LASAGNA: 5/5The food was amazing. The ambiance -- amazing. Service, also amazing. However at the end of the meal they did not come out with any dessert or candle which I was super disappointed about. Doreen did come by and offer a free birthday drink, but he does not drink alcohol, so... Definitely disappointed with birthday service offered and not delivered (not a reflection of Doreen or Frank). -- Returned the next week to see how it was for a regular occasion even though the birthday was disappointing. The mussels were decent, the Maori was good, but service was slow, and we were seated right next to another group even though the floor was empty other than one other table. We weren't able to have a private conversation because they were so close (2 ft away max)! We waited a very long time to place our orders on the eve of Thanksgiving because ALL the waitstaff were watching the Celtics game in front of us. We were there for 2 &1/2 hours because they would all check on the table at once and then leave us for 45-60min. We also had 3 different waiters while we were there which was weird. ambiance: 5/5food: 4/5drinks: 4/5service: 3/5Assaggio: 3.5/5Assaggio is absolutely beautiful with hospitable staff, and quality, delicious food. However, I don't think it is the place to come for a birthday or on a game day. I gave them 2 chances, not sure if there will be a third. Maybe for a very casual meal with lower expectations. * Service rating due to no birthday cake when offered, bad seating arrangement second time around, and not paying attention when Celtics game was on and room nearly empty. Doreen + Frank are exempt from rating, they both get 5 stars.
