We had family come to town and wanted somewhere with great food so we came back to Roots. Honestly, it was somehow even better this time!We did start with that remarkable Cornbread and oh my goodness was it great. Then moved on to the Halibut, somehow the fish stayed crispy on the edges even in the broth. May have been the best fish dish I have ever had. Also had to get the fried chicken and while it was still awesome, it is the biscuits that come with it and the Apple Butter that I am still dreaming about. Whoever does the baking here is on point! We paired that with the Greens and Potato Puree. Finished up with the Orange Juice Cake which is perfect because it is sweet without being overly sweet. Our server was outstanding, friendly and right on top of the service for our whole meal and the restaurant was clean and inviting. This place is a gem in the area.

Tiffany Derry knows exactly what she's doing and this is only a small window into the proof! The atmosphere is very cozy, romantic, and inviting while the service staff is quick and efficient as well as knowledgeable. To top it off, the food was a flavor explosion that had me craving every next bite. The pork chops with the butter beans made for an absolutely unforgettable meal. The lamb was seasoned so amazingly! The persimmon carpaccio.. to die for. We wil most certainly be back!!!

Roots Southern Table has been on my list for years after enjoying the duck fat fried chicken in Austin. This location is advertised as a more high-end fare, with a more diverse menu and a selection of alcoholic beverages to enhance the experience. My partner decided book an experience through Capital One Venture X for our anniversary. We started with the fuyu persimmon carpaccio and it was very tasty! The pool of vinegar makes it quite tart, which might be too much for those who are not immense pickle fiends, but it was perfect for us. The cheese and candied nuts paired really nicely with the sweet persimmon. If I go back it'll be for this. The biscuits with butter and apple sauce are absolutely delightful. I am not a big biscuit person but I dreamt of them that night.Unfortunately, the namesake fried chicken was a huge let down. The crispy skin was a little too crunchy? It wasn't the delightful, decadent crunch I remembered. The best pieces were a bit too crunchy but some of the worse off pieces felt maybe 30 seconds from becoming a carbon coat. The meat, which I remembered to be succulent, was dry and quite flavorless.I found my salvation by putting generous heaps of that lovely apple sauce on my chicken. My partner asked for hot sauce but it wasn't spicy. And the spicier one was also not spicy. But the flavors were tart and peppery, and definitely balance out the richness of the chicken well for people who don't have the salt tolerance of a slug like me.The service was a little confusing. The staff seemed hospitable but also distracted, despite a slow evening, and we were forgotten a few times by the first few people who stopped by our table . But we were also regarded with warmth by one of the staff members and given extra apple sauce to take home upon request. When we got our check, we were surprised to see that whoever put the tip in had selected a high percentage without consulting us, which felt like insult to injury after being so let down by the chicken. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very casual. It can certainly be interpreted as a take on the cozy neighborhood diner. The music was pleasant but too loud - I think this was due to the lack of noise dampening and a lot of hard tile floor, counters and tables to bounce noise off of. We were lucky it wasn't too crowded. Overall, I think 3 stars for the food and 2 stars when accounting for rate of return for price. At Mike's Chicken or Hattie B's casual energy doesn't matter much. But when it's $56 for a chicken I do hope that more effort is put into ambiance, service, and food quality, three key parts of a dining experience. Also, just in case other cardholders were wondering - we didn't have any special perks for booking the experience - this is just to be transparent but I don't know whether it's Roots at fault for dropping the ball or Capital One for not conveying their promotion of the restaurant experience to Roots.

We had a wonderful time at this intimate spot with lovely outdoor seating. The food was flavorful and well-seasoned, with beautiful presentation. The Cast Iton Skillet Cornbread was a definite highlight -- so delicious! My husband did mention he'd prefer the arugula on the side rather than on top of his hot dish, but that's just a small thing. Brianna, our waitress, was attentive and offered great suggestions. Her service really made the experience even better. We'll definitely be back!

Have you ever been somewhere where everything was delicious? Everything was perfect? Looking no further. From the service, tow, the drinks and the food... Everything was a 10 out of 10 and I cannot wait to return to this beautiful establishment. It was really laid-back, but you can dress up to go there and it is family friendly, I cannot wait for the next time I go, I am still thinking about everything we ate.

Very classy little boutique type of a feel with a twist of country farm vibes. The food is fantastic and it's the best southern soul food with a candle I've had. Customer service was very hospitable and the apparel gave me 5 star restaurant Vegas feels. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I've been twice already and that's only because it's 45 minutes away from me. If you're one who needs food to make you feel better about being alive... Yep this is IT!

Had an amazing time tucked away in the beautiful gem! Big fan of their friend chicken family style! Come hungry, feeds for a few with about 10 pieces half and half mixed in! Thickly coated and perfectly seasoned, each bite will melt your heart! Very cozy setting, with open kitchen! You can see their lovely staff cleaning, preparing, and serving all right there! Lovely area at the bar, with great service from Oscar! He is absolutely the best! Ensure to see him if you go! The deviled eggs have a big kick of spice and you will gobble it up! Cheers! I'll be back!

This is my 3rd time visiting Roots, and I can honestly say they are consistently amazing. Taylor (Tay), our server, was excellent in creating a welcoming atmosphere and very knowledgeable of the food and drink menu. He made great drink recommendations and they both enjoyed them.Food all 10/10 - this was my first time not having the fried chicken (wish I love!) and I'm so glad I finally tried another dish!- Cornbread + the smoke butter was so good it made me wish I didn't eat it so quickly lol- Texas Red Fish was cooked to perfection. The pairing was light but I still left full and satisfied Tried by others:- Beef Short Ribs were tender and the Pommes Puree was cooked well but not the best thing from there or a stand out from other locations - Pan Seared Halibut was so good she wishes they bottled the sauce! Everything was cooked well and perfectly balanced dish.
