We got here at 5.30pm on a Friday night and it was empty - but within half an hour it was busting at the seams - so we accidentally picked the best time to arrive! Amazing margaritas, attentive service (thanks Manny!) and great food. I wasn't a fan of the mole sauce that came with the tortilla chips but that could be just me being picky. I had the tamale pie as I've never see anything quite like it on a menu before. It tasted amazing but was SO filling, I couldn't finish even half (definitely a dish for sharing). My kids had the beef tacos and my picky eater finished the lot! We will definitely return when we are in the area again

Interesting restaurant that's not typical north Texas texmex. The queso and chips were good, the brisket enchiladas were not that great. The brisket was overly sweet like candy sweet with lil smoke. The rice was undercooked and crunchy. Didn't understand the need for two different colored rice piles. The stuffed avocado with chicken was a decent deconstructed style salad with crunchy onion topping. The booth was overly tight for its size and with weak seat springs and microfiber cloth made it difficult to squeeze in/out. Rarely visit this side of Plano so not sure if I'd be interested in returning.

I would totally recommend coming and asking for Abi!!! She did a girl right!!! Came on a Thursday (cause tacos aren't just for Tuesdays) and heard from a friend this place to try this place out. Abi was more than welcoming and helped me out cause I was hungry!!! I started off with the queso blanco don't forget to add the beef!!! So good and had the red line Rita to drink (Abi's suggestion) prefect after a long day!!! 10/10 would recommend any time!!!!

Not a fan of Tex mex food but this restaurant did it right. I requested my Carne asada medium rare- and they delivered! Great service and lots of space- we came in as a party of 8. In the end we ordered the smores dessert dish, which included banana, strawberry and regular flavored marshmallows. My only thing- they should look into playing tejano music and not reggaeton (that threw me off).

Amazing Nachos and Even Better ServiceMy recent visit to Urban Rio Cantina was nothing short of fantastic. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this place is a cut above the rest when it comes to Tex-Mex dining. Let's start with the nachos--they were absolutely amazing! Perfectly crispy tortilla chips piled high with all the right toppings, each bite was a delightful mix of flavors and textures. The cheese was perfectly melted, and the fresh toppings added a delicious contrast. If you're a nacho lover, you must try them here. But what truly set Urban Rio Cantina apart was the incredible service. After heading upstairs, we were pleasantly surprised by the vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The rooftop area offered a great view and a lively yet relaxed vibe that made our visit even more enjoyable. The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the bartender. She was exceptional, providing impeccable service throughout our visit. It felt like she knew what we wanted before we even had to ask! Her drink recommendations were spot-on, and she made us feel welcome and well taken care of, despite how busy the place was.Overall, Urban Rio Cantina offers a wonderful combination of delicious food and outstanding service. Whether you're going for the amazing nachos or just want to enjoy a drink in a fantastic atmosphere, this place is a must-visit. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning soon!

The food is still good but most items have gotten more expensive. On top of the higher prices, you'll gain experience in being nickel-and-dimed.$1.00 for 2 pats of butter in parchment paper$1.00 for a sliced jalapeño$1.25 for sour cream (less 2 oz)$1.50 for a few tortillas

I've been going here since pre-Covid. This place has great food, but the service not so much. I went today with a friend of mine and waited 10 minutes for our drinks (water and sweet tea) and I was charged $12 to add shrimp to my quesadillas. Unfortunately, the last few visits I've had here, as also mentioned in reviews of long-time customers, have not been so great. It's still a nice spot for gossip sessions, though.

This was the location of a co-workers retirement lunch. It was a great location with fabulous food to celebrate her. We were in the back in a private room so we had the right ambiance for the conversation with our group of around 15. I had the stuffed avocado at the recommendation of our server and it didn't disappoint. The flavor of the chicken was a great complement to the avocado and other elements of the dish. I'm glad I had the chance to check the place out and look forward to checking it out for dinner and drinks with my husband.

I used to love coming here, however the past few visits were disappointing. Chips and salsa were good, service was good. however, the past few times I went, the enchiladas were cold. It just didn't taste as good as it was a couple years ago.

We went last night (a Saturday). The food was pretty good, but the staff was NOT friendly.SERVICE/STAFF:We were not welcomed by the hostess, but seated immediately since it was somewhat early (6pm-ish).Our waitress, Toya W, was NOT in a good mood. Maybe she was having a bad day (if so, bless her heart), but it seemed more like she hated her job (if so, get another one. There are plenty out there). She was somewhat impatient with our ordering (first time visit for the 4 of us at the table). She was efficient and got everything we needed or asked for, but generally not friendly although we kept trying to engage with her.No "thanks for coming" from anyone and no manager in sight. You would think on a Saturday night, a manager would be checking on the tables and dining room, but no where in sight. It may be why when we left about 8pm, the dining room was 1/2 empty. More restaurants fail when there is not a "hands on" manager around and the staff is left to run the restaurant.FOOD: My husband and I ordered the Chili Relleno. I may not be right, but to me, it seemed like one that was freshly fried from frozen. The chili was tough and the crust seemed like something from a frozen item. I specifically asked Toya if there was any cilantro on/in the dish as I don't like cilantro. She assured me there was not. When the dish came out, it was topped with pico de gallo that was full of cilantro. I had to pick all of that off. It wasn't terrible, but I would not order it again. The people with us ordered the Brisket Enchiladas and the Chicken Quesadillas. Both of those items were REALLY good.A positive item was that they had a "happy hour" special on a cocktail. Since most restaurants don't do this on a weekend, that was nice to see
