Fort Worth's Oldest restaurant.A historic restaurant serving delicious TexMex food in the heart of old downtown Fort Worth since 1926. The Roosevelt Special-We had meals fit for a president: "a world famous" cheese enchilada with chili, 1 beef taco and 1 bean chalupa. It is a big beautiful plate of food. Check the pictures. It is listed on the menu as "The Roosevelt Special." This is the restaurant's signature dish that was created in honor of Franklin D Roosevelt who visited the restaurant in 1936. Tasty spicy flavorful food. The chips, and salsa are exceptionally good too. Thin crispy chips fresh salsa and salsa picante with bite. A beautifully decorated interior that mixes Mexican, and a little TexMex décor with the building's historical ambiance. Very comfortable, with a warn relaxing feel. Excellent attentive service. An while you are there explore downtown Fort Worth. The Roosevelt Special is recommended on your first visit.

Incredible food and really great service! We went there late to have dinner with our family; pretty large party and they accommodated us perfectly. We used to go there plenty of times when it was formerly El Rancho Grande. The chips here are SO good idk what they do to their tortillas but I love them and am still mad I didn't order a bag to go. My only cons are that it was a bit pricey (we spent over $200 for a family of 5) and my daughter has a medical stroller; where we were seated did not have any ramps to get where our table was. Just for the prices alone, we prob won't be back with our family again for a while-- but it's definitely worth a date night splurge to eat there!

I've been wanting to visit The Original Del Norte for some time, and today, it finally came to fruition. I knew a restaurant that was nearly a hundred years old would be good, and it was good. The puffy tacos were excellent, as were the beans (my favorite thing on my plate, actually). The service was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant space was very nice, with lots of traditional Mexican decor. They had a separate bar area, as well as more dining space upstairs. They also have Happy Hour, early dining, and weekday specials. I will go back

This was my first trip to The Original! One of Fort Worth's oldest establishments! My friend and I stopped in for a late lunch or early dinner however you want to look at it. The ambiance is fantastic. You can tell this is an older building and they have maintained it well. There is a lot of room inside so plenty of options for everyone including a separate bar area ! Our server Cindy was fantastic! She took care of us from start to finish never missing a beat and making kind suggestions!! Once I saw they had quail on the menu I had to have it and it was delicious !! They grilled it up to perfection. The flavor was on point and I was very satisfied with my selection. If you have never tried quail this will be a great place to try it out! I'll definitely be back to try more item from the menu!

Not the original Original (sadly we lost the Camp Bowie location) but still good for what it is. Decent tex mexican food in a fun location, good margaritas, friendly vibe.

Was a regular at their original location on Camp Bowie. They haven't missed a beat since this became their main location. Definitely my favorite Tex Mex in town & about as close as you can get to San Antonio style Tex Mex here in North Texas. Highly recommend their puffy tacos or the enchiladas. I've had friends say their chicken fried steak is also a gem. Skip the Joe T line and come here instead! Great food, better service.

This is our favorite Mexican food. Joe Garcias for ambiance, but the best food is here.New owners several years ago (The old El Rancho Grande) and they kept what was good about El Rancho Grande (Chips and Salsa, and great Enchiladas with home made meaty chili), and they added their own stuff.Generous take out also. I recommend a to-go salsa and chips. This place is not cheap, but it's worth a few extra dollars.

If I could give this place NO stars I would. Worst service I've ever experienced and on top of that they add 20% gratuity for their crappy service. And the food and drinks are disgusting. Don't waste your time coming here.
