This little slice of Chicago is an excellent option if you're in the mood for Italian beef, polish dogs, Chicago dogs, etc. Originating in Chicago, this franchise has slowly made its way to Texas, and it's well worth the wait This location (like all the others) has an inviting interior that has all sort of car, oil, and other motor memorabilia. I've been to the original location in Chicago, and this one pays a lot of homage to that location, but in a newer and more modern way The staff was very friendly. The service was solid. We had a large group, and we waited 5-10min for all out food The food was tasty. Keep in mind, this is still fast food, but slightly elevated hot dogs and sandwiches. The fries are crinkle cut. And when wrapped up, the entrees look a bit messy, but don't let that turn you offSome tips:There is a rewards program where on your birthday you can get a slice of their delectable chocolate cake. There are plenty of fries in a large. So, consider sharing a large instead of getting multiple smalls Cheers!!

The good: very clean location, lots of seating, easy to order, food came out fresh and hot.The bad: unless you're eating hotdogs or sausage, the menu is pretty awful. We had the fish sandwich and spicy chicken sandwich and felt like we wasted our money and calories. Probably the worst fish sandwich I have ever had and the chicken sandwich had the hubby feeling like we should've gone down Broad to another fast food chicken place. The fries were plain and unseasoned. No reason to come back, since we're not hot dog/pork people, but seems to be popular and well run, so hope they do well.

With all the buzz about this place, you know I had to check it out. The mister and I decided to stop by for lunch before starting our day. The spot itself is quite spacious and impressively clean. The cashier greeted us warmly and patiently waited as we mulled over the menu.I went with the classic Italian beef and sausage sandwich with peppers, a side of fries, and cheese sauce. The mister played it safe with the #1 combo. After paying and grabbing our number, we snagged a clean table by the window. With only one other table occupied, you'd think the food would arrive quickly, right? Nope. It took about 15 minutes. At this point, I was hoping the food would live up to the hype. Spoiler: it didn't. The beef was on the dry side, and the sausage just wasn't for me. The fries, though? Solid, especially with the cheese sauce. All in all, the hype was a letdown. But hey, that's just my two cents!Food: 3/5Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5

Conveniently located just north of I-20, on S. Cooper street, on opposite side of mall area, with plenty of parking space (free). You order directly from cashier, choose your own table while waiting for the food. Ordering was easy. They called my order # in about 5 minutes. You get your own fountain drink. The sausage & beef sandwich was filled with thin-sliced tender beef & one whole sausage. The bread was soft. I loved the onion rings, pretty generous amount for a small. They had super crispy breading, giving each one the perfect crunch! A sandwich, small side, & fountain drink can be split into 2 meals, if you want to eat just enough without feeling too stuffed. The menu items are on pricier side for a sandwich/hot dog place. The place is spacious, surrounded with clear glass windows allowing the natural light in the dining room.

All my friends have been raving about Portillo's. My wife and I were in Mansfield after an early evening appointment, so we decided to stop in and give it a whirl. The dining room is massive and due to the construction, very loud and noisy. It wasn't too bad, but it was loud enough where it was difficult for us to carry on a conversation without raising our voices. You run through a line and order your food, issued a number and then pick up your food when it's ready. My wife is not a big Italian beef sandwich lover, so she decided to order a salad. I opted for the Italian Beef Sandwich, hot sweet dipped and a large order of French fries. I was really looking forward to trying the Italian beef that I had heard so much about. I was also intrigued by the burgers on the menu, they looked really good. The restaurant was medium busy and order numbers were being called out in a brisk manner. We grabbed our drinks and sat people watching while waiting for our food. I wanted to see what everything looked like. Order number all over the place were called around our number but not our number. We were both wondering if they had somehow lost or missed our order. Finally, our order number was called. We picked up our food and headed back to our table. It seemed to have taken a lot longer than expected for us to receive our food. According to the menu description, my wife's salad, the Pecan Chicken, was missing ingredients. We were going to run it back up there, but it had already taken too long as it was. My Italian beef sandwich was underwhelming, no flavor at all, it was just bland and there were very few sweet peppers on the meat. I tried to figure out what the big deal was with their sandwiches and couldn't figure what the draw was. The fries were good. From the reviews I've read, I wish now I'd had ordered a burger and chocolate cake. But maybe that'll be for another visit, if we revisit the chain again.

Planned our first visit for after lunch rush. There were signs all around with pictures of menu items. Looked delicious. But they did not have typical paper menu. We honestly did not know where to look. Asked at cash register about any gluten free items without success, so she ordered a hamburger without bun and I picked a beef sandwich picture. She asked if I wanted peppers and I said yes, thinking dressed like the picture. They were $.75 extra which did not sit well. After a 15 minute wait in the nearly empty barn like dining room, our order came and my wife's order was wrong. We immediately sent it back. After another15 minutes the replacement was received, but everything else was cold. My beef sandwich looked good but it was "greasy" and difficult to eat. Flavor good. Maybe better if warm. I commented and was offered a replacement, but we do not plan to go back.

My wife's first visit to Portillo's. She's not a big fan of Italian beef, but tried the fish sandwich and enjoyed it. I enjoy the Italian beef dipped with sweet and hot peppers. Service was friendly, helpful, and the restaurant was clean and spacious.

Service was fast and done at the counter. Restaurant was clean with tons of seating. Self serve drinks and order pick at the counter. Food was hot fresh and made to order. Well worth the drive out to the restaurant and will be there again.

The hubby took me out for dinner at Portillo, he mentioned stopping by for burger before. The place is nicely decorated, excellent service, very clean, and everything was hot and tasty. I had a cup of chicken soup and the vegetarian Hot dog, the hubby had a Cheese Burger Combo, I tried the French fries and loved them, I didn't care for the vegan hot dog, we will definitely come back with the grand kids. Thanks Portillo we lived in Elgin, Illinois and had your food in Chicago, welcome to Texas y'all
