This diner has so much history and has such a cool vibe. This was my first time in Corsicana and my first time at the diner. But if I come back to visit, I will definitely come to check out something else on the menu or come in the evening and check out the more fancy dining at night. As soon as we came into the diner, we were greeted and seated, and our waitress gave us guidance on what is the best things to eat and drink since it was our first time there. I appreciate that not only do they have fountain drinks and shakes so that you can get a taste of something you may have had back in the day, but they also have a full bar, so my friend and I enjoyed an adult beverage. No I drink from back in the day. Our adult beverage may have been how they made it back in the day as well, because I think it was shaken with ice but it is served with no ice. So the drinks are strong, which was good for me, cause I love a strong drink, but be warned, especially if you're driving. Food wise, they have a decent selection for brunch. I chose the veggie omelet. I really enjoyed the jalapenos, they took the flavor up a notch, and I got their potatoes for my side. They were okay, but the French fries are where it's at. My friend got those with her Monte cristo sandwich and I wish I had done the same. They were very fresh and crispy. They have some nostalgic options on the menu. For example, you can get the Wolf chili, but I will say, it's right out of the can and they charge you $6. Alittle much to me, but they also have chicken and waffles, fish and chips and more, and if you come in the evening, you can go right next door to their more fancier restaurant. I definitely enjoyed the food, the ambiance, and the vibe. I will be back!

Here's my rule of thumb: try and go somewhere twice before reviewing. Unfortunately, Across the Street Diner only had one chance to impress my wife and I as we stopped for a lunch while traveling to Tyler from San Antonio. Loved the "old school" soda fountain feel. Now, to be fair, we got there right at lunch; we immediately noticed the frazzled wait staff. As we stood waiting...and waiting....my wife and I made "corner of our eyes" contact as we felt generally ignored. I THINK we heard someone say "we'll be right with you", but it was more of a passing comment than someone actually saying it to us...We were eventually seated and more waiting commenced. Of the three or four waitstaff we could see - it seemed no one knew whose section was whose - where responsibility laid, etc.. Seriously - we almost just left. Someone sat us, a different person brought our drinks, and yet another different person eventually took our order. One of the ladies TOOK OUR MENUS, asked if we'd ordered - to which we responded not yet - and then proceeded to walk away with our menus. When we finally had our orders taken, my wife literally had to tell our waitress, "I think it was called....". The frazzled wait staff was painful to watch. At one point, one of the waitresses approached another waitress (within ear shot of us) and asked her if she could do something, or handle something - it was unclear - BUT WHAT WAS CLEAR - was her response - a CURT - "NO". It was awkward.Food was just okay - they were out of pork so I couldn't have a Cuban. Fries were soggy and had no seasoning. My wife only ate half of her "I think it was called..." grilled cheese. The only reason this review is 3-stars instead of 2 - is because one of the ladies took a few seconds as we were wrapping up to acknowledge the craziness and apologize.Come on! At least have a sign that tells your patrons whether they need to wait to be seated....

I really wanted to like this diner and it certainly has potential. Located in a charming and historic area - next to the birthplace of Wolf brand chili - I had high hopes. But the food and service fell short. The Caesar salad had possibly the most salad dressing I have ever seen on a salad ever and the monte cristo sandwich was inedible. Do not get it. Service was slow with multiple people coming to our table at different times. Options are limited in the area so this may be as good as it gets.

Very cool old soda counter/cafe in Historic downtown Corsicana. The food was very good (Hashop's beef sandwich for me and patty melt for my wife). The prices were fair, but the service was a little sketchy as far as getting a refill. Don't wait on a check, just go to the checkout when done.

Friendly service. It has that classic diner feel, a real throwback. Located in the downtown area, plenty of street parking. No wait, choose your own seating. My party of two, chose booth seating. I ordered the Fried Catfish and it was good, nothing extraordinary though. I liked the sides the most, traditional macaroni salad flavor and fresh green beans. Ordered the slice of red velvet cake too and it was alright, probably won't get it again when I come back. Recommend this place for lunch. You get exactly what you ordered, it'll hit the spot if you're craving something. I'll be back to try different things on the menu.

Place has potentially but service was so spotty. Started ok then waitress just stopped coming. Another server got the refill and to go box i needed .Waited another 10 min to ask for check (apparently they dont leave checks and you may at the bar?) Croque Monsierre was very unusual also small portion. It was basically cheese toast with a very thin layer of ham on texas toast. If never had to served like this before. Its a really cute place with character too bad this experience was unremarkable. Also i swear i saw a cook vaping while passed that area to go to restroom. I thought that was unusual too.

Fun place in an historic location. Old time soda fountain vibes but menu has lots of choices. Our sandwiches were simply done but very tasty. Good ingredients and flavor. Service was a little slow but adequate nonetheless. Would recommend for any in the area!
