We had high hopes after seeing them on tv and looking at the reviews. Overall it was okay. We were greeted and seated right away. Antonio was there and welcomed us with a smile and small talk. We ordered stuffed mushrooms and cheese-sticks, pep pizza and another one with prosciutto Everything was okay but seemed bland and lacked flavor. We just had higher hopes for the experience.

Over the past month I have visited Antonio's twice for lunch. It is in a stand alone building with its own parking lot with a BIG sign out front. You can't miss it. This Italian eatery is an old time Houston institution that is famous for its frisbee like dough throwing exhibitions that are done for the benefit of diners. Since I didn't observe that either time for lunch I'm assuming they only do that at dinner time. Oh well...The lunch menu offers several options at reduced prices over the dinner menu. I believe the serving sizes are the same. My first visit was for pasta with meat sauce for $11. The meal came with bread and after a short wait delivered to the table. It was a good tasting meal with both flavor, quantity and value. On the dinner menu this same meal is $5 more.My second visit was for a pizza at lunch and I went with my usual order of beef, mushrooms and onions. For a 10" pie the lunch cost was $12.75 and at dinner it would have been $18.50. I guess the frisbee throwing show during dinner time is worth it?? Anyway that pizza was very good taste wise with plenty of toppings on the pizza. I would order it again but only at that price. Both visits were with prompt and professional table service.

Love their food and have for yrs. I used to take my kids to Antonio's and now they take their own. Same pasta on the head service. LOL Veal Parmesan is the best in the city.

Super service and even better, made from scratch Italian food! When I was asked to suggest food for a pre marathon pasta party for over 100, Antonio's came immutable mind. Quality ingredients, wonderful sauces, and great prices for good, comforting, Italian food. Everyone at the party loved the spaghetti with meat sauce and marinara sauce, but the biggest hit were the meatballs! Antonio's is really SO GOOD!!!! Thank you for helping make our pasta party a real success!

Locals have been going to Antonio's forever as its a staple of Houston. Heck, I was a baby being given pizza dough here. The staff are like family. Best cheese pizza in town. The ambiance is classic. I cant say enough. Oh and their egg plant parm is a fav of my families. And yes, they put the right amount of syrup in their coca cola. What's not to love?

Pizza... 3 Stars Customer Service... 4 Stars Definitely just sub standard pizza with a not so bad Cesar salad.My waitress was very friendly and attentive to me as well as all her customers.Would I return... sure I would. I ordered the Cappellini with Meat Sauce plus one link and a takeout order of the smallest size Antonio's Special Pizza. Both meal orders were very good, made with love and very delicious. The pizza was for sharing amongst 3 n we all enjoyed it. I prefer 2-3 toppings max, but they wanted this particular pizza. I like the jalapeños n pineapple on it. I especially love some of the pasta dishes here and mine was simple, but very tasty, moist without being all greasy and comforting. The noodles were very tender and fresh. The sauce was very tasty, mild but captivating, contained real tomato base and held a semi-sweet n tangy profile to it. It wasn't pasty or too salty, just right. The ground meat was well-seasoned and the sausage link was very tasty, savory and soft. This link also seemed to taste homemade like the rest. Great, friendly service again as usual. If I have room for dessert, their chocolate cake and gelato are great stuff.

I lived in the area way back in the 70's and remembered this place. We were in town for an event, and for dinner my wife and I went there. The outside sign was the same as it had been for years. The food was very good also, so this was a very nice surprise. I had never read the story about the original owner and it is very nice. The waiter said that he is now in his 80's and is often in the restaurant and greets people now... we did not see him but the staff was as good as I remember.
