After getting off work on a late and freezing evening, we decided to stop by Yama. I ordered the wasabi French fries, salmon skin roll, Nabeyaki udon, and the katsu curry. The wasabi French fries were a real standout-crispy and just the right kick of heat. The salmon skin roll and the Nabeyaki udon were both decent, but I wouldn't order it again. My brother thought the katsu curry was good. While the food isn't exactly mind-blowing-more on the mid side, around a 3.5/5 in my book-it's a decent choice for a late-night option when nothing else is open. The ambiance is casual with those laid-back, late-night vibes, and the service is straightforward, nothing fancy but friendly and efficient.Overall, it might not be the best spot if you have a plethora of dining choices during the day, but for those late nights when options are limited, it's a dependable and decent pick.

We visited a couple weeks ago during their grand reopening and waited about an hour to be seated. Here's what we got: Double pleasure: solid basic role. Wife really enjoyed this. Loved the crunch complemented by the freshness of the fish. Cucumber salad: did not like . Would not order again. Karage: usually a good indicator of how good the izikaya will be and I have to say this place passed the taste. Nothing special, just good crispy chicken with some sauce on the side. I love my Karage with a lot of lemon, so I definitely squeezed a couple lemons on top of the plate. Creamy udon: the hype is real. Very creamy and FILLING. We enjoyed it, but wouldn't get it again just because we were satisfied having it once. All nigiris good. Yellow tail favorite. Quality is good - not the best. But with these prices you shouldn't expect omakase style fish either. Price to quality ratio was adequate. Our server PJ was fantastic! Really affable! Loved him. I asked for lemons a couple times and he got me a small plate each time. He was also very quick! We'd add items to our order as we'd go and he'd quickly place the order. For how busy they were, the food was coming rather quickly. Because this place is open till 2AM, it's a solid late night spot.

Reopened and back in business! I used to go pretty often for their $1 sushi wed nights however the menu has changed since. Some pieces are still $1 but most of fish types like Yellowtail and salmon are now $2. Food is same as before and good to have on the side with some drinks. It's not the best sushi in the area but it's good and I really like their rice! Good place for groups and date nights! Some of my favorites are: salmon, yellow tail, spicy salmon, masago and surf clam. I also really enjoy their onigiri my favorite being spicy cod roe. However I do wish they would add more filling it's mostly rice.

I've been to all the Yama locations and have grown tired of some location's selections. Often times quality isn't good and it misleads you to thinking it's a good deal when it's the opposite . However, my experience at this location surprised! Quality was fresh and good portions! I went to their grand reopening and the line was crazy long! I wasn't sure about wanting to wait since I've been let down by Yama many times but I had promised to meet my friend here and I'm glad we went!!! Uni was super fresh! The creamy seafood udon was my favourite!!! And the karage portions were huge!! The king salmon was also delicious!!The only complaint I had was customer service and rude hostesses. But regardless, food was good!

Been seeing a lot of TikTok post about this place for the $1 sushi on Wednesday. BE AWARE!The $1 sushi is only for cheap nigiri like avocado and egg nigiri. If you want salmon or any other fish, it's a lot more. Plus you have to order a minimum of 10 so an order. Very misleading and disappointing. Sushi was okay but def a little overpriced

Came here for the grand reopening and had a great experience! Service was relatively fast despite it being so busy and I liked the new decorations and vibe. I love their spicy cod roe onigiri which seemed to have pretty generous amounts of cod roe. The salmon onigiri was just okay however, average flavor and not that much salmon. The karaage was a little bit tough and the portions was about average.

I went to yamas regrandopening for all of their deals and the deals were so good! I've never been to this Yama I only ever went to the one in Dallas, but I gotta say the quality of food was great. The service was also amazing, the staff was very attentive. I really loved the inside of the restaurant too it definitely gave a homey feeling. I would def be back for their sushi deals, cause who doesn't love cheap eats??

I really enjoy Yama for a late spot! I normally get the creamy seafood udon without shrimp (allergy) and it never fails- it's honestly one of my favorite dishes to eat. We tried the katsu curry this past time and it wasn't our favorite. The curry was kind of bland and it didn't taste like your typical Japanese curry. The atmosphere is always welcoming and service is fast, so I do suggest trying this spot.

We went to Yama at another location and overall it's good.We do like this place, they have good quality of fish and good variety. But for their grand reopening at Carrollton location. They had deal on sushi and food. We ordered 55 pieces of sushi, for $108 without tax and tip. Sounded good on price/qty but 3 people ate and not feeling full. Unfortunately the size of the sushi piece is too reduced for the deal, which made it less of a deal.I could order some regular menu item and be happier with it.

Late night Japanese place for Sushi & Sashimi and Ramen. The Pork belly soup is excellent "Buta-Kakuni". Sashimi is fresh and good plate setting. They could do better on the atmosphere for late night dining. Service is a bit slow but overall great.
