Oh smokey, meaty gods of unctuous morsels, thank you for Mr. Dave and his BBQ.I will lend this tasty BBQ to a cross between Texas and KC BBQ. The ribs are done very well with a good amount of smoke put on them; even if the ends lacked some juiciness the flavor made more than up for them being a bit tough. The spicy sausage I also ordered only to find out after sampling some from my box (awaiting coworkers) is made IN HOUSE with Mr. Dave's recipe!! Spicy juicy and extremely tasty! The sauce appears and from the taste lends itself to a thicker, ketchup and molasses based sauce with some kick and a solid shot of black pepper. I liked it quite a bit and even dipped the dryer rib portions in. This is where I think when I heat these up I will baste on some sauce and hit them in the broiler to put some wet / glaze into them.We all enjoyed our selections and I've been told by coworkers the potato salad is spot on, but the greens were flat. All in all not enough to take a point. It's BBQ, not a side factory. ;)

Was in town for a conference and the uber driver said I must go here for the loaded potato! Since I was on the way to pick up a rental car, first stop was to this gem of a place. I pulled up to see the kind of crowd this place drew in. Well to my surprise a very diverse flow of traffic supported the BBQ. If you are like me and always want what each city you visit has to offer go here. I got my food to go.

Man, I thought this place was pretty legit! Seems family owned and run. I guess they do way more take out business as this place is teeny tiny. You walk in the door, there are benches along the wall, and 3 tables. A stand up cooler for their soft drinks, and a window to order. That's it. The walls are adorned with photos, awards, and letters all talking about the greatness my tummy should be expecting. Good enough for me, I'm sold. A friend of mine has been raving about this place. We took the drive over the weekend, and I was pretty happy we did. We both got bbq combos, mine with spicy sausage and the chopped pork, his with the spicy sausage and chopped beef. We originally ordered cabbage and potato salad for sides, but they were out of cabbage, so I got cole slaw and he got mac and cheese. For a bbq joint, the food took a while to come out. But good things come to those who wait. Due to the small area, I literally had a lady waiting for her food, sit as close to me as if we were sharing a bus seat, and I felt semi bad opening up my to go box of goodness. meh, she'll get her own soon enough. Sides:Potato salad definitely had a home made appeal to it. It was mustard variety, but different. I dug it. Cole slaw had an odd key lime colored hue. It was weird looking, but tasted ok. Mac and cheese was my least favorite. The noodles were dry, and not a lot of cheesey ness. The meat came sitting on top of each other with bbq sauce poured on top in the main compartment of the box. The sauce was tasty, with a spicy kick. Add that to my spicy sausage, and I may have had a bead or two of sweat happening. I'm always up for a sweat induced meal though. Pleasure through pain. My pork was good, but fatty. Painfully obvious fat blobs were present. The meat was more chopped than pulled pork would be. The chopped beef was pretty good, but I only got a tiny sample. He gobbled it up in a hurry. Our meal also came with 2 slices of white bread, that were in the box. That resulted in a tad soggy, with sauce smeared bread. Next time, I'll have to remember to ask for my sauce on the side. There was actually a ton of food in that box, so for 8.50 I thought it was a deal. I definitely want to go back for some ribs, or a baked potato loaded with bbq goodness.Meat wise, it kicks Sonny's, Spring Creek, and Dickie's in the nuts. And then laughs about it.

I can't really add much to what the previous reviewers have commented on. I've been coming here for a few months now and really like it a lot!! I'm giving Dave's a solid 4 stars!! I would love to give them 5 stars but some very minor personal preferences prevent me from granting the 5th such as: 1) Unless you ask for sauce on the side, all of your meat will be soaked in sauce. I personally like to taste the meat and not so much the sauce. 2) No pulled pork only chopped or sliced. Even though the pork at Dave's is excellent... I miss the texture and flavor of pulled smoked pork shoulder. 3) Maybe other wood smoke varieties.... hickory, pecan, apple wood etc.etc. 4) A few times now my order was incorrect... beans instead of mac 'n cheese, pork chop instead of chopped pork.... no sauce at all when I asked for it on the side... like twice! As I said before.. these are just my personal preferences and in no way derive from how good this place is already just as it is! A few minor tweaks here and there and this place is a 5 star in my book. But until then.. a solid 4 stars for great tasing BBQ!

I would have to say that I was not impressed with the food. It lacked seasoning and the meat was slightly too dry for my liking. I ordered chicken/chopped beef with sweet potatoes and green beans. I liked the sweet potatoes more than I liked the main course itself. The sauce did not have a distinctive flavor profile and it was not a standout for me. The service when u ordered was better than the food. I like the bar-b-q self serve bar at the Whole Foods way better. "Can I regurgitate the food and ask for a refund?" Basically, I will not be back.

Chopped beef comes in chunks rather than chopped but decent flavor. Baked beans & sauce are sweet (hubby loves the sweet). AVOID greens (they are terrible), & cabbage (equally as bad). I love veggies & will usually force myself to eat them even when they're bad. Visit #1 & #2 I forced their veggies down for the sake of having a green veggie. The sides got progressively worse. By 3rd visit I couldn't do it. Sign says homemade desserts; LIES! Well at least concerning the banana pudding. It was literally instant banana pudding. (smh)Lastly service & wait times suck. But not as bad as their side items. LOL!
