Shorty's BBQ

When you see the place, it doesn't look like much. It is an old gas station converted to a down home restaurant. The food is the thing. The smoked ham was amazing. The green beans had chunks of ham and were very flavorful. The Mac n Cheese was creamy. The 'tater salad was good. It could have used just a touch more mustard to make it a bit more zesty. The brisket was tasty with a nice smoke ring. The staff were gracious with the portions. Their sauce was well made. I was too full for dessert. The cobbler looked good. We will be going back.

Although there were a ton of recommendations, we found the food to be meh. It was pricey and we were not impressed. We don't mind paying top dollar if the food is good, but this place did not win us over. Our favorite BBQ joints are Hutchen's BBQ in McKinney and Terry Black's BBQ in Dallas.

Third visit now and the food is phenomenal but something has changed where the guys working can't hear you or remember anything you say so you have to repeat your order a couple of times. It smells amazing there as soon as you pull up in your car. It's a roadside BBQ shack and it looks like one and it's built out of an old gas station but you know that going in. I had the brisket and ham this time and it doesn't disappoint. The ribs are top notch.

Went later in the day so a couple of me u items were sold out but everything that was available was great. Can't wait to give the rest of their menu a try on my next visit

Seriously, Wow! Looks can be deceiving ; what a fabulous establishment. Nostalgia beyond words. The food quality & tasty, great variety & portions are generous. The staff were stellar! Great hearts. Blessings!!!!

Excellent Texas BBQ. I had the Sampler with Mac&Cheese and Cole Slaw, and everything was exactly as delicious as I had hoped. The service was swift and attentive, even though they hit a mini-rush right before we came in. Met an old buddy and we sat and chat for 2 hrs, and loved all the historical pictures and decorations. Will DEFINITELY eat here again!

The good: excellent service and quick ordering. Casual and quiet restaurant with 8 tables and great country music playing the background. The loaded baked potato I ordered came with cold sour cream and cheese on top of a hot potato and meat = perfect. The complimentary beans were perfect, too.The not so good: I was a bit disappointed that my table was dirty. Maybe it had just been used. The meat wasn't as plentiful as I'd hoped. That said, the prices were very reasonable and felt appropriate for the value of the meal.

I have had this place on my list of places to visit for a minute. After my meal I'm so mad I haven't come here before. On appearance from the road you would not even think it was a restaurant. I walked in and was greeted I surveyed the menu and decided to purchase the special which was essentially a loaded potato salad. It was topped with my choice of meat I selected the chopped brisket. Then they piled on corn, beans, onions, cheese, and sour cream. Let me just say it does not sound that great but it was delicious!!!! I will definitely be back!!!!

Hands down best bbq ribs and chicken in three states!! The green beans and cabbage was also wonderful. Tasted like Grama used to make. Hours M - Sat 11 to 8. Closed Sunday. They are well worth the fight through the construction to get to. Just come and take a break, enjoy some down home, REAL Southern bbq and let the traffic roll on by!!

On my life and soul I was impressed with how bland this food was, I got the sampler plate and most of it ended up in the trash. I gave it a one based off whether or not I'd order this place again. I promise no exaggeration everything besides the sausage was bland.
