Rico’s Seafood and Tex-Mex

The food here is awful!!! Let's start with the shrimp cocktail...the shrimp were tough and had a bad after taste. I had a couple of bites and didn't finish it!! The 6 piece shrimp meal was awful!! The fries were limp and greasy and the shrimp was not any better! The cook asked us what was wrong with the shrimp cocktail and I told him the shrimp was too tough!! We were charged for it anyway!! Awful, awful! I had heard a lot of good things about this place! I was so disappointed! Their not worth the 1 star but you have to give them at least one!!

I just ordered 2 breakfast burritos and I must say I am very pleased. If you look at the photos in this app there is a phone number on the breakfast menu. I called ahead of time and ordered a bacon egg and cheese and a potato egg and cheese. Both were delicious. Nothing better then convenient homemade food. I also like that this is a local business and even people walking in we're saying hello to Albert who I believe is the cook and the owner. This is obviously a place with regulars. Give them a try, support local business. You won't regret it!

Disappointing. Unfortunately, we did not care for the Tex-mex at all. I ordered the combo nachos but only received beef and it was so tough I was unable to chew it up. $12.99 was a TOTAL rip off!!!! Service and the sweet tea were good but the food not so much.

Great food, the owner/cook takes a lot of care into the dish he is preparing. Family owned and they treat their customers well. Dine in or pick up I've never had a bad experience.

Food was horrible. Fries were greasy, shrimp taste like they were boxed and frozen, fish was greasy and slightly burnt. Would not recommend.

Extremely disrespectful employee! I paid cash for my food and lady didn't give me no loose change ! Said I'm the only person who worried about loose change then proceeded to charge me 25 cents extra for soft shells ! How do you keep my loose change and charge me extra for shells !! If you wanted to add money to your tip jar let the CUSTOMER add it instead of TAKING THEIR MONEY !!!!! Manager had to tell her to stop arguing with customers absolutely ridiculous!!!! But on the other of the food , it was actually pretty good ! But I would NEVER come back to this place !! Didn't give me no sauce for the tacos no napkins NOTHING just the tacos ! There plenty of other places that could treat customers a lot better!

The cook from the previous restaurant in this location pappy's is the one that owns and runs this new restaurant. So the catfish is the same as Pappy's.I had the catfish nuggets they are extremely well seasoned and had the perfect crispness to them. I was extremely impressed with the fresh cut french fries. The fries are not frozen! You could tell the potatoes were cut fresh and fried in that definitely comes through in the flavor. I can never understand why so many restaurants use a frozen french fry :-( however Rico's uses fresh cut fries! :-) so no need to be disappointed in some other restaurants said Frozen fries, just come to Rico's and enjoy in house fresh cut french fries!I was very impressed with the remodel of the restaurant, the decor was much more modern in up-to-date and the restaurant is extremely clean. It is nothing like the previous business in this location when it comes to cleanliness and decor. They have done an amazing job turning around that building in putting in a very modern well decorated in extremely clean restaurant in that space.I am anxious to go back and try some of the new Mexican food dishes on the menu. Rico's is a definite place for lunch or dinner. To be completely honest we did try the breakfast and was not impressed at all, we will not be back for breakfast. But for dinner we are 100% going to be there again! The fried catfish in the fresh cut french fries absolutely cannot be missed.They now serve chips and salsa at the table when you come in, the chips are fresh made in house, and are very good. The chips are extremely thin and crispy and you can still see the hot glistening oil because they're freshly made right before they're brought out to the table. The hot sauce is excellent! But be cautious because the two times that we've had it it was extremely spicy. :-) but then I love a very spicy hot sauce so I was in heaven! The hot sauce has great flavor!! Once I go back and try the Mexican food on the menu I'll update this review.Definitely make a point of coming and trying Rico's and supporting a new family owned restaurant in South Irving. You will not regret eating here!

Just the food take to long and it is ok place love going there every time I in joy it is so cool

The food here is great! We love the catfish, coleslaw, and okra. The shrimp is also top notch. The people are friendly, and the food is ready when I get there, when I order on line. It doesn't matter whether I am ordering for two or a bunch, it is consistently good and hot!!

Ordered Takeout. Old oil used to fry foods leaving bitter after taste on fish, hush puppies and french fries. Called the restaurant to report the issue as the $58 order is not edible. Spoke with Alvin and he said he would call back me back after speaking with Lucas re restaurant credit for order. Did not call receive a call back to coordinate. Tried to call them back, but there telephone number is no longer accepting calls.
