I am a frequent blood donor and on the days that I donate, I always have steak & spinach. I was in Dallas and I thought I'd try a new restaurant. The diner is small & cute. They were t very busy for a Wednesday. When my plate arrived I was taken back with the small amount of spinach, but the steak looked good, but was sadly over done. What really ruined my lunch was the cold hash browns. What a bummer.

This place is like a Texas version of Luke's Diner from the Gilmore Girls. It's homey, loved by the community and the food speaks for itself I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was perfectly seasoned. The gravy was very tasty. I didn't order coffee but my friends did and the staff was very attentive when it came to refills. If ever in Dallas, I'll be sure to come back. Thank you for the energy boost Goldrush!

This was my first visit here and I must say it lives up to it's reputation. Since I and my family were sitting near the door I wasn't able to take in the full ambiance of the place but from what I saw I'd say "quirky " with a nod to Elvis. The food was good diner fare and the servings were generous. I had the Taco Omelett. Topped with a generous amount of cheese, the filling was well seasoned taco meat. I opted for the refried beans and toast. Delicious and filling. Others had the eggs, sausage, hash browns, and biscuit And a pancake. The eggs were beautifully sunny side up. The biscuits looked light and fluffy. Pancakes came with butter and a shot glass of syrup. Service was unobtrusive and efficient. And the place was packed with folks waiting outside. Parking can be tight in front. I'm not sure about other parking options. The Gold Rush Cafe's reputation is well earned. I'll be back.

Even better than before. The John Wayne cannot be beaten. I get mine with sausage and grilled onions and bell peppers. Salsa on the side. The hash browns are crispy which you rarely ever get. Eat half then the other half like a taco. Fantastic. Service is so quick and efficient and the ambiance is great as they have added an ELVIS outside. They also have $3 beers 12-3 on Thursday and Fridays.

Came here in the morning looking for a quality breakfast experience and was definitely left satisfied! The service here was great and the ambience, especially if you're from Dallas, was awesome. They have plenty of memorabilia to gaze upon from Dallas sports teams to John Wayne. They really do have a little bit of everything.Their menu is exciting and fun to look through as they have tons of breakfast options to pick from. The names of some of their dishes are interesting too as one is literally named after John Wayne himself. I had the corn beef and hash with eggs over easy. It also came with hash browns and a choice of grits, toast, or English muffins.Overall, I definitely recommend if you're looking for a nice hole in the wall breakfast joint in the Lakewood area of Dallas!

Embarrassed it took me so long to try this place but it's great for breakfast. Classic diner treats (and they have beer/wine!). Expect to wait but it's worth it.

This local diner is the spot for a good ol home cooked breakfast. The decor is all things sports in Dallas. Food hits the spot and the service is always great. This is the spot for quick and delicious pancakes and eggs with a side of bacon meal. Haven't tried there lunch but I bet it's just as good!

My go-to local place for breakfast. The menus prices in the menu photos are very old--so don't be surprised with a bit higher prices but still super reasonable . Owner George is very friendly and accommodating. Food is delicious and plentiful. I had special Fresh strawberry waffles yesterday for $8. Highly recommend! FYI--go early on Saturday as the place fills up fast! Just read a 1 star review and have to ask reviewer if she mentioned her dissatisfaction to owner because I KNOW he would have fixed the issue--and steak doneness is very subjective in my opinion. However when my eggs are done 'normal' cook, instead of well done as I like, I just send them back and they fix the issue to my satisfaction---has only happened a few times and I eat there 2-3 times/week. Please only write a negative food review if you asked the server to fix the issue and then it wasn't fixed. Give a business a chance to fix issues first. Ask for more spinach, say something is cold. Etc.
