We wandered in after the lunch rush on a Thursday, driven by this spot's high praise and its place of honor in my 'Yelp BBQ collection.' A warm greeting set the tone in the nearly empty dining area. Having done my homework, I had my heart set on the dry-rub chicken wings, despite my husband's skepticism. Trust me, I knew they'd win him over.We also grabbed the lunch deal: a sandwich (brisket, naturally), borracho beans, and a creamy jalapeño corn side that intrigued me (cinnamon in the corn, maybe?). The wings--get the HOUSE RUB, seriously--were life-changing. Crispy, sweet, spicy perfection. Hubby had to admit I was right (a rare win I'll cherish). The brisket sandwich was solid, but those sides stole the show. Beans? On point. Corn? Addictive. Of course we needed to finish off our meal with a little dessert, the peach churro cobbler and some divine vanilla ice cream.Owners Matt & Trisha bring passion and pride to their food, and they're happy to chat if you're game. (Pro tip: engage, they've got stories!) The other staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, and even the bathrooms sparkled. We'll definitely be back--those wings alone are worth the trip.

When I tell you I've been all around the metroplex looking for good bbq, you can believe me when I say Strouderousa stands up with the giants. Not only is everything delicious, they have actual servers take orders and refill drinks and recommend menu items. I've been here 3 times now and gotten different things each time and Lord, I wish this was closer to my house so I could come here every day.Highly recommend smoked wings, ribs, green beans, jalepeno cream corn and churro cobbler (yeah you read that right. Bring on the diabeetus,I don't care).OH and the decor is awesome! Makes me feel like I'm in a backyard cabin kitchen that's incredibly clean. I also got to meet the owners during my trips there and they're amazing. Very nice, considerate and personable. Honestly, you can't ask for anything more out of a local restaurant other than "Can I have a To Go box?"

I don't usually play the restaurant lottery, especially with places as pricey as BBQ restaurants, but all my neighbors were raving about this place on another app and so I had to check them out. Small BBQ restaurant tastefully and appropriately decorated. The service was great and the ambiance, let's say was very Texas...The food here was just ok in my book. My brisket was dry, and when I say dry, I mean dry enough if this was my restaurant I personally would not have served it, it would have gone home with me as a treat for my dog (which consequently it did). No amount of their sauces (which were ok, once again not great) could moisten it enough for a pleasant chew. Thankfully, my dish included two meats and my other meat was Turkey, which was better. It too was a bit over-smoked and dry, but not intolerably so...Maybe I caught them at an off-time. Maybe my neighbors over-hyped it and I came in with higher expectations than they could meet. Either way, once was enough for me here.

The food here is absolutely incredible! The owners are amazing and work hard to create an incredibly pleasant environment. The restaurant does not smell like an overwhelming typical BBQ restaurant, which is SO nice!!! Definitely worth dining or or taking out!

Upon entrance, the host's greeting was very standard. It wasn't a genuine or joyous welcome. The host was kind enough to bring the kids high chairs to our table. That was nice. When our waitress walked up to our table, she sighed before greeting us. She then gave us the menus, etc. Again, this was very disconnected and standard. The owner was the most enthusiastic when he came to our table to ensure we were okay. My friend and I ordered the wings with the dry rub for an appetizer. The rub was great, and the meat was cooked just right. The ranch dressing was too salty, but it paired well with the jalapeno barbecue sauce. My brisket sandwich was good, but there needed to be more meat for the thick bread used. The waitress recommended the potato salad and was reassuring about its tastiness, but it tasted like something from a cafeteria. Then, it dawned on me that it tasted like a mediocre potato salad from the grocery store. My favorite potato salad from a barbecue restaurant is from Baker's Ribs. I ordered two kids' lunch portions: one with turkey meat and mac and cheese, and the other with green beans and bacon. The mac and cheese had a soup consistency. And it was just okay. The green beans were so salty that they were not edible. The sides served with the sandwich were good. The pickled onions, jalapeno, and pickles were great additions. I tried the banana pudding cupcake. The wafer was stale. And it tasted like a pound of sugar was used in the mix. This is not a kid-friendly place if you have small children. My friend and I received terrible looks from the other patrons in the restaurant, which made us uncomfortable. I understand that the place has no control over what other people do. And I didn't find the waitress to be as helpful as I hoped she could have been through the checkout process. The environment is stiff and uninviting to certain people.

Excellent meal! The food was outstanding and the staff were prompt and professional. I had the Brisket and Ribs, I wished I lived in the area cause I'd eat there a couple times a week. No pictures of the food cause it was gone before I thought of it. The owner Matt, walked around to ensure the food was to my liking. We talked about the best way to smoke ribs and Brisket. Super cool dude! Thx

What a fantastic barbecue experience! Matt and Kaitlyn were awesome in serving me and get an A+ for service. The restaurant was very clean, with modern but laidback country decor.I started with the small brisket queso (wow, huge for a small!) which was spectacular. They absolutely load it with brisket and their pickled onions/jalapeños have a nice sweetness to them!I then had The Adam plate, which was two 1/2lb meats and two sides. I had the moist brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage and frito pie (whaaaaat!?) sausage since you can pick two sausages. My sides were the deviled egg potato salad and mac & cheese (with the three cheese queso from before!). The brisket was perfectly tender, smoky, and had amazing beef flavor. The sausage was fantastic, but oh my goodness the frito pie sausage was NEXT LEVEL! Potato salad was just as I like it, very mustard forward and the queso tasted just as good with some noodles as it did the brisket.Overall, a must-visit barbecue spot in Dallas and likely to be one of my favorites going forward!
