Tam Tam Zings Bar & Grill

This was my first visit to an African cuisine in Texas and they did not fail. I really enjoyed how clean it was upon my arrival. The inside was decorated with beautiful art and great music . The waiting on the food did not take long. My kids ate their whole plates. The only suggestion I would give is to not have so many TVS running all at once. ow if it's the weekend I would see the meaning for it but not on the weekdays.

You need to be really disappointed to write a bad review and unfortunately my visit tonight was not a good one. The place is nice and clean and the music is great- a little loud so can't have a conversation. After walking in, I wasn't greeted by a hostess and had to guess on whether it was a sit yourself down kind of situation or order at the front. The hostess looked as lost as me. I was the only one here and waited almost 45 minutes for my food. An UberEats driver stopped by and we waited together for another 15 minutes. He got his food before me; that was understandable as they had ordered ahead. Service was very slow as I was the only one here. I spent more time waiting than eating. I order the Inoko with Plaintain & chapati.Inoko: super dry, tough, and lacked flavor. the waitress informed me that they don't season their chicken and it is served plain. I've never been to a place that serves plain chicken- not even a hint of salt.Plaintain: there's no way you can mess up Plaintain. Unfortunately, mine was left in the oil for too long and my plantains weren't ripe- it wasn't sweet at all. You eat plaintain for their sweetness; I was essentially just drinking oils. Chapati: This was the one I was looking forward too, but was once again let down. There's no way you can mess up chapati. Chapati is super simple- it's supposed to be very fluffy with lots of layers. No, mine was drenched in oil and was hard- and may have been fried with the same oil as my plantains. Drink: The passion fruit juice was great! No complaints.Overall: 1/5. This place has amazing reviews and I was sooo excited to try it out. I love East African Food. The menu has East African names but the food lacks flavor and authenticity. I may have stopped on a bad day, as nothing about this visit was great. The owner wasn't there. Just the cook and someone out front. I left hungry and had to go elsewhere for a sandwich. Leaving a plate of food at a restaurant and going home hungry is a different kind of disappointment. Shida kweli.

Service was great ! Food was delicious! Will definitely return for the kabobs. Clean and inviting atmosphere. My new go to spot for flavorful food.

Where do I start! There's that saying never judge a book from its cover! This place is exactly that! I pulled up already assuming that we should go somewhere else! The place I tell ya is fireeeee! Right when we walked in, the vibes are set with one of my favorite genres of music AFROBEATS! Nothing better than eating to music you love!We started off by getting the sambusas and man I would just ordered 3 plates of those and been happy with my meal! The sambusas are crispy, juicy, and flavorful all in one bite! The sauce that come with it is a must and just adds more flavor to it! You have to start off with this! Trust me it won't disappoint!My wife ordered the kabobs lamb and goat and she swallowed her plate in five minutes . That should explain that!I got the goat plate with fufu! My first time eating this before and I am amazed! I just wish I didn't eat so much of the sambusas . The goat plate is packed with everything you can think of! Very delicious meal. I just know next time to come with an empty stomach! Y'all this place is amazing! I grew up personally with a lot of Africans! My best friends were from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Sudanese! These guys never offered me any of this when we were younger and I am disappointed! Lastly, I highly recommend this place to everyone! Especially to people that like to try new foods from around the world! Thank you the ppl here and big thanks to the cook! The food was amazing!

Very very good food and great staff. We were able to watch the game on TV and enjoy our food with good conversation. It's a clean place with pool tables in the back. Can't wait to go back

Very small place with a big heart. While you may have to tip your head into the kitchen to get attention, the food is top-notch. There's African music in the background, sports on the TVs, a full-service bar, and a nice, comfortable seating area of tables and booths. We'll be going back for more. Between our three diners we had sambusas to start, then lamb kabob dinner, chicken kabob dinner, and beef stew. The spinach is amazing, the fou fou outstanding, and don't miss their dessert - it's kind of a bread/biscuit/not too sweet an ending. The waitress will explain anything you don't know about or have questions on. Great eating. Be careful: we all ate too much!

I forgot to leave a review last week, but this is always a nice spot. Great food. Great customer service everything's on point I love coming here treat me like family five stars easily.

Service was great and very personable. The owner came out and greeted us and took time to give us history on the restaurant and food. This is a family owned and run business.

Customer service was awesome! Warm, friendly and informative. Our food was not what we expected. The meat was flavorful but tough. Not sure if we'd return but very friendly staff.

Great service and wonderful food. I will definitely recommend everyone to try this place out. Very clean as well
