Newton’s Saddlerack

Country decor is fitting for the "cowboy chef" and the menu falls right in line. The chicken fried steak was great, sorta wished my grilled veggies and mashed potatoes was separated on my plate instead of basically mashed together under the steak and gravy. My wife had the filet and the kitchen was nice enough to sub a gluten free pasta for the blue cheese gnocchi that was on the menu. The pasta was buttery and rich, very rich but my wife enjoyed it and said the steak was up there with the best steak she's ever had. Get the bourbon glazed carrot.. trust me.

We loved this place! Our server, Brooke I think, was really nice and very timely with the delivery of the food. We ordered the Mac and cheese for an appetizer and it was really good. We also ordered the snapper piccata and the fried sirloin. Holy cow everything was awesome! This will be a regular stop for us when we're in town!

We came to town to walk the shops but had to stop for some food. This restaurant was an awesome find! Western atmosphere with nice large tables. They even have blankets for when you are cold! I had the country breakfast and my husband had the burger. The home style potatoes and bacon was by far my favorite thing!

Classy service, fantastic quality with an eclectic charm you don't normally expect to find in a country college town. Just blown away with the exceptional meal I had here, would visit weekly if I didn't live out of town. Love the extroverted vs introverted dining room separation! Made for a relaxing and super evening that leaves me wanting to invite everyone I know here. Absolutely nothing missing here, you're doing it right!

First time in Stephenville and stumbled upon Newton's Saddlerack. The ambiance was great and the server was very friendly. I had the Tequila old fashioned and Jalapeño poppers to start with. Both were great and extremely flavorful. For the main course we ordered the 8 oz filet along with French bread, and "the carrot". The steak had great flavor and was cooked to perfection. The French bread had a homemade butter that was amazing! My personal favorite part of the dinner was that carrot! The Bourbon glaze was phenomenal!The meal was a bit pricey, but overall a great experience!

Went to a holiday get together here so did not order off of the menu. They had great appetizers and party food. They also make a good Old-Fashioned. Service was attentive.

We absolutely loved our first dining experience here! Exceptional service and great food! An A+ upscale adventure! We'll be back soon!

My wife and I came here for our 10 year anniversary.We tried two appetizers - the crawfish bites and shrimp cocktail - both solid choices and portion sizes.For our entrees - my wife got the steak medallions, with I believe chipotle mash potatoes, crawfish on one medallion, lump crab meat on the other, and grilled asparagus . The flavor was solid, and medallions incredible tender - enough so my wife was able to cut them with a butter knife. I ordered the lamp chops - first time ever trying lamb like this - and unfortunately the cook botched it a bit - but both Newton and his wife were very apologetic, removed it from our bill and understood exactly what the cook did incorrectly - and offered to make me anything else on the house. Had I not been already satisfied with the appetizers and sharing those incredible medallions - I'd have taken them up on their offer.For dessert, I got the crème brûlée - which was solid, and my wife got the Kahlua brownie which she really enjoyed.The food is worth coming here for, and I believe they'll make it right in the event you happen to get anything less than satisfactory.Places like this in Stephenville are a rarity, and I hope they are around for many years to come.

Excellent food, amazing service, music was a little loud but we managed. The "Specials" prices on the chalkboard are not given so buyers beware. Our bill was over $200 just for the two of us!!
