Let me start by saying, I've never been to Sanger before, but was there and hungry, so looked for a place to eat. I really wanted a burger, so tried here.At least when I was there, parking was plentiful, so went here and ate in my car listening to music. Also when I was there, no objections to them having 90s country playing since that's always a good choice. But now into the food. Let's start with the fries, since natural that's the first thing to eat (cold fries are nasty). I didn't like that they don't offer regular fries, just waffle fries. My issue with that is waffle fries are never seasoned enough and due to the shape, they tend to be undercooked or overcooked and rarely not one or three other since for the inside to be cooked, many times the outside it hard and too crispy. So they were about what I was expecting. Now into the burger. It doesn't use regular American cheese, which is a good call, though surprising since it's literally in the heart of a small town. But it tasted different, though in a good way. The burger tasted more like ground brisket, than hamburger meat and even had the right coloration. Overall it was a plain burger (wish they put mustard or whatever in the burger instead of just small packets on the side), but it was def the meat that set it apart from most places. The Smokey, flavorful meat was a nice change of pace for sure

Think great BBQ food truck in an old downtown square. Great staff, great food and service. If you're lucky, you might be able to try the Nashville hot Mac & Cheese (off-menu). Hope they last longer in this location than the last few tenants!

Stopped by on a late Saturday afternoon to try the place out. While the Sanger Square is a historic center of town, it has not been great to folks trying to make it work for café style restaurants. Bear's cafe is a nice quiet spot that serves your basics; wings chicken sandwich burgers and brisket. They also have other items on there as qell; meatloaf, chicken fried steak, etc.The one thing to know is that almost all of the meat is smoked, including the burgers. While this imparts great hickory flavor, it does leave the burgers and brisket dry. The burgers are not available with bacon due to high costs supposedly. My burger was good, albeit dry. I was missing onion and pickles, which would have earned an additional star.My wife had the brisket and was disappointed it didn't have more flavor. It was very dry.We love trying to support our local establishments, but it's hard when they just aren't worth returning.
