Soulman's Bar-B-Que

We had only been here once before when they first opened. The service was great, both times we came. This time, we ordered out and enjoyed our meal at home. The chicken quarters were moist and had deep flavors that were present throughout. Seriously, the meat was so flavorful! The green beans had good flavoring and were cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and white gravy were just good enough, but no need for award winning potatoes when the chicken is boss!We got a small amount of sliced beef. It had good flavor and was super lean. Although we got our food for takeout, the restaurant looked clean. Geographically, we have lots of fast food around us, but not much quality home style cooked food. This was not a "cheap" meal, but it was not cheaply prepared either. Really good and worth the price. It's nice to have a good home cooked meal right here near our home!

I liked the food, but I wasn't bowled over by any one thing that I ate. The service was great. The staff were friendly and helpful with helping me make my food choices. I thought their ribs were better than the brisket and I appreciated they had a catfish option. I would go back because I think this is a good family dining option.

7 months later and slight minor upgrade to this joint. This time I changed my meat to chicken and brisket and spicy sausage. Very impressed with the chicken it was good and juicy buuut the brisket still sucks it was dried out and had no flavor. The spicy sausage was actually really good.Would of been a 4th star but it was barely 12:30pm and they had no pulled pork and no mashed potatoes. Floors were slick so be careful.

We had the monthly special of BBQ sandwich with side of creamed corn & fried okra. Okra was crispy as I like and no soggy corn breading, creamed corn was extremely tasty & would order again. Sandwich was good with Bbq sauce on the side. I would order again. Just a shame BBQ has gotten so expensive you can't afford to eat it.

We got the brisket & rib plates with mashed potatoes, baked macaroni and cheese, banana pudding, and a slice of pecan pie. The meat was flavorful, moist, & juicy. The sides were good & the desserts...maaan. This is our new go to spot.

They've changed a few things. I love their BBQ potato, but ordered it yesterday and some things have changed. Previously, the potato was cooked until it was practically creamy, which was perfect. This time it was chunky. No matter how long you reheat it, the potato remains chunky. The BBQ itself on top of the potato was odd. It was cut into tiny circles of meat. While it was somewhat tasty, the appearance was unappetizing. Honestly, it looked like dog food.

We were regular customers who visit the Sycamore School location on Saturday, September 7; 2024 (around 3:00 pm) and will not return to this establishment! I have a pork allergy and have never had a problem with my order request for separate utensils being used for my order.Prior to my order, I observed the meat cutter utilizing a knife to cut pork ribs. i informed the Caucasian female meat cutter that I needed my brisket cut with a different knife because I have a pork allergy; she responded "yes ma'am". Other than the order prior to us, the restaurant was empty. The meat cutter began slicing the brisket with the same knife she had used to cut the pork rib bones. I reminded her of my request, she responded "I heard you". I asked her why she continued with my order using the same knife, she didn't respond. i told her to cancel my order because I could not take the risk of becoming ill, she looked up and continued slicing. Due to her rudeness, poor customer service and total disrespect my entire party left, and vowed to never return. Now we know why the restaurant was empty ... good help is hard to find!

Yum!!! Great loaded baked potato! Had mine with chopped brisket. Meat was tender and their BBQ sauce is delicious. What a fun atmosphere! Everyone is greeted as soon as you walk in the door. Texas sets a high standard for BBQ, and Soulman's definitely passes!

Whoever makes the banana pudding deserves to have their ass ate out. This was the best banana pudding I have ever had. 5 stars banana pudding!
