I really wanted to love this place since it's near home but didn't. It's spacious and pleasing to the eye. The decor and the atmosphere made me feel that I was somewhere on vacation in the Caribbean.I sat at the bar with a couple of friends. We were brought chips and salsa from the barback. They were pretty good. The chips were thicker than what you would find in a typical Mexican restaurant. We ordered a cup queso along with a round of margaritas. I can't rate the entrees because other than the queso and drinks, we didn't get to order anything additionally. The service was so bad that we ended up leaving. It was a Thurs evening and not busy so not sure why. Weekends may be better.

Palapras seafood bar hadn't been open long. The night we were there, they were hanging decor on the walls. The decor is Mexican beach bar. The dining room was clean and brightly colored. The men's room was not, the toilet seat had been ripped off and was hanging over the water pipe. The food was all over the place. The appetizer really had no flavor, but they did have an after burn. My wife had the carne asada and said it was just ok. The beans were really good, filled with bacon, ham, and peppers. The rice is made with fish broth, and the fish flavor turned her off. The tacos zarandeados made with red snapper were amazing. The veggies were mainly onions, and peppers in a tomato sauce were more like a soup. That aside, they were tasty. My rice was different from my wife's and it too was made with fish broth. I mixed the rice with the veggies, and they were good. Finally, the Pina colada tasted like it was made from a powder? We will go again because the tacos were that good.

TLDR: great food, go when you are not on a schedule. Seriously. "Manana" is great when you have nowhere to be. It's tempting to think they really do not want a broader appeal and prefer to stick with regulars. Take from that what you will because the regulars were clearly getting served first even if they came in after us.The food is excellent. The staff are friendly. As near as I can tell this is a community place with a lot of regulars. The portions are generous and the quality of the food is great. We were just there Friday 8/24/2024 before an event just across the street at the theater.But. And this is a very serious "but". If you go there take into account serving time. If you are on a schedule consider *at least* two hours before the event. It took a half hour just to get water. Two water glasses were cracked? It took an hour to get all our drinks and that was after we went to the bar. Right about that hour they finally took our order. The waitress we had was pleasant but even basic requests (after an hour) she kept saying "give me just a bit more time." They were not busy at all. We got out after ninety minutes with about five minutes to spare before our show time.Considering their location which is smack in the middle of Lewisville and they were not all overworked I recommend going when you are not on a schedule. Then you will most appreciate them.

We've been going to the Dallas location of Palapas for years. We decided to try the one in Lewisville, and it was just as good. They specialize in Mexican seafood, and it is fresh and delicious. The snapper tacos and ceviche are amazing. The vibe of the place is a beach bar. Very fun and relaxing atmosphere. The manager at the bar provided excellent service and was a lot of fun to talk to. Great margaritas as well. I haven't tried the non-seafood items, but they offer the traditional cede and chicken tacos is seafood isn't your thing...but you be missing out! The fish and shrimp are the way to go

I was here on Saturday afternoon my first time coming here and the service wasn't good keep in mind it was only me and another couple in another table so no excuses the place was close to empty, after I got my food the portions are very small and pricey , and the waiter never asked if I needed anything else she would just pass by my table to go talk to another hostess and when it came down to paying I had to flag her down to give me receipt and wait about 10 min for her to bring it , the food was decent it's just the CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Food and service are really good, but a little pricey. Try the octopus and micheladas.

Tried to give this place a 2nd chance. Thursday night, arrival 705pm. 6 other patrons. Ordered by 715.... Appetizer of shrimp in sauce came out. Shrimp was half raw. Man in charge said that's how it is supposed to be, like sushi. I understand the dish, I've never had it half raw. Then, 30 minutes, then 40, I had to walk in the kitchen to ask for our one dinner we were sharing. 10 minutes later, dinner arrives . Vegetables undercooked, mahi mahi overcooked. Still no refills on drinks....Get bill and they chargers us $2.00 more on appetizer and an alcohol sales tax. Definitely not worth the time or money!

I was here on a Tuesday. In the area for the Lewisville Sounds of Music that starts at 7pm and draws in maybe 2,000 people (an ass estimate). I got here at 6pm and oddly it was a ghost town. Only 1 other couple was there. I was here once before maybe 5 months ago and loved what I had, I think it was the Coctel Cameron & Pulpa. The wife was so so on it but not unusual for our taste buds to be hemispherically opposed, she from Ecuador and me a Chicago suburbian native. This time I just had a margarita and chips and salsa. I really loved the chips and salsa. Both the chips and salsa were unique. But well worth checking out. And the basic margarita was fine. A worthy reorder. But be warned. I almost walked out. After 3 minutes, give or take an American's impatience, I almost left. But just before getting out of the saddle I was brought chips and salsa. I'm very glad their timing was kind of just right. I miss the old restaurant and their live music but I hope these guys find a new following. With low unemployment and illegals not as easy find these days, restaurants are struggling to properly staff. If you are in Lewisville or nearby I say give them a try and help them survive.

I ordered scallops in a garlic sauce with rice and steamed veggies. I got scallops and fries swimming in the garlic sauce- so soggy. The steamed veggies were beautiful, but was not cooked through. Seriously couldn't cut the cauliflower with my fork. All of this was brought to the attention of our server, who apologized. The owner came to our table and argued, with one in our party, about the doneness of her fries. The scallops were fine; the sauce was runny (I've ordered these before and it was much thicker and coated the scallops). All people in our party were charged full price, despite the food being inedible.
