Wimpy's Hamburgers

Looking for a true divey hamburger stand? Here is where you should go! Super friendly service. A true hamburger dive. They have a large menu with lots of great sounding items, but I wanted a cheeseburger. So, I ordered a cheeseburger with mustard, mayo, diced lettuce, and a tomato slice. Then, an order of fresh cut fries and a corn dog for dessert. I also ordered a cold 20 oz bottle of Coke. The fries were pretty good! The corndog made a good dessert.

This place is very old fashioned and only takes cash. I got 3 burgers and an order of fries for me and the family. It took about 10 minutes and the lady was nice. I got it home and the fries were just okay. The burger was great though, it was a nice size for how cheap it was. There's nothing fancy here just an old fashioned burger and a good price. Would definitely go back.

Sean took me to wimpys for the wall mural. He thought this would be a great place for me to try on yelp. I'm pretty adventurous .. But um naw. This place looked like it was food poisoning potential. Lets be real this is not located in the nice part of dallas. When you roll up there are burglar bars and bullet proof glass..this is where you place your order. The place is littered with hand written notes and postings. It looks more like a concession stand at one of my kids soccer games. There were two ladies inside just standing around.I tried the onion rings...they were dripping in grease, fish grease to be more specific. There is a lot of foot traffic around the resteraunt...people coming and going.I spoke to some one who lives around the corner who said the original owner died a few years ago and the food has gone down hill since.

They get 2 stars simply because they were THE BURGER SPOT back in the day when I was growing up. Unfortunately, it has gone down, down, down, with "other" owners. Down, down, just like the photos show of the outside with raggedy tattered stuff blowing in the breeze. Food is alright, but when you look from your car the only food sign you see is BARBECUE CHICKEN. One of the online photos shows fried chicken. "No, we don't have that". Can I get fish and shrimp? "Only if you get fish, shrimp and oysters... no exceptions." So I did just get fish... and went on somewhere else to get whatever else Mom and I would have for dinner. Waiter was just killer clown faced rude - emphasized by the drawn on eyebrows - the whole time shaking her head NO. So, NO MORE WIMPY'S (Ever watch Popeye the cartoon? Wimpy was a character there who loved hamburgers. Theirs used to be TOPS, but don't even look good now!)

If you love dive bars and greasy spoon cafes then you'll love this place. It's walk-up only, you order through a small window and you may have to knock to get their attention. Most folks will get-n-go with their order but I like sitting at one of the outside tables and watching traffic go by. It's a great place to just sit and observe the dichotomy of the local neighborhood.

Generic Burger. Nothing fancy or anything to distinguish from other burgers. Fries need more salt. Overall was good 5/10

Bottom line -- if I ever find myself in a situation where Samuel L Jackson is about to shoot me in the face for stealing a briefcase from his boss, this is the burger I want in my hand. Two things to be aware of before going are that it's cash only, and you can only order from the takeout window. I ordered a simple cheeseburger and fries. I'd estimate wait time for my food to be between 5-10 minutes. The burger was tasty and the fries were crispy. If I've got any food complaints, it's that I only got two little ketchup packets for my fries. First world problems right there. The price of $7.50, tax included, was a pleasant surprise given that it costs quite a bit more to eat at inferior national chain fast food joints anymore. I experienced none of the rudeness mentioned in other reviews. The guy was just all business an no small talk, which doesn't bother me one little bit. This place definitely lives up to the sketchier the location and building, the more legit the food. One other thing to note -- I don't think the hours posted on Yelp are accurate. I believe I saw on their sign that weekend hours are shorter than posted here, so check up on that if you're headed out on a Saturday.

My good looks disgusting and taste even worst. I do not recommend this place. It need to be shut down for serving this.

Short story:I definitely recommend. My new fave burger in town.Long story:I've passed by so many times and finally went!It looks like a cute mom and pops place. Soon as you pull up just knock on the window, they take your order, and within a few minutes your order is ready and they'll wave at you from the window when it is. They're pretty fast!I gave it a 4 star because of the neighborhood and truthfully there's nothing aesthetic about the area - for those who are into that. But the people who work there seem very nice and like hard workers. I ordered the burger and fries and it only cost me $6.50. The burger was REALLY good. I'm definitely going back.

The service is awful. They seem like they are annoyed that you are trying to eat at their place. Then you have to wait forever to get your food and the food comes out pretty flavorless. You're going to to have to serve better food if you have terrible drive and are cash only. As long as there's another burger joint within 3 miles I won't be coming back
