My boyfriend and I stopped by on a chilly day, craving some Tex-Mex comfort food, and this spot hit the mark. They serve Americanized Mexican dishes with a touch of family tradition. My boyfriend had the bean soup (charro beans) which was hearty and flavorful, while I ordered the combo fajitas with chicken and flank steak. The fajitas were tender, well-seasoned, and came in a generous portion--perfect for sharing. The service was fast, friendly, and made the experience even better. The warm atmosphere made it a cozy escape from the cold.

Visiting my Daughter in Plano, TX a few weeks age, we went back to Mena's Tex-Mex Grill Cantina in Carrollton, TX to see if their food was still a '5-Stars Experience'. It was better!From the moment we arrived, the Owner treated us like we were 'long lost relatives ~ The Good Ones! He remembered me from my last visit (and no it wasn't because I had jumped up on the piano & did the Macarena!).We were immediately seated (at the same table as my previous visit), and the waitress was the same one I had my last time too. After a bit of 'schmoozing' - talking for the uninitiated - we ordered drinks.As she was leaving, we were served Mena's fresh, hot tortillas chips and individual bowls of homemade salsa. DELICIOUS! A moment later the waitress returned with our Margaritas ~ also DELICIOUS!After a bit, we ordered dinner.Soon our meals arrived and were placed in front of us... I ordered the Brisket Chili Relleno and she ordered the Chicken Taco Salad. We both marveled at the aroma, presentation and size of the portions. Then we ate! OMG! Absolutely Amazing! The food was a gastronomical delight! Neither of us could finish our meals, but that only meant another delicious meal the following night. If you want to try really how exceptional Tex-Mex Food is supposed to taste, you can't go wrong heading to Mena's Tex-Mex Grill Cantina.

Decent neighborhood tex-mex restaurant! We ordered chicken fajitas and the healthy plate. The chicken was perfectly cooked to be tender and juicy and had good flavor. The portions were perfect and the service was great and prompt despite coming here an hour before closing. Their salsas are tasty and they give you separate salsas per person which I liked. They also have chunk green salsa as well if you ask! We also ordered small guacamole which was sub par and they can work on the presentation. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here but it's a solid choice for your local tex Mex dining.

My daughter was in the mood for Tex Mex and I wanted to try a new place in our neighborhood and Mena's came up in my search as a good option. We went for lunch and it wasn't too busy so we were able to be sat right away. The menu had TONS of options, which was great, and we decided to start with their table side guacamole. Perhaps it is made table side during dinner, but during lunch it was not so we weren't able to customize it like I'm used to as the person is making it, but it came out in what seemed to be an authentic molcajete and it was delicious.I decided to try something I haven't seen served at other Tex Mex restaurants, the Texas burrito without cheese, and my daughter ordered the Chipotle Brisket Tacos. We were disappointed when the tacos arrived and they had cheese on them. As someone who isn't a fan of melted cheese on everything, I am always very careful to read the menu and see if cheese is included so I can ask for the entree without it. Cheese was not noted as being on the brisket tacos so we tried to scrap it off but, when we were unsuccessful, we had to order new ones. I'll admit, a pet peeve of mine is when all the ingredients aren't included on the menu, but kudos to the manager for coming over right away to ensure we got what we needed and they fixed the order promptly and gave my daughter more rice and beans which she thoroughly enjoyed...lol. This is a nice sized restaurant with various seating locations so I imagine it would have to get pretty busy for there to be a wait. I've read in other reviews that the margaritas are tasty so I'll look forward to trying those during my next visit - most likely with my husband. Overall, I had a great first visit and will definitely be back.

We come here all the time normally sits at the bar. This time we sat at a booth. Normally their are a 5, but this not it's. 3.5. I should have stuck with my Salmon Salas(THE BEST) the tacos and salad were very good. I wasn't they hungry so I tried the Flautitas de Pollo and the were a little on the dry side. The bar tender was not our normal guy, so our drinks were not the best this go round. We will be back, maybe they just had an off night

Seemed like a nice place until the food was brought out. All plates were under cooked and seasoned. Maybe good food for non Texans if the entrees were hot and fresh. Definitely wouldn't recommend, Taco Bell is right down the road and does much better.
