The review is for a carry out order of pupusas for a gathering. The restaurant itself could be "seen" from the outside as a hole-in-the-wall. The security bars on the windows are less than inviting and their use of window signs could be tapered back to give a passerby a better idea of the interior. As is, not at all inviting. On the inside, at 1p on a Saturday, lively. Party lights were on, music in the background. Restaurant staff were having conversations with customers. It was a big hangout. I placed an order by phone a few hours in advance. Wasn't easy. At the time I was unaware that the owner was out and he speaks the most English. His employees tried their best and I tried to utilize Google translate as quickly as I could muster. We got er'done and the twenty pack assortment of pupusas was ready on time as requested. Five jalapeño, five pork, five chicken and five spinach. My only gripes was that pricing wasn't properly conveyed (online differs from charges in store) nor did (at the time of purchase) the owner reveal that they charge a "service fee" for cc usage. Almost $2 bucks is ludicrous imo.The pupusas were a hit. Something different, some Texans had tried them prior and excitedly looked forward. Others were newbies and found them delightful. I had two! Funny thing, the spinach was the least popular. All pupusas are stuffed with cheese and you can choose an additional ingredient. They offer a few choices. Don't get just one. They make them in house, so get an assortment and pair it with a hearty stew or meat. It should soak up well and that secondary entree will add depth to that tantalizing bread. Pupusas are served with a pickled shredded cabbage. Theirs is tasty and pairs well.
