Hickory House

Went to the south Dallas LBJ dmv and right after looked for a breakfast spot to eat and found this spot.I had the stuffed potato with brisket and it was by far one of the best baked potatoes I have had.The brisket was juicy and flavorful.The toppings on the potato complimented the overall meal I would gladly come to this spot again.Service was fast and friendly.And the ambience was very Mom and Pop diner.

I've been enjoying breakfast at Hickory House in Lancaster since my high school days. Their hearty morning meals, like the Brad Breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, and grilled potatoes, have always been a favorite. The cozy, casual atmosphere and friendly service make it a perfect spot to start the day. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a satisfying breakfast.

Bbq was not good. I got the 3 meat plate. Ribs, brisket, and sausage, mashed potatoes, and baked beans. Staff was friendly and restaurant had an old school vibe. Was definitely clean but just old. I didn't not even finish my plate, only took a couple of bites out of everything. After leaving for lunch the food didn't just sit right in my stomach. It had that like old bbq taste that was just sitting for a while and was reheated. Got home a threw it all up. Definitely would recommend somewhere else.

Everything was great and fresh the breakfast is beyond amazing I definitely recommend the breakfast turkey and eggs with pancakes

This place has the most friendly staff and really good food at a stellar price! I got the brisket sandwhich with a side of corn and fries. The interior was really old and rustic ( felt like stuff on the shelves hadn't been moved in years) but there was a lot of seating!

I'm a Native Texan. I grew up with small town, family-owned BBQ restaurants/pits. I thought most of those places had gone by the wayside. NOPE~!!! There's still one in Lancaster TX...about 15 miles from Downtown Dallas. Small and cozy. Been in the same location since the day after the Earth cooled. Great food. Comfortable portions. Beyond reasonable prices in today's market. Great service. Family owned and operated. Just old school bbq and sides. They also have a morning breakfast service that, if the BBQ is any indication, should be equally outstanding. This is the type of place to make an effort to visit so they'll stay around a bit longer.

I'm going to be honest. Hickory House is the only place I go for lunch. I love this place so much, I refuse to go anywhere else. The food is made right in front of you and it's always delicious. The staff is as friendly as they come. Everything here is amazing. Just go, and you'll understand why it's so awesome.

Visiting the Desoto/Lancaster area and wanted barbecue. Found this place after a quick online search. Went in late afternoon and was still treated warmly; no wait staff, just served cafeteria style. The ribs fell off the bone and the green beans were tasty. The potato salad was remarkably cold all things considered; although it was too vinegary for my taste and I love pickles. The brisket wasn't as tender as I'd hoped. The food was okay but I don't think I would eat here again.

The owner of this place is a joke. You would think a place call hickory house could have a burger better than McDonalds. Only did the burger because everyone I talked to said the bbq was awful
