Mikkeys Retro Grill

I had came across this restaurant on Instagram a little while back when they first opened, .. due to social anxiety, I waited to allow the hype and the crowd to settle down . I had the chance to looked over the menu , and for me personally , nothing on the menu came off as far as a "I NEED TO TRY" item. I still had planned to try and see if I would be surprised. While out running errands and attending appointments, I was in need of quick togo (can eat in the car while I drive between my appointments.Located in cedar hill across from the Walmart , I want to say it's in the same suite that the Hendersons Chicken was in, but I'm not 100% sure... Parking was limit , due to surrounding businesses . I was still lucky enough to catch someone who was parked directly in front of the restaurant leaving. I walked in around lunch time , the establishment was empty. Has an old school hip hop feel to it . Menu on the wall, a couple of high bar tables for dinning In, and the coolest rap booth with handing mic prop !!! Guy who was standing behind the counter at the time of my visit (maybe manager/owner) was on laptop with another gentleman.. I received No greeting / acknowledgment, although I was definitely seen/looked at . A Really sweet girl with a puff ball ponytail came from the back to get my order. I explained to her I just wanted something quick that I could snack on while I drive , and I asked about the fries with meat . And requested what she recommended between the two that she told me about ( one with ground beef and the other with jerk chicken). Jerk chicken it was !!! She suggested cheese , but I'm lactose intolerant, I knew I would be out and about for a while , and eating while I drive between meetings/appointments, so I didn't want anything too messy.Order came out quickly , nice and hot .. and she gave their house sauce to go with the jerk chicken fries, which to me was a 2 out of 10 because I'm not a huge fan of sweets, and it reminded me of teriyaki sauce.Fries were too crunchy, and that's my own personal opinion/problem. Because The menu clearly states crispy fries. I just personally don't like crispy fries. The jerk chicken was as tasty! But if I could make a recommendation, I'd say that the jerk chicken fries would hit real hard if the chicken was shredded instead of cubed . It wasn't a bad experience at all. I looked over the menu a couple of times and nothing just says I gotta have or try it , in my opinion. I'm not likely to return , and that's just because I'm not into /familiar with the type of food that they serve . Do i recommend others to try ? Absolutely, especially if you aren't familiar with this type of food . May just be a huge hit for others .

I wish restaurants would scrap these gimmicks and just stick to making good, consistent food. The music is too loud and the young man at the counter is almost whispering. Service was TOO FAST in my opinion and I was right. I ordered the Salmon Philly,6 Mango Jerk wings and a strawberry shake.The Salmon Philly was good. Piping hot, Big chunks of Salmon, tasted fresh. The wings were warmed over, almost mushy. The fries were horrible, limp, cold, unseasoned. The milkshake was decent.

I was looking forward to trying this spot after all the hype on IG. I drove up there yesterday and couldn't find the spot, so I called three times with no answer. I finally found the restaurant; if it were a snake, I would have been dead!I see a lady coming out and locking the door with a massive lock. I'm like, is it closed for good? I got out to see if there were any signs, which said 'closed for unleavened bread.' Needless to say, I was very disappointed and had to find another spot for lunch for me and my friend. It would have been nice if this had been on the IG page or if the phone had been answered, so I could have saved time and gas instead of driving up there.I will go back if and when in the area.

Management is very cool and the cook was very helpful. These had the Cajun seasoning on there and I loved it. I was be back for sure. It's hard to find a good Cajun seasoning for wings. It was on my wings and fries so I was hype.

I'm showing grace because the restaurant has only been open three days, but I have to keep it real. Sigh...The young lady who took our order was very timid and we had a difficult time hearing her over the music. Speaking of, they play uncensored hip hop which is cool for adults, not so much for small kids...who would frequent such an establishment. I thought this was odd. It took about an hour for our food, and there were no mistakes with what we ordered.The wings were hard and chewy. We could not eat them. The fries were good, and the burgers were ok. This place most certainly did not live up to the insta-hype. I'm suspecting that the blogger I follow was paid because ain't no way this is "one of the best burgers in DFW."Be warned, this is not an eat-in restaurant. There is a counter against the window, but not where you would want to dine with the crowd.Perhaps they are just understaffed and overworked due to the blogger's recommendation.

We tried the Mikkey Hamburger and Mikkey Cheeseburger. The meat was seasoned well. These are simplistic burgers so nothing fancy about them. Overall they were decent. I do disagree with the burgers not automatically coming with fries for the price. The fries on the other hand were not. They tasted old and overcooked. Also they didn't even make it out the door before they were cold. I was excited because they appear to be hand cut but they didn't taste like it. We also had an Oreo shake which was good. I think with a few improvements to the fries, the rating could be better. The service was efficient and the food did come out within reason.

This was me and my husband first time there yesterday night. We were so impressed the way the setup is. Very impressed with the boom box and microphone. The music was awesome brings me back down memory lane. The food was so good. The wings and burgers are FIRE... The gyro and salmon sandwich and the fries was FIRE!!! This is a place I'll be back. It was so good and the lady at the register was so sweet and informative. I will be tipping this company everytime. Oh yea they have the best menu display then any restaurant I have ever been to. The burger was very good and the buttered/grilled buns completed it. The hot butter lemon pepper wings on the other hand did not have enough sauce or lemon pepper. My order came out pretty fast. The cashier and cook that brought out my food were both great and had smiling faces. Even though the restroom was out of order the place had good music and would recommend others to try it out.

Food was great. Had the Mikkeys burger. Fries are delish, salty and a little sweet. Great, friendly service. Have a few barstools at window bar, no tables.

Burger was suppose to have cheese and bacon it has neither. That environment was good but food is poor won't be returning again.
