This restaurant offers a refreshing departure from the traditional, colorful Tex-Mex spots. The ambiance is sophisticated, and the food takes a unique approach to classic flavors. Unlike most Tex-Mex places, you're not automatically served chips and salsa to start.Since it was our first visit, the waiter recommended the Nopalitos Fritos and guacamole. Instead of tortilla chips, the guacamole was accompanied by house-made heirloom blue corn tortillas, perfect for making tacos. I opted to skip the bacon on the cactus since I'm vegetarian, and the dish also came with two salsas--a mild red and a spicy green. While the guacamole was fresh, it could have used a bit more seasoning, perhaps some salt and lime. That said, making tacos with it was surprisingly filling on its own.For my main course, I had the Enchiladas Queso Queso. I was initially skeptical about the use of goat cheese--while I enjoy it in salads or a grilled cheese, I wasn't sure how it would work in enchiladas. However, it paired well with the dish. Personally, I would have preferred if the enchiladas weren't fried and if there had been more mole, as the mole sauce was absolutely delicious. The side of spiced potatoes was unexpected, as I am used to beans, but they were flavorful and a nice twist. For dessert, I had the Tres Leches del Desierto, a deconstructed tres leches dessert featuring ammonite shell ice cream--which was fantastic and a perfect way to end the meal. The rest of my party ordered various meat dishes and cocktails, and they couldn't stop raving about them. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was excellent. Parking can be tricky, but valet is available for $7.Overall, this restaurant offers a unique and elevated take on Tex-Mex. The creativity and flavors make it well worth a visit.

A friend recommended this restaurant, and while the food was good, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The cactus fries/shavings were a fun novelty, but that's where the innovation ended. The portion of cactus was massive, almost overwhelming. The cabrito (goatling) was cooked well, though. One thing that really bugged me was the water service. Every time I took a sip, someone was there to refill it, which became more annoying than helpful. At one point, a server even reached over my plate to top off my glass--I definitely didn't need it that badly! My waiter was friendly enough, but I couldn't shake the feeling that he was just going through the motions. Overall, for the price, I think there are fancier spots worth checking out in Cowtown.

Hit or miss based on what you order. Drinks are great. Guac is good, cactus is good and not something you can get everywhere. Ribeye was a good order and the chile rellano. The tortilla soup has a hint of Tabasco and it's really good.

Wow. What a phenomenal dining experience. Great story - very accommodating for my son (15 months!) Overall the flavors and food at Don Artemio are a welcome addition to Fort Worth. In a sea of delicious taquerias and trucks - here's an opportunity to experience find dining authenticity. We went with the chorizo tacos for an appetizer. Dry aged chorizo with pork and beef was superb. Not fatty, a deep flavor and served at a nice hot temp. For entree I went with the crepa de Barbacoa and was pleasantly surprised at how much delicious meat was in the lunch portion. Highly recommended! Flavors and chile were on point.

This was one of those really cool dining experiences everyone should have in life. The service was attentive and our waiter shared about the history of the food. We had amazing appetizers made up of Nopalitos Fritos which was fried tender cactus unique tacos with a touch of bacon, acccompanied with heirloom maíz nixtamal tortillas. We also had the delicious guacamole with nice crunchy GRASSHOPPERS!!! Yes, that is right. We topped our Guac with lovely crispy Chapulines. The tortillas were easily some of the best fresh tortillas I have ever eaten. We also shared the Chiles en Nogada, considered by most people to be the national dish of Mexico, the colors of the dish--green chiles, white sauce, red pomegranate are the main colors of the Mexican flag.Other than the amazing food, service, and absolutely stunning atmosphere, the COCKTAILS were splendid. Strong and full of flavor. This would be a great addition to any date night or perhaps the end of a museum day in Fort Worth.I highly recommend this delightful restaurant and I would definitely visit again.

Absolutely stunning restaurant! I researched the menu ahead of time and was so excited to try this place! We loved it and the service was impeccable. Our waiter told us the story of how the restaurant came to be and it was so charming. The nopalitos fritos is a must order dish. The crispness of the cactus with the subtle hint of bacon accompanied by the delicious salsas wrapped in a blue corn tortilla is just wooooow. We got guacamole to go with it just for that extra sparkle. Absolutely loved my zero proof drink as well, the jamaica really brought all the ingredients together. If I wasn't so full from the appetizers I would've eaten all three of my tacos, they were just so mouthwatering, I dream about them every now and then. If a Mexican restaurant were to receive a Michelin star, Don Artemio gets my vote!

What a dining experience we had at Don Artemio! I really felt like I got to try some upscale classic Mexican dishes. The atmosphere inside is very classy and the brickwork is quite impressive. We started with the Totopos - the salsas were awesome. This was our first experience having Nopales and we loved it! As this was also our first time dining at Don Artemio, our server also brought us over each a Nopalitos Fritos - this was amazing, the cactus was thin but held a lot of flavor. The bacon on top really tied together the flavors. Definitely get this when you dine here.I got the Tacos de Lengua and my husband got the Chilean Sea Bass. Both dishes were excellent! We finished off with the tres leches for dessert, the berries were sweet and the bread pieces soaked up the delicious milk.I would recommend Don Artemio anytime you want an upscale dining experience with amazing food!
