Mike Anderson's BBQ is one of the family's go to place to bring out of towner friends and family! The brisket is particularly impressive, with a perfectly smoky flavor and a tender, juicy texture that pulls apart effortlessly. The sausage is flavorful, with a nice snap, and pairs well with their house-made barbecue sauces, which offer a good balance of tang and sweetness. They offer a lot of delectable sides but the cornbread loaded with cheese as a side is a must try!

Mike Andersen's BBQ House offers a quintessential Texas barbecue experience. The ambiance immediately transports you to a classic Texas setting, with rustic graphics and decor. The setup here is a straight-forward cafeteria-style, where you tell your server what kind of meat and sides you want, and slide your tray to the end where you pay.One cool feature is their self-serve area where you can load up on slaw, onions, and pickles to add to your meal for free. They recently updated their rewards system, but unfortunately, old points from years ago don't transfer over, which may be disappointing for longtime customers like my aunt. The free soft-serve vanilla ice cream and cake cones offered at the end of the meal was a sweet gesture to encourage another visit. The BBQ plate was decent and met my southern food expectations in terms of flavor (smokey BBQ, buttery cheesy grits, and briny sides), the ambiance was very "Texas", and the self-service options for sides were convenient. The price seemed a little high for $18 a plate if I may say so myself for southern BBQ eats. I will say it kept me full all day so that is a plus. The hours are also strange opening at 10am and closing at 2:30pm Monday through Saturday.I most likely will not be back in the UT Southwestern area again as this a one-off visit, but you are more than welcome to give this place a try if you are around and are craving BBQ!

This was a local hotel worker's suggestion. When you walk in it looks like the place is full of memorabilia and cool things to look at. When ordering your food you can see mostly everything in front of you like an assembly line. The food was ok. Not as satisfying as I would've liked for Texas BBQ. The brisket was tender and the chicken was moist and once the bbq sauce and pickles were added it made the sandwiches good. The peach cobbler was not made with enough love and the devilish eggs I did not get a chance to taste because I didn't realize until afterwards that it had meat inside, possibly pork. Overall it's not bad but also not the greatest. The price was also decent we spent about $30.

I've eaten here years ago, I won't say how long ago or I would date myself, LOL!! Anywho, I will say that's probably why I never came back, was because it wasn't memorable.I had a work lunch and the majority of the team wanted to eat here, so I had to suck it up and eat here again. Listen, it's definitely not the worse bbq, but it's not the best either. The brisket was a bit dry and the sausage link I had was good. The service was also good. Listen, I believe if you work in the Parkland hospital area, then this is your place to eat lunch because I saw a lot of Parkland employess here yesterday.

Thought we would stop for a quick lunch before our time at the range. Save yourself some time and energy and grab bbq from somewhere else. This is not the place. We both got the 3 meat plate. Brisket, ribs, sausage and 2 sides. I had okra and the dill potato salad. The wife had bbq beans and mustard potato salad that she added some relish too.The Brisket No flavor at all. You can tell it had been sitting as it had oxidized and stiffened up.The Sausage Although the Sausage had a nice snap, again no flavor. The RibsWhen I say over smoked and tasted like creosote, plus they don't pull the membrane. I'm sorry, not the best bbq eating experience. The AmbianceBooth and table seating. Situated in the hospital district, I would say they are banking on hungry tired workers who just want something to eat to make it through. The ServiceIt's cafeteria / buffet style. Grab your lunch tray, Mike cuts your meat the sends you on the way to get your sides. No real interactions with customers even after telling them it was our first time.Overall, not a good eating experience. Best thing I had on my plate was the okra. The best interaction was seeing a friend and sister in the faith we had not seen. Clearly we're we're sent here to see her come in.

The ambiance and service at this cafeteria style Texas Barbecue are quintessential Texas. Down home good folks serving up heaping helpings of pretty decent food. And while they are decent, they are not great, especially when compared in what has become a pretty crowded and competitive fiend of barbecue restaurants. Like many others, they are also a bit pricey. My Brisket sandwich and 2 sides set me back a little over $18 before taxes. The dinner plates run up into the low to mid 20's per plate. The sides I chose were fried okra, which was pretty good and Southern Mustard Tater Salad which was ok. The star here to me though was what they call "Granny's Peach Cobbler"...it was everything it's name sets the stage for and more! This place is not the greatest barbecue restaurant around but it IS a must try for anyone wanted quintessential Texas Barbecue!

Good BBQ and sides, awesome setup of self serve sides. I tried some Brisket, Turkey and Jalapeño sausage. The brisket was good, not robust with flavor and smoke, but it was tender and tasty for those who like a little less smoke and salt. The turkey was pretty good and you can't mess up jalapeño cheddar sausage. I really liked Mike's jalapeño sauce, just the right amount of heat. Mike himself is very friendly and gives great customer service. I would definitely recommend stopping in for a great lunch!

Excellent BBQ! We've never had a bad meal at Mike Anderson's, or left hungry. I think we've tried all of their meats at one time or another and have been more than pleased. My wife is a big fan of the dill potato salad. Don't miss the soft serve ice cream!
