The Lounge Here has an upscale 70s feel to it without being pretentious. It has been an East Dallas staple for several years now and we're making a point to consciously and intentionally frequent restaurants in our immediate area to keep the character of our neighborhood alive. We grabbed a couple of appetizers and settled in with some drinks, a steamy, boozy chai drink for me and as always for my husband a whiskey, neat. He had the same for round two but I decided to try something different, their cocktails have quirky names and mine was a Pear-odactyl. A martini style cocktail with pear liqueur, lime and I don't recall the other ingredients but it was delicious and I highly recommend it.We can't wait to come back and try their actual entrees but whether you live in the area or have to make the drive across town Lounge Here is definitely worth the visit, I promise you'll love it.

The good: atmosphere was swanky (and honestly surprising), the food was great--we loved the fries and the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce, and the service wasn't bad.The bad: the parking is very limited and honestly annoying. There aren't many spots and most specifically call out other places to park....if we come again, we will likely uber. Second frustration--we came on a weeknight around 5:45 with 7-8 open booths and requested one. I didn't think I needed to make a reservation, since it was a random week night and nothing special going on. The hostess said that they were all reserved....I mentioned it was our first visit there and if really all of the books were guaranteed for those guests. She paused and said she wasn't sure if many some won't show up...this was honestly ridiculous. I've literally been a hostess and with that many booths -- you can accommodate at least a few walk in parties that are there and save a few for reservations that prefer booths. The most annoying thing is that there were consistently 3 or more booths open the entire time we were there. My guest and I were quite annoyed. Not a good policy. The ugly: parking once again...I feel like some of the further away parking as sketchy and ran the risk of it being towed. I would recommend they consider valet or adding specific spots for Lounge Here

Lounge Here is a unique restaurant in East Dallas. It's one of our favorites because of the retro, groovy vibe, excellent food and even better cocktails. @theloungehere They take their cocktails seriously, but are always welcoming and fun. They change their cocktail menu each season and just turned it over for the holidays so we had to check it out. I had 2 different whiskey cocktails and both were delicious. Bananarchy are the first two photos and Goldlewis are last two. The Goldlewis was a nice balance of booze, citrus and sweetness. It reminds me of a refined, cold version of a Hot Toddy. I love the thin apple slice garnish. Nice touch!!Cynar is an Italian Amaro made from artichokes. Yeah, I know it sounds unappealing but it works as a bitter apertif. It's a smart addition because the bitterness cuts the citrus really well and gives it a nice balance. I'm not sure why but it works. They know what they're doing!!!Bananarchy is right up my alley. They had me at banana. To me, whiskey, banana, chocolate and black walnut is like peanut butter and jelly. They just belong together. It's not a sweet cocktail but has all the comforts of the holidays wrapped up in a tight little snack. The dried banana slice garnish is a nice touch. It's nicely balanced and is a holiday winner. I'd go to Lounge Here just for that cocktail. You should always consider Lounge Here because of their great service, food and cocktails. It's one of the coolest spaces in Dallas. Go check them out this holiday season and enjoy the new seasonal menu. This lounge style bar and eatery is unexpectedly cozy. Love the retro decor and creative menu, the Mac and cheese was rich and flavorful with homemade cheese sauce. Service is quick in this intimate joint.

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, the food didn't impress. We had the Steak Fritte, and while the fries were fine, the steak was way too chewy because of all the fat. The Chicken Fried Ribeye had too many elements on the plate that didn't seem to work together. We started with the Pimento Cheese appetizer and asked for it without ham, but it arrived with ham anyway. They quickly corrected the mistake, which was appreciated, but it didn't save the meal. The atmosphere, however, was the best part of the experience. The vibe was great, and the space had a nice, welcoming feel. Sadly, the food didn't live up to the setting.

Parking was a nightmare, but once inside, the lounge had a charming vintage vibe that I liked. We were promptly greeted and seated upon arrival. Our waitress was attentive and offered excellent recommendations. I tried the Start A Riot mocktail, which was fantastic. However, the Here Burger was a letdown. The beef patty was dry and lacked flavor, and there wasn't enough house ranch, leaving the burger dry overall. It was a decent experience but I don't foresee myself coming back.
