Came here with my mother for lunch and we were finally able to sit down to eat instead of carrying out. The food is always great here and we left satisfied. I ALWAYS order the Fried Catfish when I come and this day was no different! For my sides, I ordered Fries and Side Salad (ranch). The fish was fried to perfection and very good! It came with 5 pieces and I had leftovers to eat later (which tasted better it seem). They give you complimentary Chips/Salsa and the salsa was flavorful, not spicy. The portion sizes are big and worth the money! The customer service was good and we had no issues there. I will DEFINITELY come back like I always do!

Dropping by for Friday catfish was a regular thing for my family. The five piece catfish dinner included: five large pieces of fish, large fries, two onion rings, three hush puppies and chicken salad with lettuce, chunks of tomato, and cheese. Oops that was pre COVID 19 crisis. This is was I received on takeout post crisis:five piece dinner (three medium and two small pieces of catfish), small fries, two small onion rings and a salad with lettuce and tiny chucks of tomato, cheese. Oh I found out .... this is just a pick up, take out issue. The food tasted great, but portion size depends on if you sit down in restaurant to eat. My mom visited enjoyed five large pieces of fish.My solution: sit down, order your food, then ask for ToGo boxes! See ya!

Twenty-one years ago, a DeSoto restaurant in midtown opened that offered breakfast all day and had an American and Mexican menu. It caused something of a stampede as I remember. There really were so few places to sit down and have a real meal.The dining landscape has changed. It's still not diverse in DeSoto; but there are numerous franchise restaurants and a gaggle of fast food and take out places. There's also Cedar Hill's rapid expansion just down the road. Through it all, Acapulco's Ameri-Mex has welcomed in and served the community. The Lion's Club meets there. Acapulco's serves a free Thanksgiving luncheon meal to all comers and a free Veteran's Day meal to the military. The menu and specials have changed over the years; but one thing has remained the same. The salsa. Big plastic pitchers of fairly fiery salsa, cold from the refrigerator, lands on your table with chips. There are tiny porcelain bowls on the table and I start eating before I know what I want.Over the years I have moved away from the Mexican side of the menu to the Ameri side and to their catfish. They have surprisingly good catfish. I'm not the only one who thinks so. It comes in dinner or sandwich form and the sandwich is big and a bargain. Their inexpensive breakfasts are legendary, of course, and they do a very big business. They will definitely get your eggs and bacon the way you want them here. Almost everything is good on their Daily Specials. Selections change daily and are modest prices. You can get bottomless salsa with that, too. You can get it with most anything. Except a cup of coffee, maybe.

Wonderful food! My favorite is the catfish! My friend drives from north Dallas to eat catfish, believe it or not! Great staff and food! I can't say enough about this place. Not fancy but that does not matter once you have eaten there.

The food is fine, nothing I'd go crazy over but not bad either. The biscuits are as soft and delicious as they look but the gravy tastes as from a can as it looks too. Everything is kind of like that-hit or miss. It's definitely dirty diner food-big portions, nothing super fresh. I have had breakfast there once and dinner there 3 times. Mexican food is the best bet, the burgers and cheese fries were not worth the money, actually threw all of it away. Oh and the only reason I've been here more than once is because my boyfriend likes it and it's close. I do enjoy there hash browns and fries. My biggest issue about it is it's dusty, not very clean which kind of grosses me out. Servers are great except one older lady in the morning. Parking is ample.

I'm wondering if this restaurant has changed owners. I've been going to this restaurant for more than 20 years. I have never had a bad experience until today. The food was terrible. It had sat under heat lamp so long both of our lunches were not even worth eating. And the service which is always been stellar was terrible. I hope they get it together. It's always been a great space with good food and good service, but today makes me think it'll be quite a while before I want to go back there
