The food here is just okay.... We ordered the jerk chicken, steamed cabbage, and peas/rice. The chicken was actually not bad, but the side dishes had zero flavor. It was as if it was cooked with no salt at all. 4 stars for the chicken, 2 stars for the sides gets me to an overall rating of 3 stars. I will say the interior was very clean and the workers were very nice.

Today, my culinary journey took me to the Fire Side Kitchen and Bar in DeSoto, Texas, a relatively new addition to the local dining scene. Curious to explore their offerings, I decided to visit for lunch and sample a few dishes that caught my eye.I opted for the curry goat, served with rice and cabbage. The curry goat, though flavorful with a delightful blend of spices, leaned a bit towards the fatty side, which may not suit every palate. The spices carried a subtle, simmering heat that complemented the richness of the curry, though some might find the texture less appealing due to the fat content. The rice was served generously, with a hint of spice that added an unexpected kick. However, its slightly watery consistency left something to be desired--I found myself wishing I had chosen the white rice instead, which I suspect would have paired better with the goat. The accompanying cabbage was a simple yet satisfying side. It retained a pleasant crunch, avoiding the pitfall of being overly soft or soggy. Lightly seasoned, it provided a nice contrast to the more intense flavors of the curry, making it a good match for my personal taste. On the side, I ordered plantains, and they did not disappoint. Cooked to perfection, they were tender with a slight caramelization that brought out their natural sweetness--an excellent addition to the meal. A fellow diner had recommended the Pineapple Wings, so I decided to give them a try as well. For $10, you receive a decent-sized portion of six wings. While they were well-cooked and tender, I found the flavor somewhat underwhelming. The pineapple element, which I had hoped would impart an exotic twist, was subtle to the point of being almost indiscernible. In hindsight, I would have preferred them to be a bit saucier, as the flavor was more subdued than I had anticipated. The customer service was commendable, with friendly and attentive staff enhancing the dining experience. For those who prefer convenience, online ordering is available, though it comes with a modest 99-cent convenience fee. It's also worth noting that the restaurant stays open until midnight, making it a viable option for late-night cravings, and offers lunch specials on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12 to 2 PM.All in all, I'm pleased to see Caribbean cuisine represented in this corner of Dallas, catering to casual diners like myself. While my experience had its highs and lows, I'm intrigued enough to return and explore more of their menu, perhaps trying the jerk chicken or oxtails on my next visit.

I have been hearing good things about the new Jamaican restaurant in DeSoto. I ordered the curry chicken, peas and rice with cabbage for my husband. For myself I ordered the ox tails, beans and rice with cabbage. I rate it a high 9 out of 10. Food was delicious. I can't handle too much spice because of stomach issues. But it was just right. Service was awesome. She answered all of my questions. I will definitely be going back.

Great Jamaican food in DeSoto. I've had stew and curry chicken. Both seasoned well with about 4 pcs of chicken. Not bad on the portions. Rice and peas is decent but the highlight is the well seasoned chicken. My wife had the escovitch fish and she loved it. Fresh ingredients! Great service from staff. These other Jamaican spots in the area may not see me for while. Oh chicken patty was good and has a flaky crust. Ifykyl

I enjoy their jerk chicken and rice. I will try another entree next time. The service was warm and friendly, and the ambiance was clean and comfortable. The atmosphere was similar to that of a sports bar and grill. Will definitely be back!

I drove 45 minutes to check out this place and I have a mix review. I think non Jamaicans will love it. For the Jamaicans... the seasoning was kinda light on the oxtail and lots of oil vs gravy in my plate. I soaked a few napkins trying to get to my rice. If I'm up to the drive I may give them another shot with the jerk or stew chicken.
