We drifted in for lunch after a morning of hunting, to find the restaurant deserted, but very clean and well-kept. The waitress/cook (only person there) was friendly enough. After waiting for an hour we got our food, and it was ok. Nothing special. The wait was unreasonable, given the fact that we were the only patrons the whole time we were there. When our check came, it was $89 for one steak and carne guisada. The waitress just smiled and laughed when I asked if there was some mistake. "Yes, the 'market price' for the ribeye is $49"Kinda explains why no one else was there. If you want ordinary food at eye-popping prices, ZJ's is the place to go.

Absolutely terrible. We pulled up at 5:40 on a Saturday night and were the only ones in there. It didn't take us long to find out why. Prices are ridiculous. Food looks nothing like the pics they have on Facebook. Charged us $.25 for a lemon in our water. Charged us $.79 for butter to go on our baked potatoes. Sirloin steak looked like it was bought from one of those frozen meat trucks. Would bet money the shrimp came from the frozen section at Walmart. Unbelievably bad. Very disappointed.

We were staying in nearby Cisco and there aren't many restaurants open on Sundays. We came across this place on Yelp, so we tried it. This restaurant is definitely off the beaten path, but it is so delicious! My family and I had chicken-fried steak, baked potatoes, grilled chicken, and the salad bar. Everything is made in house, from scratch, including the rolls, cornbread, and pies. Laura, the owner, was super friendly and very hospitable. We highly recommend this restaurant, everything was fabulous!

Although the restaurant was empty (one other couple) it took almost 45 min to get our food. And then it was cold. This was our second visit, about 8 months after our previous experience, which was also underwhelming. While we try to support local businesses, we also expect appetizing food served at appropriate dining temperatures. When we let the server know the food was cold she appeared startled and eventually asked if we would like to send it back. After noting all the plates had mostly cold food we decided not to as it was late and they did not appear to be working on putting out food to earn a future customer.

Surprisingly good local spot! The salad bar was excellent and very fresh, and the portions were enormous! The service was great, Jose, our server was very friendly. It's hard to find food this good in such a small town. Highly recommend.

I had friends visiting Eastland County on a Sunday and I was very happy to find Zj's to be one of the few places open. We went middle of the afternoon so it wasn't very busy. The food was good, especially the fried okra which we all shared and enjoyed. We all came away satisfied and grateful to have found such a tasty lunch

Would not recommend... we each had the steak and shrimp. For $20 the steak was tough and didn't have a good flavor, and the 4 shrimp tasted like the precooked shrimp from the frozen section at the grocery store tossed on the grill for a couple of minutes. To top it off, they charged $0.78 for butter on the baked potato and $0.25 for lemon in my water. Will not go back.

Our server was awesome. The food was beyond good the second visit also. Steak was perfect and the onion rings were the perfect batter. Salad bar has lots of options.

ZJ's makes a creditable effort to distinguish itself as something more than a another small-town cafe, presenting a expansive menu for such a small place. It does hit some high notes, the club sandwich had a very nice cut of ham and the onion rings appear shop made, but it also stumbles, the rings had almost no taste, suggesting the batter is bland and I felt they suffered from being in frying oil past its prime. Biggest issue is how overpriced it is, a CFS of 8 ounces is $16, I had club sandwich, onion rings and a coke, my bill with tax was just short of $17, for a sandwich, soda, and five rings.
