Someday, we'll brave the early line at Hurtado (Arlington's reigning BBQ king), but today, errands got in the way, so we ended up here instead. Hubbs is new to DFW, and when I visit to break out of the Irving bubble, we're on a mission to sample local BBQ. My bookmarked list of BBQ joints is endless and growing weekly. Will I get to them all? Probably not. But a gal can dream, right? Now, let's talk food! Calvin at the counter was a gem--super friendly, full of recommendations, and happy to add a couple of slices of fresh white bread so I could make my DIY BBQ sandwich. We went with a 3-meat plate: sliced brisket, pulled pork, and ribs (had to pay an upcharge, but worth it!). I almost went for the bologna, but Hubbs was not on board. And the sides? They stole the show! Crunchy fried okra and some of the creamiest corn around. WOOT!The ribs ended up being my favorite (and I'm usually a brisket gal!). Took a banana pudding to go, but... I'd skip it next time. All in, about $30, which felt like a solid deal. The only downside? The floors. They're like an ice rink in there. The whole place--from the dining area to the ladies' room--had this slick, slippery vibe. I don't even want to guess why, but let's just say this place is not for the elderly or toddlers on a sugar high.

Our first time at Jambo's had to include the MASSIVE Sadie. It is such a great deal for $14. On the other hand, it did lack flavor. The brisket on the potato was tender, but there was no smoke flavor. The sides were just alright. The mac and cheese was pretty bland, but the corn had a good bit of sweet and salty goodness. My coleslaw was surprisingly better than expected. The team was extremely nice and hospitable.

Hey everyone. Happiest of holiday seasons. Out scouting a whip with my brother, I got a case of Appetitis. Saw Jambos on Yelp, hit a few corners from the car dealers, and we're in Jambos.Ordered a sausage sammie. Was jambo packed. Lots of peppery smoked sausage. The bread. Wow. I'm a bread fanatic. This was grilled, soft, but had a buttery crust. Added a huge side of fried okra. Golden crunchy breading, soft green okra inside. This was a five-star, but touches like some paper to line the food tray is needed. Hook that up. Also, the meats need to be flash heated before serving. Was a bit luke warm, not hot enough temperature wise. Love the smokehouse feel of the joint. Could be 5 star if the finish dotting the ts. Will definitely be back to this spot for more. Just the smell of real wood smoke when you enter is enough to bring me back.Peace y'all. Have yourself a Jambos little Christmas.

My first time going. Decided on this baked potato item my good girlfriend was raving about. Instead of sausage I requested the burnt ends for my big back. BAY-BEE 1st of all this potato is as big as my upper arm and I got triple barrel shotguns. 2. Who told y'all to shread the whole delicious moist tasy beef brisket on my potato onto of the butter, shredded cheese and sour cream? AND THEN you add delicious homemade beans and th we burnt ends? Who raised you to mix such deliciousness and cook to perfect harmony. But wait. .... the Jambos barbecue sauce tops it off and I had to mix 3 of them because they were all delicious.

Today we were in Arlington for an event and heard about a new BBQ restaurant nearby. Arlington has a great range of restaurants, and most have been very good so we were excited to try Jambo's BBQ. The menu was extensive and looked good. The place is nothing fancy, and that's usually a good sign of a good BBQ place, my mouth watered. Today they had a half chicken with two sides for $13.00. Studying the menu we wanted to try something different, and a lady sitting in the waiting area for her to-go order started talking about childhood and bologna sandwiches. Memories of grandma came flooding back, and the BBQ Bologna Sandwich won the battle of trying to pick just the right item for lunch. I ordered the Bologna Sandwich and a side of potato salad...and then we waited. What arrived was a thick slice of bologna in a hamburger bun, and a scoop of potato salad. No sides, but I heard a man order pickles, so I went back to the counter and ordered pickles and onion. There were three choices for BBQ sauce - regular, sweet and spicy. Tobasco, ketchup, salt and pepper were also available. The bologna on my sandwich did not appear to have been browned at all. There was no evidence except a small amount of charring just along the edge that indicated that this piece of meat had ever met anything beyond the refrigerator. The temperature was medium at best. The bun was not toasted or even warm. The potato salad was the saving grace, so my lunch consisted of eating that with pickles and onions. I kept trying to eat my sandwich, but there was no flavor and no reason beyond total starvation to even consider it. The texture was less than appealing in my mouth as I tried to swallow and grabbed the water and more pickles. I honestly thought I couldn't eat another bite, and didn't. Tonight I sit here writing this and my stomach is telling me about what I tried to eat for lunch today. We saw a half chicken special come out of the kitchen as we were leaving and it didn't appear to be fully cooked either in a passing glance. My lunch partner also tossed his sandwich and ate only potato salad and okra. He said the okra was ok but most of it went into the garbage too and I didn't have the strength to ask to try it. Hopefully this place will find their BBQ grill and manage to cook what they are serving. I just couldn't do it and won't do it again.

This was my first time and I enjoyed it! I got the 2 meat plate, ribs and brisket with beans and coleslaw. Ribs: AWESOME! There were 3 pieces and they were nice proportions. The flavor was good and the meat was tender! 9/10Brisket: Tender, good flavor but I noticed that there was not much bark/ring. 8.5/10Coleslaw: AWESOME! It's probably one of the best slaws I've had! 10/10Beans: Ranch style flavor, relates to Van Camps, not above or beyond but ok. 6.5/10Spicy Bar B Que sauce: Great! 8/10 Burnt Ends: Amazing! I'm from Beaumont, Texas, and this reminds me of a country breakfast. They use Steens syrup in the yellow can and it really brought the flavor out!! 910 (now this is my perception but everyone has a different taste bud, but I loved it. Overall, a great eating spot! 8/10, will be going back. Recommend!

My wife and I ordered a two-meat combo of brisket and ribs with peach cobbler and ice cream. The meat was cooked well, but it was extremely bland, and the peach cobbler was the worst my wife and I ever had. I hope they remove that item from the menu, because it was terrible. They had to substitute one ice cream cup for water (they gave us other food options to swap with, but I preferred water). There were other customers there picking up food, but it was clean and still quiet inside. I will not be back, but they seemed to be a family business that was actually trying to do good service for customers.

Great food. Maybe typical Texas BBQ. But we're from Vegas and really don't prefer plastic silverware.
