A friend of mine took me to Young Dong Restaurant and I was fully impressed. To start, we were a bit late and yet we were greeting by a very hospitable host. The dish of the evening was what my buddy wanted me to try. Seolleongtang with beef cheek. My friend was not kidding when he said you'll like this. Adding black pepper, bit of salt and lots of green onion, provided a flavor that was so comforting. The beef cheek was dipped in a sauce with jalapeños, a form of horseradish and soy, to complement the tender/melt in your mouth experience. The broth was excellent as well. Their sides of kimchi and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) were tasty as well. This is one place I could see myself going back again, and especially on a cold evening. It was like a warm bowl of comfort food, that I didn't know about, but definitely would crave. Enjoy, cheers!!!

I came and had their sul lung tang and it was pretty good. The broth was good and meat was soft. Everything was seasoned so well. I really liked how they gave a dipping sauce with jalapeños. Definitely added some more flavor to the dish. They have spacious seats inside. I took off one star because of the service. Our server was pretty rude and I felt like she was rushing us when no one was even there. I felt like they can really improve on their customer service.

Got the Ox Beef Brisket soup and Beef Rib soup. Both were really good! Like a lot of Korean soup places, it's add your own salt and green onions. One of the things that was more stand out for me was their barley tea. It was the perfect amount of strength without being bitter. I drank multiple cups and almost wanted to take it home! Bon chon was two dishes (kimchi and picked radish) and then a dipping sauce. It was pretty quiet when I went around closing (8pm-ish), but a nice place to catchup and chat because it was so quiet. Service and good and food came out pretty fast. The atmosphere was clean and tidy. A good, solid place for a nice simple Korean soup dinner.

Despite the price increase, I feel like the quality of the side dish especially the radish has gone down so much. It doesn't taste the same and we've been going here for close to 10 years. Maybe they're using lower quality radish or less fermentation.. You only get kimchi and radish with the soup so this was a dealbreaker for us. Bring back the original recipe please!!

We've been coming here for years because it's our go to place for gomtang & galbitang. Just thinking about it as I write this review makes me want to go back soon. The DIY green onions, the endless kkagduki and the hot/cold (your choice) tea with beef bone brothy soup is comfort food. Gomtang (5*) - with tripe & beef intestine. So good.Galbitang (5*) - the broth and the meaty beef ribs are delicious. We have always been greeted with a smile and good service. The waitress knows we enjoy her kkagduki so she brings us 2 servings from the get go. The restaurant is clean with simple decor and the parking is limited. If you're in the mood for Korean soup, give this restaurant a try.

My second time here, and it was just as satisfying. This place is #1 on my list of places in OC for sullungtang (Korean beef bone soup). Exceptional service. Quiet spot with Korean TV on in the background. Will definitely return soon.

Pros:-Galbi tang was pretty good. Came with 3 huge ribs of meat. Tasted pretty good with the dipping sauce-Unlimited rice, which was good. Two of the kids both wanted two bowls of rice. They were hungry after a long day at Knotts.-Close to Knotts. Nice hot food if its a cold night-Service was pretty good-They gave us both hot and cold pitchers of corn tea, and a pitcher of ice water-My husband was all about the kettle filled with kkakdugi juice-Biggest thing of green onion I've ever seenCons:-kkakdugi wasn't the best. Wish they had some additional banchan-sulungtang was on the small side for the price. We ordered 4 sulungtang, all with "mixed" beef, but each bowl seemed to have its own cut, rather than each one being mixed. My daughter got almost all flank, and I got almost all pieces next to the bone. -I think thet accidentally turned the lights off while my daughter was in the restroom, lol

Came here on the Monday after New Years as most restaurants were closed for the holidays and Young Dong was still open. The waitress brought over our warm barley teas right after we sat down. It was perfect for the cold weather. Loved how the menu was short and simple and straight to the point. I was extremely excited to see that gomtang was on the menu because I don't really see restaurants that make and sell gomtang. The broth was very clean and delicious as well. Their kimchi's were very good. The seasoning was perfect and it was perfectly fermented as well. Their jjangachi (pickled veggie) sauce was mixed with some gyeoja (korean hot mustard) and it added the perfect kick to dip the meat from your soup. Definitely will come back again soon!

The experience seemed very authentic and low-key, and the soups delicious! We ordered the mixed and beef cheek soups. The beef cheeks were super tender. Even my very picky three-year-old ate it up. The lady was very thoughtful in offering my kid a separate bowl of broth and rice. It definitely hit the spot! Haven't felt so satisfied from a restaurant meal in a long time.
