Sinsational Cakes

My tastebuds and eyes had me clicking here on Yelp for the best cupcakes. I found their location which is in a slightly abandoned strip mall, and I didn't notice them right away due to the Texan-sun worn signage. Once inside they had a nice looking case with colorfully decorated cupcakes. I chose a half dozen for $20 (one dollar off if you purchase the six from the individual price of $3.50/cupcake which is sort of average). I got a variety selection, and confirmed that these are all buttercream frosting, no whipped, no cream cheese. I particularly like the decoration on the 'Sundae' cupcake with the tip of waffle cone sticking out. They have a few 'instagrammy' style tableaus with cake models and a bastion of balloons, though it seemed just slightly 'deflated' to me.Now, let's get to the cakes themselves. We tried, for starters, the Red Velvet and the Lemon varieties. I want to say that the cupcake wrappers were drenched in what looked like buttery goodness (always a good sign), and they are weighty and substantial. Though once you get your lips around these luscious looking lovelies - the cakes themselves are moist and not too heavy, with perfect moisture and balance between light and decadent - they have their batter down to a science. The decorations, on point, not 'too cute' - just right! The frostings, however, both, were slightly too sweet and not fresh or light enough for me, seemed a bit mismatched. I hope the other four cakes will be delicious, we'll consume these over the next day or so. I'd have to evaluate the entire experience before returning readily. Though I'm glad to have checked them out!

So good! We've had their delicious cupcakes and a Mimi mouse cake for my 1 yr old daughter who will be 10 in another couple days and every time the 'cakes just keep getting better! Sorry, no pictures to show.

Sinsational cakes did my husband's 40th birthday cake and it was absolutely amazing. The design was done perfectly and the cake was so moist and tasty. Definitely would recommend!
