Jaw-Dropping Jamaican Flavors from a Food TruckSee full review here: https://maggeatsworld.substack.com/p/lynn-rich-jamaican-cuisine Lynn Rich Jamaican Cuisine is an Oak Cliff gem and the best Jamaican food I've had in Dallas so far. The small, rotating menu offers just a few options, but Chef Rich delivers big on flavor. This food truck is tucked away in a quiet area, so I recommend following him on Instagram for updates and rotating menu options. The wait was longer than usual since it was a one-man show, but the food was worth every minute. Chef Rich carefully plated each dish, even in to-go containers, showing his pride in the craft. His commitment to quality was clear--nothing was rushed, and every plate was intentional. What I Ate:Oxtail Plate w/ Gravy, Rice & Peas, Cabbage, and Fried PlantainsSimply put--phenomenal. As someone who spent years in Miami indulging in Caribbean food, this was top-tier. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the rich, savory gravy had me hooked.Rice & Peas - Moist, flavorful, and perfect with the gravy.Cabbage - Still had a nice crunch, mixed with other veggies.Fried Plantains - Sweet, caramelized, and the perfect bite.Final Thoughts:Lynn Rich doesn't miss. Every bite was crafted with care, and this meal made my week. I'll be back for the jerk chicken next time! If you're craving authentic Jamaican food, don't walk--run.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem of a Jamaican restaurant while driving through Dallas, prompted by my wife's quick Google search for Jamaican cuisine. With a plethora of enticing reviews and mouthwatering user photos, we were eager to check it out, especially since it was conveniently located near I35E.However, the journey to find the place proved to be a bit of an adventure. My GPS app, Waze, directed me to the wrong address, leaving me confused at around 1800 W Commerce St. Frustrated yet determined, I reached out to Chef Rich, who kindly provided me the correct address at 444 W Commerce St. Switching to Google Maps got me closer, but I still found myself about half a mile off course. When we finally arrived, it was around 6 pm, and darkness had already settled in. The real challenge arose as Chef Rich was cooking from inside a nearby apartment instead of the expected food truck. Without any signage to guide us, I felt lost, but thankfully, fellow customers were on hand to help steer us in the right direction. Ultimately, it was my wife who called Chef Rich directly, and he graciously sent someone out to assist us in finding him.Upon entering the intimate kitchen space, I was immediately struck by the warm ambiance, reminiscent of stepping into the "back of the house" in a restaurant. The tantalizing scents of spices filled the air as Chef Rich worked diligently to prepare his meals. Though there were a couple of customers ahead of me, he was wrapping up their orders and my own wait was a mere ten minutes.Chef Rich operates without a set menu, encouraging diners to inquire about available dishes. I decided to indulge in two enticing entrees: oxtails and curry goat. Unfortunately, the last of the rice had just been served to the two customers before me. Chef Rich attempted to whip up another batch, but it was late in his workday, leaving me with alternatives of plantain bread, fried plantains, and veggies. He assured me that the plantain bread was an exclusive offering, a culinary treasure worth trying. From the moment I interacted with Chef Rich, his customer service stood out; he was approachable and attentive, making everyone feel welcomed. When I finally tasted the curry goat, I was delighted by its tender texture and rich flavors. Unlike a heavy Indian curry, this version was light yet satisfying. My side of veggies, unfortunately, didn't fare well on the journey home and became soggy. I found the plantain bread somewhat disappointing; I wished it had a sweeter flavor, which I associate with fried plantains back home. Some fried plantains were sweet, while others were not, adding to the inconsistency. The oxtails were equally impressive, tender and plentiful, complemented by a flavorful gravy that was divine. Chef Rich mentioned he does not use browning, a burnt sugar seasoning commonly found in oxtail preparations, which contributed to its unique taste. However, like with the curry goat, the gravy would have paired better with rice than the soggy veggies. As a delightful surprise, Chef Rich offered a sample of his jerk chicken, paired with freshly made pineapple ginger juice that was extraordinary. It boasted a beautiful blend of pineapple and ginger without any added sugars, making it a refreshing and flavorful drink. The jerk chicken was another highlight; its unique sauce offered a delightful kick, different from traditional jerk flavors, yet still reminiscent of the spice I adore. The chicken was succulent and cooked to perfection. I wholeheartedly recommend trying the jerk chicken. To finish off my culinary journey, I treated myself to a slice of moist and flavorful carrot cake that was nothing short of delicious. The icing was sweet with a smooth texture, making it a perfect end to my meal.Although my experience with the sides was hindered by their less-than-ideal condition, the flavors of the meats were outstanding. I look forward to returning to Chef Rich's kitchen, particularly hoping to experience his rice next time, as it received high praises from another customer, despite the busy night. All things considered, Chef Rich's exceptional customer service and culinary skills made this adventure a memorable one.

Mannn! It's hard finding authentic Caribbean food but this right here takes the cake! Fresh , full of flavor, alittle bit of a wait but chile , it's worth it! Great seating for when the weather breaks. Just wish the cook had more staff to help the flow of orders but however , the food is BOMB! Definitely will be spinning back for the jerk chicken and oxtails!

Unfortunately, got there late and missed out on the goat curry. He only had 2 oxtail and one snapper left. I had 1 oxtail and the snapper. I enjoyed every bite! The owner is very nice and took care of us. It was pretty dead when I showed up, but I'm certain that it was only because he had pretty much sold out on everything. I see it being chill energy when he is packed with people.

Have not visited his Dallas establishment as I live in California. A little unhappy you all got him out there. What got me the most about his cooking is his care and concern with cleanliness. Love his food, love the man. Keep going Sir, you got this!
