This place seems to us to be trying to be a play on a speakeasy. The doors are kind of masked, the windows are blacked out, the ambiance is quite dark but lavish, and there are a lot of pretty old school liquors. The menu is diverse but consise. I had lemon blueberry angel food cake french toast. It was exactly what that sounds like, dessert for brunch and it was delicious. My parents split waygu sliders and bone marrow. Chloe was behind the bar and greeted us and seemed to be running it all on her own. She was positively delightful.

Add this to your date night place list, and a reminder to make a reservation online first! Intimate, swanky, stylish, appealing. Lots of people wear black, we noticed (we did too, lol)! The wine list is on an interactive iPad, very cool. You can filter for your exact desires and just point to it to order. If you don't like mustard, you won't like the deviled eggs. If you do, the whole bite is a lot, but really good! The steak frites are fantastic, I subbed the fries with the Thai Brussels sprouts and am really glad I did. Daughter got chicken parm and raved about the pasta (not rigatoni as stated on menu), instead it was rotini. This changes the way the sauce clings, but she liked it either way. The truffle fries are a great plate to share!Service is wonderful. The quality of food is good, but comparatively in the area, it's about par and not over the top awesome; the deviled eggs were very much too big a bite and over-mustard, even for a person who loves mustard! I'm happy to come again and give it another shot.

You can't serve those mushrooms! Did the chef not taste them? Way, way too salty. Embarrassing. Overall: excellent meal, chill patio atmosphere, gracious host/server (i imagine thats a two person job regularly, we reserved a table on Patrick Bateman time on a Sunday), decadent deviled ages, perfectly executed beef wellington, perfect prime filet (sauce could have been warmed up), killer carrot cake desert. Top stuff, really. I had a green tea. The patio was noisy but what do you expect? DFW traffic is part of life. I'd rather leave the patio open and live with the noise, but it would bother many people. You gotta work with what property you have.A little pricey but lets all blame the Democrats!Seriously though, the mushrooms can't leave the kitchen like that. Good God. It's like having your friends and family over to see your new house and you didn't scoop up the dog crap in the kitchen. "Do you think they'll notice?"That's too bad, because I really like what you're doing. If the menu is trying to do too much, that's ok by me. Yeah, I would like perhaps more focus, but it's fine as long as you're hitting all the categories confidently. I know you're not confident in the meal-killing mushroom side dish.I would like to come back and try the other entrees, but I'd fear the mushroom incident invading other dishes... what happened there? No self respecting chef can sign off on those. How long have you been serving those?

Okay, I apologize for blaming the restaurant for things out of their control...people are just plain loud af in this area so my initial visit's mind numbing loudness was more to do with the fine specimens of the area than the restaurant..Tried it again.. food was better, drinks were fantastic and honestly, the chocolate cake was what really won me over. That cake is worth every penny and calorie.

Our review of tycoon based on an early Sunday dinner: food and service here rivals that of the big steakhouse chains. Our server, Joel, was outstanding - always attentive and available, and provided great recommendations. The prime rib was well seasoned and a perfect medium rare (medium for the wife).Sides from best to not best:1) creamed corn - omg the corn here is out-of-this- world and is a must-order. They brûlée the top of it!2) brussels- great flavor with a bit of kick - delicious3) creamed spinach - very close behind the Brussels. Nice rendition of a classic with shavings of Parmesan cheese on top 4) duck fat fingerling potatoes - had us at duck fat but these don't compare to the other sidesPairing of a Daou Cabernet was perfect and their bottle pricing is extremely reasonable considering the quality of this wine.Carrot cake has a citrus drizzle on it which changes the flavor profile in a good way. It's pricey but it basically serves 2-4.Final pro tip if you got this far: there is a Sunday special on the Prime Rib which is an insanely good deal.We loved Tycoon and will definitely be back!

4.5 out of 5. Only reason being was the drink prices were a little pricey, I guess that's average now. But overall experience was GREAT! Went for my wife's birthday and she loved it! They had a sign with her name, everyone said happy birthday to her. Waiter recommended great drinks. We got the Wagu sliders (comes with 2) good portion, since they were filling for a starter. I got the Chicken Parmesan was delicious, so hot I almost burnt my tongue, good portion as well. My wife got the Prime Rib steak, which was far the best we've ever had!! The portion side, cooked to her liking, so much juice on it! We will definitely be back!!

We did the Valentines set menu and it did not disappoint! There was a variety of choices! We picked the salmon crispy rice which was a nice appetizer. The crab bisque was one of the best I've had with real crab bits! I picked the miso sea bass and it was moist, flakey and flavorful. The dessert trio was delicious. The serving sizes for the price was amazing! We had leftovers to enjoy the next day. Great ambiance and service too!
