Solomon W. "If solely for the uniqueness of the offerings, this establishment gets a hands-down 5. I will say that non-piping-hot food is normally off-putting, but I mean... where else can you get pork neck bones? Where else can you get TWO scoops of hoppin' Johns for the unit (bartering system, folks) of ONE side.Apparently Hobert's has been aroud for 26 years, but there was not a soul in site. I think this is attributed to the fact that it sits on a very lonely section on Berry. Give it some traffic, people! The food is top notch. They are open 11AM-5:30PM EVERYDAY! There are many a church in the area, so you can assume that they serve up one mean "Sunday Lunch" for you Gospel-lovin' individuals. After worship, I get some serious munchies, too. You aren't alone. The food tops out around $9 a plate: 1 meat, 2 sides, cornbread, and a drank. The pork neck bones were phenomenal. Not too salty, a bit underseasoned if you will--I love to be dehydrated after I gorge myself on soul food. The black-eyed peas were savory and rich. The cabbage was not bitter and held on to just the right amount of crunch. The goulash (yes, the Hungarian specialty) was definitely not authentic. In fact, it was essentially what we in America know as Beef-a-Roni. The huge chunks of ground beef sat in a tomatoey, sweet sauce mixed in with some soft macaroni. All in all, special and fantastic. The mixed veggies were fine, and the okra was tender.I must touch on the cornbread, no? It was tender, hearty, and well-seasoned. Not too sweet, not too bland. "Just right", said Goldilocks.Fort Worth has a whole bunch of hole-in-the-walls, and Hobert's is no different, though it does sit by itself in a little house on E. Berry. Give it a shot, and I believe that you will definitely become a loyal of this grub shack. The people are extremely hospitable, to boot."

Echelon S. "As a part of my pre-birthday celebration, we decided to stay in Arlington. It is a really nice ambiance. The wait for food was a little lengthy but I understand that good help is hard to find. My friend ordered the Chicken and Waffles. Great taste, even better with warmed syrup. I ordered Shrimp and Grits w/ a side of bacon. The bacon was cooked just the way I like it. The grilled shrimp in the grits were okay. However, the gravy on the grits had a cajun flare but the grits were bland. Also, there were baby shrimp, onions, and corn kernels in the Grits. Not a fan of all of that. I didn't taste any cheese in the Grits. Maybe the lunch/dinner will be better. Oh by the way, you can't order anything other than the combinations on the menu. For example, I only wanted the fried boneless chicken to take home but I had to order chicken and waffles because their register wasn't set up to separate items."

I ordered the brisket, mac and cheese and greens burrito. The place is small but luckily they have one table because that thing was not making it home, it looked and smelled amazing and was it good. I am definitely coming back to try more variations on the burritos and all the other food. I haven't made recommendations on yelp in a while, because I haven't been this impressed in quite a while. After covid so much stuff was expensive and mediocre not bruchaholics. Kara J. "Sweet Georgia Brown is a soul food gem in Dallas! Don't let the line scare you--it moves quickly, and the food is absolutely worth it. Just make sure you're ready with your order when you reach the front.I finally decided on the pork chops, and they were juicy and seasoned to perfection. But let me tell you, the real showstoppers were the dressing and the pinto beans. Both were absolute perfection--seasoned just right and bursting with flavor. Honestly, all of the sides were incredible! I had macaroni and cheese, yams, and greens, and every single bite was amazing. My daughter got the fried chicken dinner, with four big, juicy, and well-seasoned pieces of chicken. My other daughter went for the veggie plate and loved the corn. My niece chose the barbecue three-meat plate, and we all shared desserts--a slice of lemon cake and German chocolate cake. Every single thing was fantastic. We came here for a soul food dinner after church, and Sweet Georgia Brown delivered in every way. The portions are enormous--you'll have leftovers for days--and the flavor is second to none. This is the kind of food that feeds your soul. Five stars, without a doubt!"

Kay G. "Food; I heard about this restaurant after a popular IG/YouTuber raved about it. I got the all seafood showstopper. The total was $30.74 including tax. My dish was essentially mashed potatoes with shrimp/ crawfish. Nothing else was prevalent although I don't doubt it was possibly present. The sauce/flavor was good but the whole dish was runny and unfulfilling. To be fair, I was expecting blacken salmon & shrimp over mashed potatoes with cream sauce. (more on this miscommunication later).Service; I placed a phone order around 2pm on a Saturday. The lady taking my order was uninformed about the menu. I asked if the showstopper included salmon in the all seafood option & she replied YES. FYI; It does NOT!!!!! Or my order was incorrect. However, after witnessing the busy counter and pickup window, waiting 20 minutes in line to pay and the utter confusion of the staff, I was simply ready to get out of there lol..Ambiance; I was told my order would be ready for pickup in about 30/40 minutes. When I arrived there was a huge crowd inside so I called again to confirm my order was ready for pickup. It was over 100 degrees and my dog was in the car, I wanted to confirm I could be in and out bc I didn't want him to overheat. Great thing my order was ready, HOWEVER, there isn't a way to pay at the pickup window, and so I went to wait in a very long line lol...I would HIGHLY recommend you pay ahead of time OR just order while there to avoid this hassle! Tips for a better experience; Avoid peak times ie-weekends, Place and pay order online, (unfortunately uber was showing sold out when i tried) and I think the miscommunication from the employee came from it being too loud for her to hear. Thus, take your time to know the menu/what you're getting because the menu isn't very specific. Verdict; As always just check it out for yourself! No place is busy for no reason & the owner seems very genuine & personable."

