Randomly was driving up 75 in the passenger seat for once and happened to notice this place and decided to check it out. It's a locally owned place with plenty of seating. We were sat quickly and the waitstaff took our drink orders. While reviewing the menu the owner personally greeted us and we had a chance to chat with him about the place which was really nice. For app we had the mozzarella fritti and fried calamari. Both were fried perfectly and had great taste. The cheese pull was slightly disappointing but not worth anything to cry about. For entrees I had the chicken carbonara and my partner had the lasagna. I love the carbonara as it hit all the right notes of salty but not too much and the right level of creaminess. My partner loved the lasagna and said he wants to go back. We didn't get to dessert but the owner did mention they are made fresh. Overall, I will be going back again and hope others find this spot as well to help support a local Plano business.

Have visited this gem several times. Beautiful deco & striking atmosphere. Aboutiful wine selection as well as an extraordinarily varied menu. This wonderful place has turned into our "celebration" place.Any time we need to celebrate, here we come...From sphagetti and meatballs to ribeye steak, we have tried just about everything. Trust us, you cannot go wrong! Enjoy the food, the ambiance and of course, the service!

I went to Mangia Bistro in Plano at 11:25 am on a Friday and the restaurant was deserted; no other customers and no server. The only person around was the cook in the kitchen. As I waited I noticed immediately that the Italian music being broadcast through the ceiling speakers was at an ear-splitting volume. Finally the server appeared and told me to sit anywhere. After I chose a table as far from an overhead speaker as possible, the server took my drink order while I waited for my friend to arrive. I had to nearly scream to talk with the server and asked her to please lower the music volume so that my friend and I could have a normal conversation. However, the music remained at the same uncomfortably loud level. When my friend arrived several minutes later I suggested we go elsewhere due to the noise level, and she immediately agreed. The server was nowhere in sight, so I informed the cook why we were leaving. He just shrugged his shoulders. As we headed across the parking lot to the restaurant next door, the server raced out the back door of Mangia Bistro and chased us across the parking lot. We stopped to hear what she had to say. She told us that she had trouble finding the volume control for the music and said something about not having the keys. I acknowledged her comment and told her we were done with Mangia Bistro and were going to go elsewhere.I wish I could have had an opportunity to try the food. But I concluded that the dining room at Mangia Bistro was empty for a reason. I won't be giving them a second chance. BTW - the restaurant next door was packed with customers and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there.

What a great find! Our server, Angelica, was so nice and attentive and the food was outstanding! We had the tartufo, Caesar salad, and risotto and were very impressed not just with the food but also the prices. The fresh bread is made in house and was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. They serve it with a garlic olive oil dipping sauce that's perfect! We will definitely be back!

By happenstance, my wife and I decided to try Mangia Bistro (MB) this past week, after my wife said she wanted "Italian" and I just happened upon a line from a review for MB that read in part, " the best Italian food I've ever had." Well, since I've actually eaten Italian food in Italy, I cannot say i that the food at MB was the "best" Italian food I've eaten, but it was very VERY good!I suppose we had never eaten at MB before because the restaurant's exterior is quite unassuming, and the restaurant's location is not something that evokes thoughts of great places to eat nearby. But, I am glad we gave it a try.Since we had not eaten at MB before, I decided we would splurge a bit and order an appetizer AND a dessert AND, a pizza from which we could split a slice and reserve the remainder for take home. As an appetizer, we ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms and for dessert, we had the Tiramisu. The Stuffed Mushrooms were tasty and were warm, not hot. The breading was interesting, sort of like a cornbread but, not really, with bits of cranberries. So savory with a hint of sweet. They were good and would have been great, had they been piping hot. But, I understand why they might allow them to cool a little before serving, since mushrooms tend to squirt scalding hot water immediately after being cooked, removed from a fryer. The homemade Tiramisu was sliced in pie shape, rather than the typical square that appears cut from a frozen, boxed ready-made option. The Tiramisu was obviously homemade and was delicious!! It was garnished with whipped cream and strawberries, and was drizzled with caramel, which was unique, but also delicious! We ordered the Margherita Pizza and though I am not a big fan of Sun-dried Tomatoes the pizza was also delicious! As our entrees, my wife had the Spaghetti Carbonara, I had the Lasagna. Both were very VERY tasty! The portion sizes were more than ample, given the amount of food we ordered. I generally order Lasagna when eating Italian and I usually ask for the cheese on top to be browned well. For some strange reason, I rarely receive what I hope to; as if the person doing the "browning" of my cheese is afraid of overdoing it. Hmmm... not possible! In this case, my Lasagna was perfectly done! The interior of MB was very clean and bright; decorated mostly in Honey Oak colored wood and Limestone. Our Server, Austin, was friendly and attentive. We only had water and iced tea for drinks and they were good, with nothing off putting to report. We will definitely be eating at MB again, and if you're looking for great Italian food, then you won't be disappointed if you too give Mangia Bistro a try!!Eat well. Be well. Cheers!

Not really Italian food as much as it's an attempt to blend Mexican and Italian cuisines. The ceviche was overloaded with guacamole and then weirdly drizzled with balsamic glaze. Not a great combo. We couldn't finish it. In fact we couldn't finish all of our food. Service staff tries but everything else just falls flat.
