Velvet Taco is one of my go to spots! It's open late which is rare in that area. They are fast yet the food does not taste like fast food. The ingredients are always fresh and the service is really good!They have a very convenient drive thru and they deliver your order fresh and hot to your car.

Here's the thing, I LOVE Velvet Taco. But one of the people we were with got food poisoning from here. That in itself, while it 100% ruined our birthday trip to Dallas, isn't why I'm writing this review. I tried to call and tell them that we got food poisoning (and for sure knew exactly that menu item was) so no one else got sick. There was no other reason. I didn't want free food/a refund or anything else. I wasn't even planning on writing a review. The manager got on the phone and tried to convince me that there was no way it could be from there unless I had a DR note. He kept saying he was not arguing but food poisoning takes 48 hours. He refused to just hear me or listen to me Now I'm going to leave this here. Stuff happens, but when you are just dismissed for trying to help out it's infuriating and it's putting more people at risk.

I came here with a friend, looked over the menu and placed an order with a lovely cashier named Madicyn. Madicyn was funny and kind and took time to check on us after her shift which we appreciated. I ordered the rotisserie chicken, steak taco, cilantro lime rice and we split the red velvet taco. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the windy and sunny weather. The tacos are a good size and can be light or filling depending on the meat. The rotisserie chicken was delicious and juicy, the steak taco was juicy and delicious and the cilantro lime rice was decent, could have used more flavor. The red velvet cake was delicious, dense and loaded with sugar. They give you a side of cajeta drizzle.

As a pescatarian, I might have found the best taco spot for my palate in Texas! There are a lot of delicious creations for the non-meat eaters. I ordered the Beer Battered Cauliflower, Sweet Chili Shrimp, and one with a fried fish. All of them were very tasty and unique! I wish I were just a little hungrier since their other Veg options also sounded delightful! The food came out in good time and the young woman who took my order at the counter was very pleasant. There is a lot off seating inside as well so it's nice for families. The only thing I noticed there was the ample amount of flies flying about. Not sure if that's normal, but I hope they do something about that. Other than that, I don't mind coming back here for more, and am happy they have more locations!

Landed really late and was starving. This was one of the only things open and I loved that I didn't have to eat fast food at midnight. I had completely forgotten I've been to one in Chicago until I walked in and saw the menu. The woman working the counter obviously didn't want to be there and wasn't in the mood to answer any questions or offer suggestions. Also the tables outside were gross. I didn't want to touch my table at all. From favorite to least favorite, I tried the Korean Fried Rice, Chimichurri Steak, and Spicy Tikka Chicken. I'm really glad I shared the tacos because while I loved the first few bites, I got tired of the flavor pretty quickly. At first, they were unique bites packed full of flavor, but then they just tasted kinda weird after a while. Too much going on and not everything works as a taco. These tacos are definitely on the pricier side and I shouldn't be getting tired of their flavor with how much I pay. They should really provide plates or something with the tacos because they are very messy. With how much you're paying for each, I don't wanna drop a single bit of them.Took away a star for service and cleanliness.

Now on to the review!Hadn't eaten since the early morning and decided it was time to grub, Tacos were our final decision and am I glad we chose it? HELL YEAH! It's a cute little spot, that gives chill vibes, nice outdoor seating, they also serve drinks, and the staff was very nice and helpful. Now for the food?!?!?!?! I cannot recall every single thing we ordered, but some items were not photographed. All items below were tacos, unless specified it was a dip:~ Spicy Chicken Tikka~ Quesa Birria Duo (2 Tacos)~ Kobe Smash Burger~ Buffalo Chicken~ Chimichurri Steak~ Sweet Chili Shrimp~ Elote Dip and tortillas~ Rotisserie Chicken~ Queso and tortillas~ Grilled Salmon~ Mexi-Cali ShrimpEVERY SINGLE TACO WAS DELICIOUS....Point, Blank, Period. This Velvet Taco location is unmatched! I've been coming here regularly for a long time, and I can't say enough good things. The food? Always delicious. The service? Phenomenal. The people? Some of the friendliest you'll ever meet! JJ, the manager, deserves a special shoutout--his dedication to customers and his team is evident in every interaction. After living in the DFW area for a decade, we finally made our way to Velvet Taco this past Saturday evening.Overall, the food tasted great but there were some hiccups for sure.Service- 1/5 star. They forgot to give us the queso we ordered as an appetizer. The family in front of us got theirs... but ours they just forgot? I had to ask when picking up our tacos from the counter.Additionally, the tables were GROSS. What a mess. Literally it was as if they never cleaned. We watched one woman ask them to clean her table and honestly, i dont blame her.Food- 4/5 stars. The food tasted fresh, but man was it messy. It fell apart without any plates to catch the food coming out of the loaded tacos. We saw others putting down paper towels on the tables to catch the mess and they had the right idea. Just a waste of the fillings that fell out.I got two tacos and my husband got three along with queso to share. Next time we know that its wayyy too much food- haha. I will stick with one taco and queso and he said he would only have two.We both agreed the #12 brisket taco was by far THE BEST. My husband also liked the paneer taco a lot. We also enjoyed the queso blanco with the blue corn chips too.We look forward to trying it again! (And to note, this is far superior to Torchy's in quality).
