I found Yummy BBQ on a Wednesday afternoon looking to try some more Cantonese Barbecue in the Rowland Heights area. On Yelp, the restaurant does not appear to have many reviews and sits at a modest 3 star rating. But looking at the pictures of the food, each dish seemed to be pretty high in quality. With that, I decided to give them a try and compare to the other Cantonese BBQ places in the San Gabriel Valley. Looking at the variety of options on the menu, I decided to order a Roasted Duck and Barbecued Pork over Rice which was $19.99 at the time of this review.Opening the box of food, I was happy with the amount of meat inside. Lining the bottom was a generous portion of rice. On this layer were two pieces of green choy vegetables, about 9-10 pieces of barbecued pork, and 9-10 pieces of roast duck. With the amount of meat inside the box, I was able to feel full after eating all of the contents inside. Each piece of meat was large and thickly cut which added to the appeal of the dish. For $20 in the Rowland Heights area, the dish can be a little pricey when compared to other areas. And with the amount of rice given, this barbecue combination can definitely seem heavier on the carbohydrates side. But looking at price to portion as a whole, it was fair for the entire Rowland Heights area.Of anything to say about the dish, the taste was definitely the biggest highlight! The choy given was moist, fresh, and lightly crunchy which added a neutral break to the barbecued flavors. For next, the roast duck was succulent near the skin and rich in fiber which made the meat retain a savory flavor. I particularly liked how both thick and thin pieces were given which created a mix in the different levels of fat and different levels of flavor. Not only was the duck delicious, but the barbecued pork was also some of the best I've had in the area. The pieces of pork had a similar sweet taste to the majority of other places in the area. But what really made this barbecued pork stand out is the quality of the meat. Each piece stood out in that they were soft, mildly chewy, and yet still retained the smokey sweetness. Barbecued pork can become dry easily, so it was very impressive to see how well Yummy BBQ handled the meat.Straight to the point, Yummy BBQ easily earns a 4 star rating in my eyes. The portion of food was overall good and the taste of the meat was both authentic and flavorful. If anything I could say, the price might be a tad more expensive than other Cantonese BBQ places in the area. However, the food was definitely worth the extra expenditure. In all, I would be happy to call Yummy BBQ a hidden gem and would definitely come back to try more dishes in the future!

Not my first choice for food based on the reviews I've read, but wanted to take my grandma out for lunch and she seemed to highly recommend this place. This reminds me of a hole in the wall kind of Asian restaurant. The food is ok. However, the customer service is something to be said - we decided to dine in and the server lady was so rude to my grandma. My grandma is hard of hearing and the server was explaining the details of their promotion of "spend $50, get one dish free"...my grandma was having difficulty hearing her (she forgot her hearing aids). She told the server she can't hear very well.My grandma was asking her some questions and the server lady literally said "old lady, you're confused" and my grandma apologized and said "sorry I can't really understand." And the server responded with "I'm speaking in regular people's tongue." Sooooo rude. What the heck? I even forgot I had written a draft of this review many many months ago, and happened to come across this draft again. Still upsets me when I think back to this experience at this establishment.

Food poisoning from the lobster ... had the lobster noodle today and tasted a bit fishy and mushy. The batter was thick so didn't think to much of it until I got home and started to fell nausea and than started on the vomiting and diarrhea ......, I came to this place couple time for there lobster noodle and was fine but today the lobster tasted I bit off ... Rest of the food tasted alright like usual but the lobster really did me in. Service was decent the waiter was nice and ambiance was clean. Just sorry that I had to wright this review to let other people know to beware of their lobster ... if it taste off than it probably not good .... I learn it the hard way ..... Probably keep to there meat that seem more legit and probably a lower chance of food poisoning....

This is a great authentic Hong Kong style restaurant. The price is decent but the food is great! So far, we have about 20 dishes and we loved them all. The service is also great. I want to bring out a waitress working there by the name of Shirley. She has great knowledge of the food she serves and with great smile, she was very courteous. She greeted us with a smile everytime we came (as of now, 3 times). I would this restaurant with many thumbs up.

Food is good, but pricey. Then again, what's not pricey these days. Food can be hit or miss with ingredients. I personally never had an issue with the beef chow fun, but a friend has received no beef with her beef chow fun take out. The hot deli is pretty good too, but the intestines have too much fat and chewy. The staff is not the friendliest bunch, and quite unorganized when it gets busy. Suggest going non-peak hours.Small dining room with a few tables. Good for small party or individual dining.

we frequent this place pretty much every weekend or so cuz my roomies mom likes their soysauce chicken, which i cannot disagree i often opt 2 get their black & golden bbq pork ~ its actually char-siu on a different levelwe sometimes order their royal chicken or soysauce chicken, which has tasted consistently decent & we recently (finally) were able 2 get pipa duck (pre-ordered), which was goody da 3-star steada 4: they sometimes dont close plastic lids tightly, so da sauce spoils out & sometimes dont even provide sauce @all + we went in 2 get pipa duck a few times w/i 30-60 mins of them openin on a saturday morn but they alwayz claimed they just sold out ~ it wasnt till roomies sis suggested we pre-order dayz in advance was when we finally got 2 try it but da business shoulda suggested that 2 us (we r regulars) as we tried gettin it 3 consec weeks

We used to really like this place. However, when we went today, they asked to charge $1 credit card fee for anything under $20! And service was not the greatest. So bring your cash everyone!

As a native Cantonese. I approve this spotCame by with my mom on a weekend day as my mom requested that i spent sometime with her, we just quickly picked this restaurant for a quick brunch.Everything is authentic, this includes the food quality, the taste, the tight parking and server attitude. Overall, i had some quality authentic Cantonese food. The BBQ pork hit the mark with crispy skin and saltiness. The fermented bean curd veggie was great.and as usual, getting in and out of the parking lot was chaotic.Feel like an authentic Chinese spot.

Yummy BBQ reminds me of your old school style Chinese BBQ deli. Roast duck, char siu, roast pig and ready to eat entrees.Kudos to Shirley for her friendly service. Very unusual for your typical Chinese deli/restaurant.Hubby ordered Roast Duck Won Ton Mein. The broth was okay...not the most flavorful. Came with 3 or 4 wontons.I had Beef Chow Fun. Hubby said it had "wok hay". Basically it means the you could taste the food was cooked in a wok. I thought it was a bit bland. Could have used a splash of soy sauce. The dining area was clean and pleasant.Overall, the dining experience was okay.
