Definitely more elevated option. Got a very late reservation for dinner on a weekend. Would recommend coming a little earlier to check if your table is ready especially if it's a later reservation. They have some specials on the chalkboard. Tried some oysters which were $2 each. They were fine.Specialty rolls are at least $15. The smaller rolls under $10. I wish they had a hand roll option.Got a yellow tail (small) roll, Kayio roll (this one has butter and they come scorch it in front of you.), hamachi star (yellow tail, cold app), one of the salmon ones. The cold apps are good! Everything was good.. Everything came out quick too.I don't know if any of the specialty rolls caught my eye though. So I don't know if I would come back just because there isn't any more on the menu I want to try.The happy hour does look good - someone else posted the menu.

I would consider this the younger cooler baby sister to Shoyo. No pretense or stuffiness. 2000s rap in the background. Very small intimate comfortable and vibey setting with a great friendly and knowledgeable staff. Sat at the sushi bar. Will was behind the counter and turned out the most gorgeous plates of nigiri and sashimi. Explaining every flavor profile and how it paired well with the fish. We had soy sauce but never used it. The fish was premier quality with great fresh flavor. A little pricey for casual lunch but well deserved and worth it.Nigiri Flight 10/10 - left to right each piece was better than next; grilled pork belly 21/10 - SO GOOD melt in your mouth tender and fatty and the mustard sauce smear was the perfect accompaniment (I ordered twice); salmon nigiri w/ gochuchang 10/10 - not spicy at all very mild spice with a hint of sweetness didn't over power the buttery tender salmon; toro w/caviar 17/10 - SOOOOOO GOOOD so fresh fatty nice bite to it...get the toro! This will be my go to spot for the summer. It had all the vibes and the flavors. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience! *heart fingers*

It's very rare for me to review a place after just one visit. But i'm here to declare that Kaiyo is my new sushi spot! I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and say at the sushi bar. The chef was welcoming and friendly. My waiter came by right away and offered to go over the menu but I already knew what I wanted. The service was fast and food was delicious. I've never had such a flavorful miso soup. the sushi was high quality. The atmosphere is cool and vibey. They played r&b, the decor is nice, the restaurant is cozy. I wouldn't recommend for huge groups. I thoroughly enjoyed Kaiyo and can't wait to go back to try other rolls.

All around 5 ! Great speedy and attentive service from the time we stepped foot inside of the space. Very intimate space small but effective. I had so many items from the menu I can't even recount, but not one was a miss. I've been pacing myself not to return too many times, but I feel like I can't stop until I've had everything on the menu at least twice. I'll definitely be back, plus visiting Greenville Ave is always a treat. Thanks for a wonderful experience!!

Kaiyo is a nice casual sushi eatery added to the lower Greenville lineup. It's priced a step above your usual neighborhood sushi spot, better quality fish and more cold and warm plates for non-sushi eaters.I came by for happy hour and ordered my own nigiri plate. I normally don't dip expensive nigiri in soy sauce, but yeah I think these are meant to be dipped, they're not really "dressed". I thought this was a casual "omakase" quality sushi spot for the price, but I don't believe that anymore. My drink was wayyy too syrupy, but the sushi chef service was good. Waiter was a little slow. Chef gave us a farewell piece each of their special gochujang aburi salmon, that was nice but nothing wow lolWould come back only on happy hour, otherwise I think it's priced higher than it should be.

Five stars for the happy hour which runs from 5-6:30p (though the chalkboard sign outside says 6; their menu says 6:30). The nigiri shows up on the HH menu, but there's really no savings on those, but you can get the sushi/sashimi platters at a pretty good discount as well as well-priced light bites - my partner single-handedly demolished the wings. We also really enjoyed the rolls. They are offering new lunch specials on the weekend. I snapped a photo of the menus to share because the info isn't available on their website, but definitely recommend stopping by to check them out.

Outstanding sushi on Lower Greenville that's not the amazing omakase at Shoyo! If you are lucky enough to snag a reservation on resy, DO IT! The ambiance is perfect for a date night, bro night, ladies night, or frankly any night! Beautifully appointed with nice decor and lighting, Kaiyo almost reminded me of a speakeasy. The food is outstanding but the sushi pizza is a winner here! Super thin slices of the red fish with a crisp of veggies and a crispy airy tortilla underneath.I've been to Shoyo and I can honestly say the quality of their daily specials is on point with what is served at Shoyo. Still dreaming about the salmon special I had with caviar and blue cheese!!The cocktails are also delicious and we enjoyed a couple of those as well!Highly recommend checking this spot out.

I cannot recommend Kaiyo enough! I'm so glad this restaurant was recommended by a friend who knew we'd be in Dallas. The sushi is incredibly fresh, the flavors are full of umami and are so memorable, and the service is so kind. We had the spritz, the wings, the shrimp tempura udon, the firecracker roll, two sushi players, the clams and the chicken katsu and we loved every dish! They have happy hour from 5-6:30pm and some specials depending on the day of the week. We'd be regulars here if we lived in Dallas :)

Least favorite sushi spot I have tried so far around DFW. Came here for a birthday dinner and was really excited due to all the great reviews but left disappointed. Service was really great, ambiance was also great but the sushi itself was trying hard to be great but did not hit the mark. Everything was either too salty or the sauces were too overpowering that the natural flavor and freshness of the fish was not the highlight of the dish.
