Hole in the wall BBQ.Always the best, this reminded me of the best bbq in Memphis. Friendly real people, fabulous baby back ribs, with real bark, tender and delicious. Even the bourbon BBQ sauce rocked.Also had sausage bites w cheese. Surprised me at how tasty and simple.Make time to pop in, you'll be glad

I was determined to escape from the local hotel lobby/cafe, which was good, but I wanted to experience a local place. I saw AZ BBQ Shack was a few miles away and decided to give it a try. What a wonderful discovery! The food - the brisket and catfish - were the best I've ever had. The bartender/waitress, Shay, made a mean Old Fashioned and was kind and attentive. I wound up coming back here 3 days during my week long trip, and got to know Chef Joe a bit. It felt special to see him on stage, playing guitar and piano...a distincly unique and local vibe. Sometimes there were only a few of us in the place, but Joe played his heart out. The rotating cast of players that jumped onstage made this place even more special. The musicians were all stellar and brought a smile to my face. What started out as dinner at a local place became much more, as I returned two more times for local Scottsdale experiences I'll never forget. Thank you Joe and Shay and all the locals who I met at the bar. You made this NYer forget about the Big Apple for a few hours each night. :) Super friendly staff and patrons. Great music. Killer food. I can't wait to go back with my friends.

This place has hands down some of the tastiest food I've ever had. I have been here about five times and finally had to leave a review. The staff/owners are the best, they are so polite, and have always been welcoming to me. Each time I have come I have left with a 1/2 lb of brisket and have never regretted it. By far my favorite place to come have a few beers, listen to some music, and eat great food.

I came here for my uncles birthday party. It's a small place with a great atmosphere. They had live music which was nice. But everything else was a nightmare.They need food service training. As the server brought out our feed, she carried it up against her body so that the food was leaning up against clothing that was duet from working and other plates. She brought out the silverware holding it by the eating side. There is one plate of ribs that came out under under arm with her breast resting in the meat. Absolutely disgusting. On top of that the service was terrible. Each persons dish came out individually. So by the time the next plate came out, the other persons food was cold from waiting or they had finished their meal. Mine took so long that we were packing to leave then my food came rushing out. We ordered a veggie try for the tables I pointed out that the dip was already pricked at and half eaten when they brought it out. The waitress. Keep playing with her hair and picking up food and drink glasses by the rim. Dang. People said the food was good, but I couldn't. I couldn't eat or drink anything because it was so gross. Maybe they need new staff but it could also just be systemic. I couldn't in clear conscience recommend this place m, but people like it. Maybe i caught it in a bad day. Maybe not. I'll never be back.

The chicken was incredibly dry and had very little flavor. The bark on the brisket was literally the consistency of tree bark, the meat was very fatty and greasy, and again - very little flavor overall. The sauces were underwhelming. I've eaten here before and the food was pretty good. The best part of the meal was the salad and even that was just ok, but it had the most flavor because of the salad dressing. I only ate a small portion of my food and threw the majority out. I've never done that before with any food from any restaurant. I'm not sure what's going on with the quality, but I'm assuming the days are numbered on this place. It's very sad because I think they have a cool concept with the live music. The food needs way more attention. I'll give it two stars since everyone who works here seems nice.

The food was delicious. Chef Joe has a unique smoker, and his meat is perfection. Everyone was friendly, and the duet was excellent. We had a great time. We even started line dancing. Great experience.

First time visit: Delicious food and a relaxed, lunchtime atmosphere. Brother was visiting and loves bbq. This place was the closest as he had a plane to catch. Hidden on a quiet corner in a shopping center. You might miss it it you blink. We had the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket/pulled pork combo sandwich, both with a side of slaw. Sandwiches were excellent! Slaw was chopped cabbage with dressing. Order of fries could have been bigger but they were fresh and had a great crunch. The server was very attentive. She shared that they collect needed-items for families over the holidays. I like that they give back to their community.

Pretty rad little spot. Very jazzy vibes. I usually just order to go. I get the brisket sammich. The briskets pretty damn good. Corn breads fire. Wish they had the green hatch chili corn bread. Overall tasty little bbq joint.

By far the best barbecue in Phoenix, maybe in the United States!! This is definitely a hidden gym with live music and great atmosphere. Everybody's always friendly, but the food is absolutely phenomenal.!! Love this place

I took a friend of mine who is 103 years old to this restaurant on Sunday, not realizing that they were not open normally on Sunday the owner was there preparing for a private party, but he allowed us to come in and have one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. The ribs were delicious and the Brisket was so tender. this is a cool place with an owner who is very hospitable. My advice try it you'll love it.
