Showdown

I love a good watering hole/hole in the wall type of bar and this has grown into my favorite in the DFW!I've been here a few times over the last year and the staff every time has been extremely friendly.There's a pool table, a fooseball table, darts, and a shuffleboard! Plenty of fun activities to play with friends over food and drinks.The drinks are quite affordable, the patrons have always been extremely friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a nice dive bar!

Ended up here because a few of us were looking for a place with a TV and a patio that was smoker friendly (yea, screw you guys) and someone mentioned Showdown. Now, I've never heard great things about Showdown, especially in years long past, especially that it had a one percenter crowd. But was told it was a cool crowd nowadays, so what the hell, I gave it a shot.I ignored the "No Motorcycle Colors" sign on the door (always a good sign) and moseyed inside. Now, I love a good dive, as long as it's not a premium price bar trying to act like a dive. If you're a dive, then show me the dive pricing. You get what you see here. This place pretty much sets the bar for what a dive should be. Furniture doesn't look like it's changed since it opened.(whenever that was, and I remember it being around in the 80's) Couple pool tables, ample bar seating, and several tables and pub chairs around. Very decent. Old and dark inside. Looking good so far.I waited till acknowledged, knowing my place on a first visit. Really amazed that they carried the borderline craft beer I drink, and super happy when it set the new low for pricing that I know about. During happy hour, it's even fifteen cents cheaper than usual. Crazy. Shots are well priced, and while maybe not overly poured, still well worth it. Service is good.The patio is a little overgrown in places, and nothing but picnic tables and some duct taped bar chairs. But the couple TV's are nice and big, and some of the patio is covered. Might not be the Ritz, but it gets the job done. I tellya, in this day in age, pretty much a smokers paradise out back.They have what I see, is a large group of regulars. Mostly middle aged but it runs the gamut. Some get a little loud when they've been there awhile (wink wink nudge nudge) but everyone is either nice or indifferent. Haven't gotten any hairy eyeball looks from anyone, and most will even come over to you on the patio and visit.One of the real values to me so far has been they serve food, and the food so far has been fantastic. I've had the burger on a couple visits, the carnitas quesadilla, and the homemade chips and "spanish sauce" and it's all really good stuff. They have other items on the menu also. I've never had anything I didn't like. This place is on regular visits with me now, and not just to watch sports and smoke on the patio. Pricing is good, people are nice, service is good. Ignore the decor and let it ride.I was going with a four star at first. But this place deserves the fifth. Probably the best dive bar I know of currently.

Awesome place. Great friendly people. Could not have been happier with the ambiance. Didn't try the food though.

My girlfriend and I stopped on the way to another bar and was completely at ease in the saloon. The Barkeeps are friendly, the place has character. Its a great dive bar with a wonderful group of people running it and some pretty colorful customers of which is part of the personality of the bar. Its like a scene out of "Shameless" at the Alibi and all the Gallaghers at one time in the bar.

This is a real Texas Roadhouse. It's dusty, off the beaten path, and the beer is cold. They have daily happy hour specials and several pool tables. Showdown's decour looks like it jumped straight off the pages of an old cowboy novel.

Showdown is exactly what you expect when you pull up, and that's not a bad thing!It's an interesting mix of UTA students, "regulars" and interesting characters, and it's always a go to spot for me.They often run specials (ask about "Happy Minutes, UTA day or the mug club) and that is in addition to the already great prices. They also have a very bar style menu that will do the trick when you need a late, fried up snack. The bartenders are great (particularly Taz and Melissa), the prices are fair and the place is entertaining (a bar where you can do your laundry would have to be). Check it out ASAP.

I like a good hole-in-the-wall bar. Bartenders are friendly and quick and you can really get good service here. Lots of TVs offer all the sports you need, great jukebox, really love the new patio area out back and they even have a bar out back. If you're solo and want to grab a beer and shoot the breeze this is definitely a Texas friendly place to go. It's set back off the road a little bit so you might have to look for it but definitely worth searching it out for a cold beer on a hot day.

It is a dive bar for sure. I drove by this place many times before but I always assumed it was closed. But, surprisingly it is a neat little place. fun decor, 2 pool tables, attentive bartenders, they even have a washer and dryer in there LOLBut... for the minus stars I have to say: please pour your drinks stronger... the shot is not a real full shot, it is half a shot. The drinks are very weak. Pricewise I must say, it competes well with the other dive bars like Milos. It is just bit divier but fun with a group of people. I wouldnt come here alone, creepy old men.

Been my "cheer's" bar for a long time. People come and go, but Diversity is good, Right? The construction out front sucks, but don't let it stop ya! It isn't #2 on Yelp for nothing!!

Awesome bar! visiting from out of town and the hospitality was amazing! The decorations are so neat to just walk around and look at. Didn't order food but it looked amazing and the beer was cheap and cold!