I had a kids meal with Mac & cheese and mash potatoes with cream gravy. The Mac & cheese had really good flavor and was creamy. The potato's had some skin left on and the gravy had real bacon in it. The kids meal comes with a drink. My fiancé got the daily special which is $3 cheaper than regular price. He got the chicken fried chicken with mash potatoes and gravy and corn. The chicken was cooked just right not dry at all the breading was crispy and had a good flavor. We split the banana pudding and it had chucks of banana in it and was so yummy! I hope we make it back sooner and not wait so long."

I ended up getting the AJ Sammy's meal, and even met one of the co-owners as I was eating the food. He seemed very passionate about the business and indicated he would be here everyday. When I did enter though a hour before closing time, the restaurant was half full. The cashier told me that if I liked spice, I should get a level 4. I called in first and they confirmed that they didn't have any Oxtails or potato salad however we decided to venture over anyway. The line can be quite long, and the establishment is quite small. We ordered to go expecting about a 20-30 min. wait since the food is made to order. We ordered the rotisserie chicken, candy yams and mac n' cheese (not to share) lol he ordered somewhere else. Once we got the food home it was still fairly warm, everything was flavorful the mac n' cheese could have used a bit more cheese and creamier but this is due to taste, and I like my yams a bit sweeter, also due to taste. The chicken was very moist and juicy! Over all the food here is pretty good one serving of all mentioned was about $22.00."

We just came into town and we like to drive around for a little bit. Luckily we found this place. It was just the 3 of us, and when we came in we looked so lost lol. The gentleman up front was so sweet and patient with us. I asked for ox tails and told him if you could pick out the 3 sides for me. He picked the Mac n cheese (which I LOOOVED) the Yams (yumm) and greens. I didn't care for those but my husband LOOOVED those but he didn't care for the Yams. Seon B. "I decided to see what new soul food restaurants would pop up and I came upon Kendall's. I had pretty good reviews and the poor reviews were due to new restaurant hiccups seemingly. The restaurant is easy to find, it's in front of a bus stop! Parking is relegated to meters or garage parking. When I dined, homeless people were loitering in front of the restaurant; one asked me to buy them food on my way out. Going into the restaurant, I was greeted by the chef, and we chopped it a bit about where we're from. He's from Ohio. I perused the menu and selected the fried catfish with a fried drumstick; for the side, I went with fries. My wife went with the oxtails with sweet potatoes and mac and cheese. Unfortunately, the green wasn't ready yet. I do wish the menu had prices listed, I had to ask about the prices. I paid $24 for the oxtails and about $18 for the other entree. The oxtails were delicious, the flavor was savory, and the meat was tender. The pieces were fatty and it would have been nice to have more. I think you can pay to add more pieces if you wish, however. The sweet potatoes were too sweet for us, and the Mac and cheese was good, but I could taste the roux that was used to make the mac and cheese; if you don't like your mac and cheese, just be mindful of this. However, the flavor was good, and it was well-cooked and cheesy. The rice was flavorful. The catfish was perfectly fried, seasoned well, and very tasty. It was very hot and stayed firm when I picked it up to eat with my hands. These fillets were large, and I was served 2 pieces. I liked this meal a lot! The fries were good, too. The fried chicken was fried perfectly. The skin had a nice flavor,r, and the temperature was ouof t the grease hot. However, I agree with the famous food critic Keith Lee that the fried chicken is at 7.5. I would come back here!"

We were greeted by the friendly counter man who took our order. We grabbed a table, and after a short wait, we were served our lunch. The young man who served us was extremely polite and friendly. My wife ordered the catfish with black-eyed peas and candied yams. The cook let us know that they were out of yams and suggested the corn, which was OK with her. That fish filet was a big one and the sides were a good portion size. The plate was served with a piece of cornbread. The fish was hot, crispy, moist, and delicious. The tartar sauce was very good, too. The corn was really tasty with bits of red paper mixed in and seasoned very well. The black-eyed peas were cooked to a good texture but were a touch salty. It's not a big problem, but it's worth mentioning.I had the smothered pork chop over mashed potatoes with collards and mac & cheese.Good portions, and everything was spot on. The pork chop was juicy and tender, and along with the gravy and mashed potatoes made for some good comfort food. The collards were tender and only needed a little shot of hot sauce to complete the flavor. Mac & cheese was good and cheesy. My wife was stuffed halfway through her plate, so it went home only to be my lunch today. YUM.
